Li Xueyue laughed. He must be annoyed when he knew that people revealed more information to her than to him.

"Like I said, you're scary. You have an intimidating face - like you're mad or something," she joked.

Yu Zhen frowned. He subconsciously played with the end of her ponytail. He refused to accept it.

"Yu Zhen..." She lowered her voice and looked at him hesitantly.

"Yes dear?" Yu Zhen responded with a throbbing heart. He enjoyed the sound of his name on her tongue. He placed one hand on her waist and held it firmly.

"I want to go to the slums and see what's going on there, and then--"

"Absolutely not."

"But you said you would set me free—"

"It's dangerous out there."

Li Xueyue frowned after hearing his words. "I'm not fragile."

Yu Zhen held back his gaze. It wasn’t that she was weak, it was more that he was worried about her. She was just too precious in his life. He couldn’t bear for her to hurt herself again or disappear. Her pain was his pain.

"Trust me," he told her. "I know my people best."

"It doesn't seem so." Li Xueyue muttered.

“Every country has slums,” Yu Zhen told her.

“Perhaps more schools would prevent this from happening.” Li Xueyue told him. “Also, I think we should increase the war tax on the nobles.”

Yu Zhen nodded. Anything could change the subject. "Is that what you wanted?"

"And lower taxes on everything else. Plus representation for every social class, not just the middle and upper class."

"anything else?"

"And a kiss?"

Yu Zhen's face went blank.

She chuckled, but he caught her off guard. She was joking, but he obviously didn't think so. He pinched her chin and lifted her face up.

"Zhenzhen, did we take too long--oh."

Yu Zhen was disturbed and frowned. He put her chin down and pulled her close, knowing that her face was red with embarrassment. Li Xueyue spoke boldly, but was always so easily frightened.

"Shut up and continue talking." Yu Zhen ordered.

Hu Dengxiao stood up straight and saluted the commander. "Yes sir!"

Yu Zhen reached out and patted him on the back of the head.

Hu Dengxiao covered his hands and let out a sharp cry of pain. "Zhenzhen, if you keep going like this, I'll lose my brain!"

"You don't know anymore." Yu Zhen roared. He took the reins of Black Moon from the counselor and led the horse towards them.

Hu Dengxiao pouted after hearing his words. "But people tell me that I am the wisest strategist of this era..."

Lu Tianbi was amused by his actions. "That's because the competition is not fierce."

She handed over the power of Xiao Lizi to Yu Zhen. Ma snorted and nudged her with his elbow.

"Little thing is biased." Yu Zhen muttered. After hearing his words, Xiao Lizi seemed to understand and trotted to him.

With his distraction, Li Xueyue easily slipped out of his arms. She wondered what was wrong with him always insisting on touching her. He hadn't done that much in Wuyi.

Li Xueyue patted the side of Heiyue's head. She jumped onto the horse effortlessly. Before she could ride away quickly, Yu Zhen grabbed the side of Heiyue's reins.

"So where do you think you're going?"

Li Xueyue stared down at his hand. Why did he react so quickly? She thought he was distracted by Hu Dengxiao.

"Don't be stubborn." Yu Zhen demanded.

"Just looking," she assured.

"We are going back." Yu Zhen told her. In the blink of an eye, he was on Xiao Lizi.

Li Xueyue slumped her shoulders in disappointment. She played with Black Moon's mane, refusing to look at the stubborn mule beside her. He heard him sigh in irritation. But she still ignored him.

"I'm doing this for your own good, Sunshine. You have to realize that."

"I'm just worried about the people there, that's all."

“I always go around town,” Yu Zhen told her. “I know the situation there. But things have improved a lot after I created more jobs by rebuilding war-damaged buildings.”

"But there are still thieves—"

"I said it's getting better, but I'm not saying it's perfect. But with enough time and patience, there won't be any more kids on the streets."

Li Xueyue looked up sharply. "Also provide more funds to the orphanage. Maybe that's why they resorted to stealing."

Yu Zhen raised his eyebrows. "Some things are easier said than done."

"Well, it's just that I don't think you know how to compromise," she said truthfully.

Li Xueyue was surprised by what happened today. Of course, everything requires some arguments, but that's normal, isn't it? As long as it's not a real fight. It's just a normal debate.

"Because you told me your wish."

Li Xueyue tilted her head. What did he mean by this?

Seeing her curious expression, Yu Zhen's smile became even more bitter. "Yangguang, I can't read your mind. As you said, communication is important. So, continue to tell me your thoughts."

Hu Dengxiao screamed softly, and Yu Zhen cast a gloomy look at him. He immediately shut up.
