Yu Lingluo swallowed and looked down at his hands which had turned white from being held by Yuzhen.

"Ouch! It hurts!" she complained.

In less than a second, he let go of her.

Yu Lingluo breathed a sigh of relief and rubbed the painful area. Just when she was distracted, Hu Dengxiao slipped away. But she was busy with other things now.

She had always known that her brother had a bad temper. But he rarely lost it in front of her. Today was different.

Thunderclouds rolled over his face, revealing a deep scowl. Lightning flashed in his eyes, fierce and violent. He was deeply enraged. The temperature around him dropped, but his anger was not directed at her.

"What's wrong?" Yu Lingluo asked in a deep voice. She pouted, even though she knew he was not angry with her.

"Nothing, let's go." He shook his wrist.

Yu Lingluo's shoulders slumped in disappointment. She opened her mouth to protest, but Wu Xiang stepped forward and shook her head.

"Come, Princess, let's go see my wife. I'm sure my children will be happy to see you." Wuxiang said gently.

Trouble was brewing before paradise even began. He glanced hesitantly at the quarreling couple, whose silent glares heightened the tension.

Wu Xiang shook his head, knowing that this was not his place to interrupt.

"but…"

"Don't be stubborn, princess," he encouraged, opening the door to give the couple some space.

Yu Lingluo nodded helplessly. She stared at her brother and found that his attention had shifted elsewhere. She knew that he didn't mean to vent his dissatisfaction to her. But it still hurt to see him grab her so ruthlessly.

Yulingluo didn’t know what angered him. He had never felt such a strong possessiveness towards other women. Usually, it was okay for a woman to touch a woman. Right? Before she could ask, she and Wu Xiang dragged out of the room.

Wu Xiang closed the door behind him and began to lead her down the hallway.

"Did my brother have a fight with the Crown Princess?" Princess Yu Lingluo asked in a low voice, pulling her sleeve.

It was a habit she developed as a child. Whenever her mother scolded her for not listening, she would pull at her sleeves. She was told it was a coping mechanism, but she didn't understand.

"Princess, don't worry." Wuxiang said, his eyes full of anxiety.

Wu Xiang hesitated whether to keep them. He didn't want to see a woman being abused. But then again, Yu Zhen would never hit a woman. It's just... everyone knows that the prince has a bad temper.

Wu Xiang was worried that the prince might be too harsh on his fiancée. This was very likely - even if Yu Zhen liked her.

"Then why do you look so concerned, Brother Xiang?" Princess Yulingluo asked.

"I'm sure you'll like the mung bean cakes my wife baked. She added extra molasses. You have a sweet tooth just like my children," said Wu Xiang.

Although Yu Lingluo was young, she was not stupid. She knew he was deliberately changing the subject. She held back a sigh. She just hoped that people around her would stop treating her like a child. She was sixteen, not six.

"Really?" Yu Lingluo forced himself to say, hoping to sound excited.

Wu Xiang knew she was pretending. Anyway, he smiled and nodded.

"Yes, I'm sure everyone will be delighted to have you here."

Yu Lingluo showed a puzzled smile. She wondered if everything was okay in the prince's private study...

"What's wrong with you?" Li Xueyue pushed his hand away and asked. "You suddenly got angry."

"We had a promise," Yu Zhen said excitedly. "Why did you suddenly shut me out?"

Li Xueyue frowned.

She didn't complain because she didn't want to burden him. He should appreciate that. Besides, she couldn't tell him everything that was on her mind, or he would think of her as a whiny child.

"Why are we arguing again?" she asked. "This is the second or third time we've argued since I got here."

Yu Zhen gritted his teeth. He stared down at her in disbelief. It was she who angered him, not the other way around.

Li Xueyue shook her head angrily. "I want to go back."

Li Xueyue turned and walked towards the door. It barely opened a crack, then closed. She gasped as two arms slammed against the door, trapping her inside. She could feel the warmth seeping off his hot body. Her eyes fell on his hands, which were clenched into fists. Veins showed through his tanned skin.

He was angry.

"Let me out," she demanded, without facing him.

Li Xueyue knew that she would regret it as soon as she turned around. If there was anything that was frightening, it was his eyes. When he was angry, his eyes were as fierce as a beast.

"No. We'll fix this."

"I don't want to," she said through gritted teeth.

She pressed herself closer to the door as he edged closer. His presence was too hard to ignore.

"Li Xueyue, my patience has its limits." He said calmly.

Li Xueyue frowned when she heard his tone. She was worried about his health. He was beyond the level of anger. His calmness scared her. When a livid person calms down, that’s when people should prepare for their lives.

"You're losing your temper," he said softly.

"I'm not-"

"Turn around when you talk to me," he demanded in an icy voice.

Li Xueyue shook her head. "No, you are—" He didn't care about her excuse. He pinched her chin hard and turned her around without warning.

Li Xueyue lost her voice. As she expected. His eyes were very fierce. His melancholy eyes could tear her apart effortlessly.

"Tell me, Li Xueyue, why are you unhappy?"

Li Xueyue caught him off guard and reached out to touch his chin. It was clenched and tightened.

"You'll hurt yourself," she whispered.

Yu Zhen looked at her like she was crazy. One minute she was angry, the next she was concerned about his safety. What on earth was going on in her mind? He was willing to buy a kingdom just to see what was going on in her mind.

No matter how frustrated he was with her, he couldn't resist her touch. She rarely initiated it. He let her fingers rest gently on his chin, her thumb stroking his throat. She didn't mean to tease him, but his body was buzzing. Whether it was from his irritation or her touch, he didn't know.

"You're right," she said suddenly.

Yu Zhen's eyes suddenly fell on her. He certainly didn't expect to hear such words from her.

"You're always the first to do everything, the first to ask me what's wrong, the first to chase me when I run..." Li Xueyue muttered. "Because I'm a coward. I can't do the same thing because I'm worried about what's holding me back."

Yu Zhen watched with hawk-like eyes as her hand dragged to the side of his neck. Her fingertips felt itchy on his skin. He wanted more of her touch. It was fascinating to him.

"I have so much to say, but I get frustrated when I can't voice my concerns. You try so hard to make sure I tell you everything, but I just can't…some things are easier to say aren't done yet," she whispered.

Yu Zhen didn't understand what she was doing to him. Her hands went to his chest, her fingers grasping his clothes. She pulled him close without any effort.

"But won't you chase me for a while?" Li Xueyue whispered. "Until I'm no longer afraid to tell you what's in my heart?"

Yu Zhen pursed his lips. When she looked up at him, her eyes were full of seriousness. How could he refuse her wish? He placed his palm on the hand that was caressing his chest.

He hung his head in defeat.

"The game isn't over yet," he whispered. "Of course I'll keep chasing you."

When he caught her eye, he frowned. Her shoulders were so fragile, yet she carried such a heavy burden. What was burdening her? What was keeping her awake at night? Who was disturbing her nightmares? Who was hurting her?

"Aren't you willing to tell me all your troubles?" Yu Zhen asked softly.

"Soon..." she said.
