Xueyue wished she hadn't agreed to watch the painting competition. From a distance, she saw Bai Tianai being led to a wooden platform. The polished wooden board was covered with colorful mats, and there were several low tables evenly distributed on the platform. There were all kinds of painting tools, and everyone had only the time it took for a stick of incense to burn completely.

Xueyue could see her sister from a mile away. Bai Tianai was guided by Zheng Leiyu, who hovered tightly above her and helped her onto the platform. He smiled at what she whispered in his ear. He was extremely possessive of her and never left her side until the competition drum sounded.

Xueyue knew where the Bai family's tent was set up. Because their daughter was performing, they had the best view of her and the royal family.

"Oh, dear, where are you going?" Duchess Li Qixing asked as Xueyue stood up suddenly.

"Well, go get some cakes."

"If you like, the servant can get some for you." Duchess Li Qixing motioned for the maid to come forward, but Xueyue immediately shook her head.

A large table was filled with food, from treats to snacks. Two guards were stationed there to make sure the food didn't fall into the wrong hands.

"I liked some of the pastries you brought us last time, but I can't remember their names."

"Oh, in that case, Li Wenmin will go with you." Duchess Li Qixing nodded to one of the twins, but found that his seat was empty. "Where did he go?"

“He sneaked to the pastry table.” Li Chenyang’s lips were thin. That glutton.

“My children will definitely love to eat it.” King Li Chenyang smiled and shook his head.

"Xueyue, bring one or two guards."

"Since Li Wenmin is here, I'll be fine." Xueyue said with a smile.

“Well, don’t forget to drag him back before your brother finishes eating the table.” King Li Chenyang said lightly.

"Of course." Xueyue smiled and nodded, then left her seat. Everyone left the tent to watch the painting competition, because this was a great opportunity to find a good wife and mother.

Xueyue walked to the pastry counter, but she knew she was not here to grab food. She just wanted to find something to distract herself and forget about the existence of Daytime Love. She needed time to think and come up with a plan to destroy that despicable family.

She had a new life now. She could turn her back on the Bai family and pretend they didn't exist. She hoped she was mature enough to forget it all. The problem was, she had only lived for eighteen years, so it was impossible for her to forget sixteen years of abuse.

Xueyue closed her eyes in pain. She didn’t know how to destroy them. She didn’t know how to drag them into the mud because they were too perfect in the eyes of the public. What could she do?

"Are you okay?" someone said behind her.

Xueyue forced herself to relax. With a smile on her face, she turned around and said, "I'm fine..." Her voice gradually faded away.

Ning Huabing's eyes widened, and her gaze turned from the arena to Xueyue. Neither woman expected to meet each other. Ning Huabing's eyes fell on Xueyue's hair and found something strange. The hairpin did not match her clothes. Of course, it might be out of preference, but it made no sense to her.

Ning Huabing didn't know why, but the conversation in the tent just now came to his mind. Han Jieru was frightened by this incident and quickly ran back to her own tent to take shelter.

'Ha, of course, she panicked. She shot an arrow at the Duke's daughter.

"I saw you fall off your horse. Are you hurt?" Ning Huabing touched the collar of her Hanfu awkwardly and fiddled with her necklace nervously.

Xueyue's face instantly became defensive. "Thank you for your concern," she replied stiffly.

"Oh... no problem." Ning Huabing said, looking at Bai Tianai who was still concentrating on painting. She already had a fiancé, but still participated in the competition.

Ning Huabing knew exactly why Bai Tianai wanted to participate. She wanted more power than she already had. Yes, the Zheng family was rich, but Bai Tianai was ambitious and wanted to see how far she could fly.

"Your friend is very talented."

"What?" Ning Huabing blinked. "Oh, by the way, Bai Tianni has been practicing for this competition."

"That's strange." Xueyue tilted her head and thought. "We all know that this competition is for showing off one's skills, and she obviously has an ulterior motive for participating. I believe you also know this, Miss Ning."

Ning Huabing twisted her fingers. She didn't want to have this conversation. She wanted to run back to her tent, but for the sake of formality, she stayed.

"Every young woman here knows the hidden motives." Ning Huabing decided to chat with the stunning woman in front of her. If she manipulated her properly, maybe, just maybe, Xueyue would be her future sister-in-law.

"Doesn't Miss Bai already have a fiancé?" Xueyue tilted her head and placed a finger on her chin.

Ning Huabing froze. "Well, yes, she did, but——"

"Then why is she still showing off so proudly?"

"Perhaps, she just wanted to show her talent to the royal family and thank them for hosting this competition." Ning Huabing rushed out hurriedly.

"Just the royal family?" Xueyue raised her eyebrows and the corners of her lips turned up.

"Just them." Ning Huabing touched his elbow and said in a low voice.

"Oh, it seems I made you uncomfortable." Xueyue smiled and took a step back. "I apologize."

“No!” Ning Huabing shouted, startling Xueyue. She cleared her throat and clarified, “What I mean is… you didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all.”

"Well, okay." Xueyue just nodded lightly, although her expression said the opposite. She looked at Ning Huabing's face becoming increasingly gloomy.

"Why don't we stop chatting?" Xueyue finally spoke, smiling brightly.

"What?" Ning Huabing blinked in disbelief.

"Are you willing to join my camp?" Xueyue asked quickly.

"Your side..." Ning Hua sneered, "What benefit can I get from being with you?"

"So what benefits do you get from being around love during the day?"

Ning Huabing's expression turned serious. "You know."

"Of course I know." Xueyue chuckled, her eyes full of amusement. From a distance, you would have thought they were having a pleasant discussion about the latest fashion trends.

"Either you or Bai Tianai ordered the arrows to be shot at me. Of course, it was Han Jieru who shot them." She shrugged. "But that doesn't change your involvement. Does it?"

"I don't know what you're talking about—"

"What did Bai Tianai promise you to do to get you to join her camp?" Xue Yue tilted her head. "Last time I checked, you are the daughter of a marquis and don't have to obey the orders of the Bai family, but you act like a running dog of the Bai family. Why?"

"Why should I tell you?" Ning Huabing asked with a frown. Everyone had seriously underestimated Xueyue as their opponent.

"Because it's more beneficial to join me."

"as if."

"Ning Huabing, you are a smart woman, why are you wasting your potential?"

"I-"

"I know you didn't mean to hurt me." Xueyue said with sympathy. "You were dragged into the quagmire by force."

Ning Huabing bit her lower lip and looked down at her hands in shame. She didn't know how to refute Xueyue's words. She was annoyed that she was dragged into this mess and didn't want to be involved. But what could she do? She couldn't seem to turn back time.
