The next day, an unexpected guest came to the Li Mansion. Li Xueyue got up late and was rushing to the dining room when she heard a slight noise. She was curious about why the servants rushed through the corridor, so she grabbed one of the servants.

"What's wrong?" Li Xueyue asked.

When the eunuch saw her, he immediately bowed. When she allowed him to do so, he lowered his head and then stood up. "Miss, there is a guest and the master must be notified."

"Oh, who is it? Why is everyone so anxious?"

"Miss, the guest is Commander Wen Jinkai."

Li Xueyue blinked in surprise. Her lips parted in shock. Did Wen Jinkai finally believe her? That Li Minghua is still alive? Did he come to check it out in person?

"I see," was her only reply, as she excused the eunuch, who bowed again and ran away, while she began to walk towards the dining-room.

Li Xueyue felt that whether Wen Jinkai was in the Li Mansion had nothing to do with her. He didn't come here to see her or anything. Now that he didn't actively pursue her, there was no need to be so vigilant.

However, Li Xueyue was too curious. She wanted to find out the purpose of his sudden visit. Did the Duke or Duchess know about this in advance? Did he have an appointment?

"Well, this should be fun," she said to herself.

Li Xueyue quickened her pace and walked quickly to the restaurant. She had overslept and was already late. The supplement did help her fall asleep, but it took longer than expected to take effect on her. On top of that, she was still having nightmares.

"Oh, I thought he was scheduled to come here." Li Xueyue said.

"No," replied King Li Chenyang at the table. He waved her to join them for breakfast. "The food is getting cold."

"Father is right, Xueyue, go eat." Li Chenyang said. "I will personally talk to Wen Jinkai and find a way to send him away. We don't need him to make trouble."

Li Xueyue shook her head slowly. She moved closer and lowered her voice. "Wouldn't it be better to let him in? He'd better talk to Minghua. I think he knows that we are behind the murder of the royal family."

"He does know that we hinted at him." Li Chenyang whispered.

"If he gets angry with us, Minghua can help calm him down." Li Xueyue muttered.

Li Chenyang lowered his eyes and looked at her. When did she start to like taking advantage of others? She became more cunning. Or has she always been like this? Has someone exposed her worst side?

Only King Li Chenyang noticed the whispered conversation between the children. Seeing Chenyang looking back, he raised his eyebrows.

"Perhaps it would be better if we went and met him, Dad."

King Li Chenyang's eyes fell on Xueyue. No doubt, she had some influence on Chenyang's decision. "I'm glad you came to this conclusion. Why don't we invite him to breakfast?"

"Dad!" Li Wenmin shouted immediately. "You want to fight so early in the morning? Xiao Yue and Xiao Hua are here. There must be something wrong if we let him in."

"Wenmin, he is a guest," Lord Li Chenyang replied. "We cannot turn him away. Especially after what happened recently. Have pity on this poor commander who has lost his family."

Duchess Wang Qixing shook her head. "You two are here, it's best to see him now."

Li Minghua shrank back into her seat. She couldn't deny her mother's kindness. "I just..."

Prince Li Chenyang's hard heart broke a little for her. Li Minghua had suffered too much in the palace. "We shouldn't let Wen Jinkai wait any longer."

Li Chenyang nodded. He turned to the eunuch who had been standing at the door. "Go and tell the servants to send Wen Jinkai to the dining room."

"That's the Second Young Master," the eunuch bowed and replied. He walked away to deliver the message.

Li Chenyang's hand moved from the open door to Xueyue's back. "Come and sit down, don't just stand here."

Li Xueyue's eyes fell on Minghua and the servants, and they quickly made room for another seat at the large table.

Li Chenyang was a little suspicious of why she ate so little. He lowered his voice and said, "Let's change seats. Instead of you facing Minghua, you face Wenmin."

Li Xueyue looked up suddenly. She was caught off guard by his sudden proposal. "Thank you, Brother Chen. I'll be very grateful."

He smiled and patted her cheek. "In return, I expect you to eat more than usual," he negotiated, poking her cheek. "See this? It's sinking in because you've lost a lot of weight."

She smacked his hand. "I think I look good."

"You're as perfect as ever, but I want to see our second little pig come back." Li Chenyang retorted frustratedly.

“Until they grow up.”

Li Chenyang was amused by her words. She rarely sulked. It was cute. When she showed him this side of herself, he wanted to become even more overprotective.

"Xiaoyue." Li Wenmin wailed. "Come and sit down. We need to fight for the braised eggs, otherwise it won't feel like a real breakfast."

"Is that why you're using sharpened chopsticks again?" Li Xueyue teased as she began to approach the table with Li Chenyang right behind her.

"Of course!" Li Wenmin shouted. "Why else would I need these? To stab the eggs, which are too slippery to pick up."

"Be careful of Xueyue." Li Chenyang murmured. "If you eat too many eggs, you will become as stupid as him."

"Be careful of Xueyue," Li Wenmin taunted loudly. "If you read too much, you will only be as smart as him."

Li Chenyang rolled his eyes at his childish brother. "How about you act like the boss when you grow up?"

"How about you behave like the boss when you grow up?" Li Wenmin also imitated the same voice.

Li Chenyang narrowed his eyes. "Just wait, you damned boy. As soon as mom and dad look away, I will hit you on the head!"

Li Wenmin glared back at his brother.

The two finally interrupted the conversation when Wang Li Chenyang cleared his throat, but couldn’t help but uttered a “humph” as they crossed their arms and looked away.
