It was hot. Scorchingly hot. Warmth ambushed her from all sides. It felt suffocating. She found it hard to breathe, but at least the biting cold had stopped.

Li Xueyue slowly opened her eyes. She blinked and adjusted her blurry vision. Even so, she had a hard time concentrating. She wanted to rub her eyes, but found that her arms were tightly clamped by something.

"Where..." Her voice trailed off.

Li Xueyue was a little lost and confused. Even when her vision became clear, she couldn't focus. It took her a while to fully understand what was happening.

She remembered falling asleep in the cave. The biting cold was killing her. But she wasn't dead. Or was she?

Li Xueyue's eyes widened. Black Moon! Where was her horse? She used all her strength to sit up straight. Several layers of blankets slipped from her chest. She touched the soft fabric and examined her surroundings.

The room was even larger and grander than the one she had stayed in Wuyi. She was greeted by muslin curtains, tiled borders on the ceiling, and gold trim. The room was large and well decorated. The design, the furnishings, the colors, it was a beautiful room.

"Where am I?" she asked loudly.

Li Xueyue couldn't remember much. But that didn't stop her from sliding off the bed. She was confused when something slipped out of her body. She reached into the quilt and touched something warm. Pulling it out, she was puzzled to find that it was a stone wrapped in a layer of cloth. The stone was still hot to the touch, which meant it had been heated before.

“Am I suffering from hypothermia?” Li Xueyue asked. She looked down at her clothes. They were changed. She was wearing a thick pajamas. The style was completely different from Wuyi.

"Is this... Han Jian?" she thought to herself.

Li Xueyue noticed that there were different types of shoes beside her bed. She concluded that the place where she lived now was definitely not Wuyi.

Putting on her shoes, she headed to what looked like a huge closet. She browsed numbly until she spotted a robe. With a sigh of relief, she wrapped her nightgown around her.

Then, Li Xueyue walked towards the door.

She needed to figure out where the hell she was. If this was Han Jian, then how did she get here? She had no memory of ever meeting someone. Worst case scenario, she was in some random noble's house. But who could be so rich to afford such a big house?

Li Xueyue opened the door with a creak, startling the guards outside. As soon as they saw her, they straightened up and then knelt down.

"Miss, how can I help you?"

Li Xueyue paused. There was a slight accent. The voice was faint, but she heard it. It was very similar to the one Yu Zhen spoke.

"Uh..." She trailed off, unsure of what she wanted.

"Where am I?" she finally asked.

The guards were unsure of her identity. They didn't know who she was. When she was transferred to the Crown Princess's palace, suspicion aroused. They had a hunch in their hearts, but they didn't dare to think too much.

"Miss, you live in the Crown Princess Palace."

Li Xueyue raised her eyebrows. It turned out that she really arrived in Hanjian. It seemed that she was in the palace. But how? Who sent her here?

She opened her mouth, but closed it again. Would it be inappropriate for her to summon Yu Zhen? Wasn’t he the crown prince? Wouldn’t it be better to bring her to him? She touched her waist, and fear struck her heart. Where was her schoolbag? Where was Yu Zhen’s pendant? !

Li Xueyue stormed back into the bedroom. It was too big, with nooks and crannies she didn’t know about. Finding the pendant was impossible.

"What's the problem, miss?" a guard asked.

Another guard also felt something was wrong. They had just started their shift after swapping shifts with their colleagues.

None of them knew who was inside, so they just guarded the door with their lives. What should they do at this time? Notify the eunuchs?

The guards remembered hearing not to disturb people in the room. There was also gossip that Lu Tianbi would be standing guard with them, which was strange considering her new position. Sure, she had been a soldier, but now, she was the prince's right-hand man.

The guards waited patiently for the young lady to speak. She was very beautiful, but they did not dare to take a second look at her.

Li Xueyue licked her lower lip. "Will you take me to see the prince?"

The guards paused. The Crown Prince...? He's a man of great authority. Not just anyone can see him.

If you want to see him, you need to make a request at least three days in advance to be allowed to meet the prince.

"Unfortunately, this is beyond our capabilities, ma'am. The prince is not someone we can approach easily," said another guard.

Li Xueyue frowned. “So where is he now?” she asked. Their antics were strange, but she ignored them. They had no idea who she was.

Li Xueyue hesitated whether to show Yu Zhen’s pendant. This would get to the point, and no one would refuse her request to see him. She just hesitated whether to use it. This was something she had never done before.

The guards didn't know the answer. They looked away.

Li Xueyue crossed her arms. "Find a eunuch."

"Excuse me, miss?"

“You heard it.” Li Xueyue had a blank expression on her face. It seemed that none of them knew who she was. She didn’t care whether it was for her benefit or not. Someone needed to explain to her what was going on.

The guards wanted to refuse her order, but when they met her cold gaze, they could not refuse. Her temperament made it hard to refuse.

"Understood, ma'am," the guard said. He lowered his head and hurried to find the eunuch. But it was already late at night. Who could get up?

As the guards wondered and searched, he came back empty-handed. He cursed his horrible fate. Why was he assigned such a troublesome task tonight?

He continued to wander around until he finally found someone who could help. When he saw someone, his eyes lit up.

Is that... the Speaker's son?

The guard stumbled. What on earth was the chancellor's son staying up all night for? He noticed that the man was walking with his servant, who appeared to be carrying a large stack of parchment.

"Your Excellency," the guard said. He approached the Speaker's son and bowed his head.

The chancellor's son, a young man in his twenties, looked down at the unexpected guard. What did this man do outside of work? Still, he raised an eyebrow and waited for the guard to speak.

"There is a..." The guard trailed off, not knowing what to say to her. "A strange woman has come to see His Royal Highness the Crown Prince."

"What?" the minister's son asked incredulously. "Get rid of her," he snapped.

"She must be a mad woman. It's the middle of the night," he added.

"This is what happened, my Lord," the guard began. He looked around and spotted the servant behind the influential minister's son. He lowered his voice so the servant wouldn't hear.

"That woman lives in the bedroom designated for the Crown Princess," the guard whispered.

Hearing this, the minister's son's eyebrows rose. Oh, how interesting. A playful smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.

The minister's son wanted to meet the lady in person, but decided not to. The documents being delivered tonight were more confidential than usual. He needed to do it in person.

"Return to your post," the Prime Minister's son instructed. "Inform the lady that her request to see the Crown Prince will be considered."

The guard couldn't do much more. He just hoped that the son of the chancellor of finance would be more aware of the situation. The guard lowered his head and hurried back to the prince's palace to pass on the message.
