Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 371 Get Ready
As the days passed, the day of the roundtable discussion finally approached.
Li Xueyue woke up earlier than usual, but Yu Zhen was one step ahead of her. This was the first time she woke up alone since her wedding night.
Li Xueyue touched the other side of the big bed. It was cold. It seemed that Yu Zhen had been awake for a while. It was strange that he had the energy to get up so early.
"Good morning, Princess Li." The maids greeted one after another. They lowered their heads, hoping to hide their blushing faces. They also couldn't stand the sight of the Crown Princess being bitten by love.
It seems that the crown prince simply can't stand his wife. At present, rumors have spread like wildfire. They talk about the crown prince's feelings for the princess.
Most of the gossip was about his endurance. Some said the candles in their room stayed lit until the next morning. It was a miracle that the princess could still walk afterwards.
"Pump out the bathtub," Li Xueyue ordered. Even though Yu Zhen had cleaned it for her the night before, it still felt sticky.
"As you wish, Princess," the maids replied, and two of them left the room to carry out her orders.
Li Xueyue didn't care about Xu Jiaqi's absence. After what happened a few days ago, the maid disappeared. There was no doubt that it was done by Yu Zhen or the queen.
"Is this morning tea?" Li Xueyue asked as one of the maids brought a tray with a teapot and teacups on it.
"Princess, this is a gift from the Queen." The maid said softly.
Li Xueyue didn't need any more explanation. This was most likely a tea used to improve fertility. Yesterday, the imperial physician came to examine her.
She could not forget the disappointment on the Queen's face when he announced that the Crown Princess had no children.
The Emperor, on the other hand, seemed unfazed by the news. There was a gleam of patient understanding in his eyes as he assured her that everything would be alright.
"Very good." Li Xueyue responded.
She glanced at the freshly poured tea. Steam rose from the cup and a foul smell reached her nose. The tea smelled medicinal. It was hard to ignore the strong herbal flavor.
Li Xueyue held her breath and drank the tea in one gulp. She frowned at the bitterness. But that was a good thing, because it proved its quality - high-quality medicines usually taste bitter.
The Queen must really want a grandson.
Li Xueyue took a bite of the dried plum in the tea. However, the wine was too bitter to be tolerated. Even the sweet and sour juice of the dried plum could not wash away the bitterness.
"Is there more?" Li Xueyue said when the maid poured her another glass.
"Yes, Princess," she replied.
Li Xueyue suppressed a bitter smile. Even though the maid was loyal to her, she did not dare to complain. The queen did this for her own good.
Li Xueyue had just finished the last drop of tea when the maid came into her room again.
"Princess, the bath water is ready."
Li Xueyue nodded and put the teacup back on the tray. She hoped that the pungent smell would disappear, otherwise the breakfast would be unpalatable.
After cleaning thoroughly, I was rushed to get dressed.
"Keep it simple today." Li Xueyue told the maids. They were confused by her words.
When someone approaches her with a hairpin, she adds: "No fine gold or jewellery."
Although confused at first, the maids obeyed her orders. They dared not disobey the Crown Princess, especially since she had the strongest backing in the palace.
Who could be more powerful than the rude prince?
Li Xueyue sat there patiently as the maids dressed her in clothes that were more modest than usual. She made sure the theme was elegance, nothing more. There was no need to show off today.
"Yes, silver will do," she said when the maid offered her two choices.
"No, this thief is too red." Li Xueyue said. "Remove it, the makeup should be more natural."
When the maid handed over the peach pink, Li Xueyue smiled. She allowed it to be applied. Time passed by, and soon, she was dressed.
Li Xueyue stood up and examined her appearance. Compared with the previous few days, she felt much more relaxed. This was mainly because her jewelry was kept to a minimum.
Her clothes are airy and light in color. She is dressed in white except for the light blue ribbon around her waist and a touch of color under her sleeves. The edge of the hanfu is trimmed with sky blue, adding a touch of elegance.
Li Xueyue nodded with satisfaction. "This is perfect," she said.
The maids were surprised again. This was a rare time that the Crown Princess praised them. Although it was a short time, they cherished it. The rarity of such things made them work harder, wanting to hear more of such things.
Maybe...her words could have a good outcome.
Li Xueyue hadn't seen Yu Zhen all morning, but that didn't matter. He had prepared her for what was about to happen the day before. Still, she felt her heart beat faster with every step she took. The closer she got to the meeting room, the more nervous she became.
From what she could tell, the room would be filled with the most important people in the country. Every faction and sector of the country, from trade to military to agriculture, would be represented.
"Just breathe," she reminded herself in a small voice that only she could hear.
“You’re ready for this,” she added.
It turns out that the idea for the first draft was found in the grass. The servant who was sent out to retrieve her fallen hair ornament returned it.
Li Xueyue was worried that what was written on the parchment might be seen by others before it was returned to her.
Even though the servant swore that it was brought here without showing it to anyone, Li Xueyue still couldn't be sure. She was just glad that the content was very vague and her handwriting was like chicken claws.
"It would be a miracle if anyone could read my messy handwriting," she whispered to herself.
Yu Zhen said the same thing. He took one look at her first draft and returned it. He couldn’t understand anything she wrote. He thought back to the letters he had received from her and wondered how many times she had rewritten it to make it legible.
Probably more than five times… but that’s not the point, is it?
"Princess, we're here," the maid ordered.
Li Xueyue snapped back to her senses. She was now standing in front of two doors that were much taller than she was. They were painted bright red, warning intruders to turn in the other direction.
Guards stood on both sides of the corridor.
The eunuchs pushed open the door, revealing a violent argument going on around a huge table.
"Princess Wuyi Li Xueyue has arrived!" he announced.
Every pair of eyes turned to Li Xueyue.
