Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 246 Lead the way
The court officials were talking about it. They began to discuss how far the situation had escalated. Lord Li Chenyang was stunned, but the people around him ran faster than horses.
Duchess Wang Qixing was startled and immediately grabbed Li Xueyue, asking anyone who dared to touch her daughter.
"Your Majesty, you are going too far," she said. "For such a minor crime as bullying a servant, the punishment is only an apology."
"So as her mother, you also admitted the crime, so I tell you, there is no benefit in raising a child." Fa Dongdi looked at the reactions of the crowd and shook his head.
The guards stepped forward and rushed towards Li Xueyue, ready to take her away, but a man got there first.
Wen Jinkai drew his sword and stood in front of Li Xueyue. "Anyone who touches her will lose that hand," he said angrily.
Faced with his threat, the guards did not hesitate. They did not care that he was the battlefield demon lord. The two sides fought thirty to one. What could go wrong?
The guards rushed towards the commander without any hesitation, but this was their first mistake. Wen Jinkai pushed Li Xueyue back, and his sword collided with a soldier. At the same time, reinforcements were also rushing in. The shadow guards came out from their hiding place and supported their master at the first time.
"Wen Jinkai!" Fa Dongdi shouted. "Draw your sword quickly. You are so bold to draw your weapon in front of me."
Wen Jinkai chopped off a soldier effortlessly. He drew out his bloody long sword without hesitation and stabbed it into the ground.
He smiled. "A murder has taken place right before your eyes, and I am the one who bullied that useless servant. Now, what crime do you have against me?"
Emperor Fadong was taken aback by his son’s reckless behavior. His face wrinkled with pure anger. Today everyone was testing his strength. “Have you fallen into the princess’s scheme to get powerful men to help her?”
Li Xueyue almost slapped herself in the face at the emperor's insult. She glanced up at him, surprised that he would make such a bold accusation that would instantly ruin her reputation. She felt the ministers' supportive and sympathetic glances turn to curiosity and suspicion. As tensions mounted, the accusations continued.
Wen Jinkai let out a dark laugh. "Everyone here should know that I will never fall in love with anyone again."
There was a flash of confusion in the emperor's angry eyes, and then he suddenly realized. For a moment, regret and guilt clouded his judgment and overwhelmed his heart. But now it was all meaningless.
Li Minghua is dead. What is the point of commemorating her afterwards?
Fa Dongdi said angrily: "You disappoint me." "Get out of my sight, this is not the punishment you should bear, this is Li Xueyue's punishment."
"I. Was. Injured. That. Servant." Wen Jinkai emphasized every word. "Four simple words, Your Majesty will definitely understand."
"you-"
"If you want to accuse someone of this stupid crime, it should be me," Wen Jinkai roared. "We all know that you didn't punish Li Xueyue for this. What is your real purpose, Your Majesty?"
The emperor saw blood. The disrespect shown to him by the people in this room could be piled up like a mountain. "Are you so eager to be punished?" he said angrily. "Wonderful."
Wen Jinkai stood there, and Emperor Fadong motioned the eunuch to come forward. An edict was immediately read out by the man.
"Hereby, from today on, Commander Wen Jinkai will be charged with treason and exiled—" the eunuch choked. Blood gushed out from his throat, which was pierced by an arrow. He staggered, fell to the ground, and died instantly.
A riot broke out in the court. The ministers rushed out of the throne room, but realized that they were safer outside the walls than inside the throne room door.
Soldiers from all sides of the throne room swarmed up the stairs. They formed a protective barrier around the emperor and the princes, and hurried to escort them away to safety. They avoided the main entrance facing the throne room, which was considered the most dangerous.
Duchess Wang Qixing knew there was a change of plan. She glanced back and her eyes widened as she saw rows of soldiers pouring up the steps. They all wore masks, hiding their identities.
Screams of terror echoed in the throne room, and more soldiers wearing masks began to pour in from all directions. The scene was in chaos, and the sound of swords clashing could be heard one after another.
“We have to run.” Duchess Wang Qixing took Li Xueyue’s hand and pulled her towards King Li Chenyang.
Li Xueyue was stunned by what had just happened. Was this the assassination that was hinted at?
“Go!” Wen Jinkai roared, pushing the mother and daughter in the direction of the Duke, blocking a soldier.
“We have to hurry!” Duchess Wang Qixing dragged Li Xueyue towards her husband. When she saw the panicked look on her husband’s face, she knew it was acting.
The Duke never panicked. Even in the worst storms, he would remain calm with his passive, thoughtful eyes.
Duke Li Chenyang hurriedly drove his wife and daughter out of the palace. He led them in the opposite direction of the soldiers. More and more guards poured into the palace and ran past the Li family. No one spared them, but this was exactly what the Duke wanted.
"What's going on?" Li Xueyue asked as she quickly caught up with her parents.
"There's been a change of plan," King Li Chenyang explained. "We have to get all of you home first. The twins are waiting there—"
"But Chenyang has work today, and Wenmin should also be in the training camp." Duchess Wang Qixing said as they came to a dark corridor leading to a secret passage.
"stop!"
King Li Chenyang cursed in a low voice. He turned around and saw an imperial soldier.
"Prime Minister, I didn't know it was you." The leader of the team stepped forward, but he didn't look apologetic at all. "No further, this is a secret passage that only the royal family can use. No one else is allowed to use it."
"What are you doing here?" Lord Li Chenyang asked. "The Emperor is in danger in the throne room. We need all the soldiers there as soon as possible."
"I understand your point, Prime Minister, but you are under the Emperor's protection. We were told to escort you elsewhere."
Li Chenyang immediately became suspicious. Why did the emperor want to protect them? When was this order issued?
Lord Li Chenyang stiffened. Did the Emperor understand the plan? Following royal evacuation protocol meant they would be escorted out of the palace and into a safe house.
Duchess Wang Qixing found that there were no guards around them. In the chaos of the battle, everyone was scattered. What happened?
Li Chenyanggong had no choice but to agree. These soldiers could easily defeat all of them.
"Very well, gentlemen, lead the way," he said reluctantly.
The soldiers nodded and began to lead the way down the corridor. Duke Li Chenyang stood protectively in front of his family as the soldiers walked ahead of them. He could only hope that everything would go according to plan, but he was not prepared for this chaotic night.
