"Xueyue." Li Wenmin stopped in front of the door, frowning. He finally found her, but in the most unexpected place in his mind. "What are you doing?"

Xueyue raised her head and turned her attention away from the towel she was wringing out. She sat beside Wen Jinkai's bed and changed the towel on his head. Due to the injury, his body recovered slowly and his immune system was weak, so he had a fever.

"Change the towel?" she responded, placing the cool towel on the unconscious soldier's forehead. Next, she pulled the blanket up a little higher, making sure he was covered, and stood up to close the window. She forced her eyes away from his fitted shirt that showed off his muscles. He wasn't too big, but he had enough biceps for her eyes to wander.

"That's a servant's job," Li Wenmin told her as he walked into the room. "Why are you so obsessed with this clown?"

Xueyue paused and smiled, "He is your friend and your guest. I don't want his condition to get worse."

"I hope you're not doing this because he's handsome, Xiaoyue." Li Wenmin sulked. "He's ugly."

Xueyue chuckled: "I just want to help him."

“You don’t have to do that.”

"But I think," she said expressionlessly, walking towards the seat she had sat in before. However, Li Wenmin blocked her way.

"Little Moon..."

"Brother Wen," she stopped in front of him and said thoughtfully.

"Let's practice archery."

"We just practiced this morning."

"Okay, let's spar."

"But my martial arts skills are not as good as yours." Xueyue smiled. "Are you trying to stop me from seeing him?"

"Who are you meeting?" Li Wenmin panicked, his eyes widened, and he jumped to conclusions faster than his jealous girlfriend.

"You're dating someone else?!" He grabbed her shoulders, "All men are scumbags! Don't trust that man. Wait, who is that man? Okay, Xiaoyue, don't look at me like that, I just want to have a good chat with him." Maybe his heart can talk to my sword later-"

"I just said you were blocking my view of him."

"But I am the scenery." Li Wenmin said with a frown. He seemed to be really confused by her words.

"If you were the scenery, we would all be blind." A voice sounded behind them, and the two turned around and saw Li Chenyang standing at the door. He had a look of disgust on his face. Like Li Wenmin, he was also unhappy to see Xueyue being so attentive to the unconscious Wen Jinkai.

"Chenyang, our Xiaoyue likes Jinkai."

"He's ugly." Chen Yang frowned. "He doesn't know how to treat others properly. You shouldn't like him."

"I - "

"I see. He was already very wealthy when he was a commander in chief. Yes, the emperor and the queen both liked him, but that shouldn't be the reason why you like a man."

"I don't - "

"Xiao Yue, he is mean and cruel. He won't treat you well—"

"I just want to be nice to him! I don't like him like this!" Xueyue interrupted them with a frown. "How come you jump to conclusions faster than Aunt Gossip?"

Li Chenyang and Li Wenmin exchanged glances.

Li Chenyang realized what he had done and cleared his throat awkwardly. "Anyway, Mom is looking for you."

"Oh." Xueyue blinked. "What do you do?"

"Lunch."

"But where's the medicine?" Xueyue pointed to the porcelain bowl on the table, which contained a suspicious colored substance. "The doctor ordered him to drink it."

"I'll ask the maid to feed him. Come on, let's go." Before she could say anything, Li Chenyang quickly led her out the door.

As soon as she opened her mouth, Li Wenmin dragged her farther and farther away from the room. Looking back, the twins showed a knowing look: she must not fall in love with Wen Jinkai. The love between them will be heartbreaking.

It has been a few days since Wen Jinkai was carried into Li's mansion. Because the journey back to Wen's mansion was difficult and not good for the injured, it was decided to stay in Li's mansion until his injury healed. However, the twins knew the truth. Wen Xuangong looked down on the eldest son, and his existence was a painful reminder of his beloved wife who died of excessive blood loss after giving birth to Wen Jinkai.

As the days go by, Wen Jinkai's health is getting better and better.

Xueyue was relieved to see him recover so quickly. Even the doctor pointed out that his recovery speed was faster than that of ordinary people.

In the distance, the chirping of crickets broke the silence of the night. In a beautifully decorated VIP room, the sound of a blanket being dragged could be heard.

A broad-shouldered man leaned against the headboard, a stiff growl coming out of his mouth. Although he woke up from an unexpected coma, his feelings were very strong.

In his seemingly endless sleep cycle, he could hear voices and conversations around him. In particular, a soft voice and an equally soft touch fell on his forehead. Gentle and careful, the voice seemed to be a figment of his imagination, until he clearly heard a name: "Xue Yue."

Wen Jinkai glanced at the neatly wrapped bandage and touched the wound. He stared at the green herbal ointment that had stained the white cotton, but wiped it off as harmless. If the people who saved his life wanted to kill him after his identity was discovered, they would have done it long ago.

He slid out of bed, ignoring the stinging pain that followed, and walked to the door, pushing it open. Immediately, a biting breeze blew through the room. It lowered the temperature, but nothing could match the intensity of his icy gaze as he realized he had been betrayed by his men.

Wen Jinkai clenched the door tightly, his heart burning with anger. A mole. A traitor appeared among the people he trusted. And he already suspected who this person was.

He forced himself to calm his anger until the time was right. He scanned the surroundings with burning eyes and found that he was familiar with this place. The Li family. A rough laugh came out of the corner of his mouth. How ironic. He was saved by a family, and when they learned the truth, they would become contemptuous of him.

He paced around the room, struggling between a normal walk and an occasional barely noticeable limp. He searched for his armor and weapon. After several minutes, he finally found it hidden under the bed.

His carefully crafted armor was washed and polished until it gleamed and showed zero blood stains. His eyes narrowed at the smell of freshly washed clothes. The Lees searched his belongings. He was glad that he only traveled with his weapons and signal whistle.

He noticed that his flute was made of a rare white jade that grew deep in an icy cave whose dangerous rocky paths made the material nearly impossible to obtain. Wisps of smoke passed through the flute, leaving a mellow mixture of snow and ash. It was his heirloom, given to him by his grandfather, but he would not give it to Duke Wen.

For some reason, when Wen Jinkai thought of his grandfather, he remembered the mysterious mentor introduced by the previous head of the Wen family. His mentor was good at archery and swordsmanship, but always kept his identity hidden. Nothing about him was known, except that he might have raised a child with a woman who drugged him.

Wen Jinkai realized he had no time for sentimentality. He went outside and wandered until he found himself at the edge of a forest. He raised the flute to his lips and blew gently, and the unique material produced an interesting sound that could not be matched by a simple instrument. Someone told him that the sound was very similar to the cry of a fallen angel - whatever that meant.

He used his flute to signal those he trusted. The strong wind carried the sound deep into the forest, where it became distorted, but those with special ears waiting for the sound could hear it perfectly.

Wen Jinkai knew he had to leave, and he left immediately. It wasn’t safe for him to hang around in this house, especially when his enemies were actively searching for his whereabouts. He couldn’t risk hurting the people who had saved his life…especially “Xue Yue”, whose voice was like the breath of spring.

In his coma, he heard many voices, but her voice stood out to him. He didn't understand why. Deep down, he knew exactly why, but his stubborn mind couldn't wrap its head around the idea. Instead, he focused his emotions on the traitor. He had foolishly fallen into a trap set by a spy in the army. And he already knew who that person was.
