Eventually, their usual bickering ended. She found it interesting that there had been no hard feelings between them since then. Perhaps it was because he always emphasized dealing with problems as soon as they arose, rather than delaying them.

Why hold onto anger for weeks when you can just deal with it right there and then? In theory, this is a perfect mindset. But in practice, it’s difficult.

"I'll ask someone to get the imperial physician." Yu Zhen ordered. He helped her back to bed.

"Wait a minute!" Li Xueyue yelled. She knelt down and straightened his robe. His robe was loose, revealing his toned body and eight-pack abs.

"Always a worrier," he said, laughing. To be honest, it doesn't bother him. It never did before.

Li Xueyue arranged everything and let him settle down.

"Once again, you only care about others and not yourself." Yu Zhen shook his head.

"What do you mean?" Li Xueyue asked, tilting her head in confusion. She combed her hair with her hands, wondering if he was talking about her messy hair.

Yu Zhen brushed her soft hair behind her shoulders and said, "Okay, it's all done."

Li Xueyue wondered if there was something in her hair. She lowered her head and gathered strands of hair together, looking for flaws.

He lifted her chin up, "I've adjusted it for you, don't think about it anymore."

He walked out of the bedroom, passed through the partition, went to the door, and opened it.

Sure enough, there was no one here. Just as expected. He had pardoned all of them last night. No one could hear her sweet cry except him. He listened greedily and listened with satisfaction.

"It's just the right time."

From the corner of his eye, he saw a group of servants and security guards walking towards him in the corridor. As usual, they arrived at the same time, ready to perform routine work.

His servants were smart and knew when they could come in and when they couldn't.

"Go and call the doctor," he ordered a bowed maid, who immediately ran away to carry out his order.

Yu Zhen didn't even look at the other servants, closed the door in their faces, and walked out the door leading to the bedroom.

Li Xueyue put her hands on her hips and swung her legs lazily beside the bed, her hair slightly gathered at her side. A breeze blew through the room, and her hair was blown up, revealing her neck.

"If there's one thing that makes me worry endlessly, it's you." Yu Zhen walked up to her, lifted a corner of the blanket, and covered her thin shoulders with the other half of the blanket to make sure she could feel warm.

“We all feel the same way.”

Li Xueyue smiled and said, "You are the same."

"really?"

"Yes."

"Then give me an example, little hamster."

Li Xueyue looked at him blankly. She could swear that his memory must be much better than this. Or maybe, he couldn't accept the fact, which made him blind.

Whatever the reason, she glanced at her fingers. "Well, let's see..." She snorted.

She began listing examples one by one, holding up her fingers to keep count.

"Right now. And the night before last. And the other days when you worried about my appetite—"

"You are definitely trying to use my concern for you against me, right?"

Li Xueyue closed her mouth. She fell directly into his trap once again. For some reason, every time she was with him, she was always at a loss, mainly because she always let her guard down and because he never let her down.

“You did that on purpose,” she pointed out.

Yu Zhen gave her a sly smile, his eyes gleaming like a predator stalking its prey, he approached her and grabbed all her hair with one hand.

"What if I did?" he whispered. His voice was hoarse, low, and calming. Her eyes fluttered.

"The imperial physician is here—" Li Xueyue blinked. Oh.

Yu Zhen tied her hair into a low ponytail with a hairband. He put the hairband behind her and smiled at the exquisite work of art in front of her. Her face became redder and redder, but she didn't know it herself until her cheeks were flushed with embarrassment.

"Do you really have to tease me like this?" Li Xueyue begged, knowing that this was the second time she had fallen into a trap today. No doubt there would be more traps to come.

"I haven't the slightest idea what you're implying, little hamster."

Li Xueyue glared at him. If he continued to call her this ugly nickname, she would bite him. "I still don't understand the origin of this nickname."

Yu Zhen's mouth twitched, and he tried hard to hold back the smile that was about to bloom. Seeing her wolfing down the food, he remembered the name. He also remembered the joy in her eyes when she nonchalantly nibbled on two large buns.

Those tender memories are like the spring breeze, soft and gentle, but they don't last.

Now, all she could think about was how to stay afloat in a palace that was bent on drowning the strongest swimmer.

"That reminds me." Yu Zhen said coldly. His joy quickly disappeared. "You didn't have dinner last night. You didn't have breakfast this morning either."

"I can eat later."

Yu Zhen frowned. He thought they had made great progress in getting her appetite back to normal.

It had been a long time since she had eaten as much as she had that morning when he was invited to the Lees for breakfast. He had witnessed her consume more food than a man twice her size.

Is all the hard work in vain?

"The servants can bring the food after we finish talking to the doctor," she comforted him.

Li Xueyue wondered if he took it as a personal responsibility to make sure she ate. If it weren't for him and the servants, she would forget to eat. Sometimes, she was just too focused on her own thoughts and her next plan.

"You're neglecting yourself. It's not doing you any good."

“I try not to do that.”

"You little rascal—"

A knock on the door interrupted him.

"Come in."

He heard footsteps approaching. Another knock came, this time on their bedroom door.

"do not move,"

Li Xueyue stood up. He put his arms around her. Before she took the first step, he hugged her.

"No matter what the imperial physician says, nothing will change between us." He comforted her softly.

Li Xueyue was a little surprised that his mood changed so quickly, but she still forced a smile and nodded.

"I will make you fulfill that promise."

"Do not."

"Please repeat that?"

"This is not a promise, but a vow," Yu Zhen reminded her.

Li Xueyue's lips opened slightly. He remembered the smallest details about her, and she couldn't help but smile, until the smile finally spread to the corners of her eyes.

"This is a vow," she whispered, and her words drifted softly and slowly on the wind and imprinted on their hearts.
