Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 236 Time is passing
"Don't keep the guests waiting for too long." Li Chenyang said. He didn't know if Yuzhen had come and Xueyue was on her way home. He hoped that she could come back safely and quickly.
Li Chenyang wanted to meet her before going on a business trip. He vaguely remembered that the palace was open to the outside world today. Let the younger generation understand how the internal politics work.
However, Li Chenyang didn't care. So many people were chasing her, and he didn't plan to take Xueyue to visit the palace.
Li Chenyang sighed. There were so many things to do today. Would the courtiers have time to bring people? He frowned. Maybe it was time for him to increase their workload.
"What are you doing standing there like a tree? Come on." Duchess Wang Qixing called out to him. She was now standing at the end of the corridor, looking back at her son.
"I'm here." Li Chenyang said. He walked quickly towards her, and soon they stopped outside the living room.
The eunuch opened the door for them and said loudly, "Welcome Madam Wang Qixing and our Master Li Chenyang!"
Duchess Wang Qixing walked into the room first. Li Chenyang, who followed behind her, was just as confused as she was. What happened?
Sitting on the chair was a well-dressed Han Jian soldier. Indeed, his equipment was better and he had an aura that surpassed that of ordinary soldiers. He looked friendlier, but they knew it was just a superficial appearance, designed to make people relax their vigilance.
"I'm sorry to be here on such short notice," the man said, standing up to greet them. "My name is Hu Dengxiao."
Li Chenyang vaguely remembered seeing him and Yu Zhen in the palace.
"I have important news, ma'am." Hu Dengxiao took off his helmet and held it against his chest.
"What is it?" Duchess Wang Qixing sat down and motioned him to do the same. "Please sit down and have a cup of tea. It's freshly brewed."
"I'm worried that time will slip away from me." Hu Dengxiao glanced at the prime minister's son. Even at such a distance, he could feel the man's scrutinizing eyes scanning him.
"I'm here to inform you that some emergencies have occurred in Han, so our commander and every soldier must return to our homeland as soon as possible."
"What happened?" Li Chenyang asked. "Why didn't your commander tell us about this in person? Sending you here is disrespectful to us."
Hu Dengxiao lowered his head. "Our commander received the news two weeks ago. The second prince should have returned the same day he learned about this, but he stayed in Wuyi and negotiated with the young lady of our family. Just yesterday, another piece of news came. "The letter has been delivered. This time, the matter can no longer be ignored."
"Finally confirmed?" Li Chenyang hissed. "Your Second Prince said he was interested in Xueyue, and then he got up and left, like it was none of anyone's business. What do you mean he should have left two weeks ago?"
Duchess Wang Qixing vaguely remembered what happened. Xueyue hurriedly caught up with Yu Zhen and scraped her knee. Fortunately, no scar was left.
Duchess Wang Qixing didn't know what urgent matter had forced Yu Zhen to jump into his carriage. The Li soldiers conveyed to her the anxious look on Yu Zhen's face and the speed at which he left the manor. It was as if he was being chased by an evil spirit!
"We can't reveal any information because it's confidential. However, our commander wrote her a letter." Hu Dengxiao reached into his pocket and pulled out a neatly folded letter.
Duchess Wang Qixing took it from him and squinted at the wax seal. What annoyed her was that every man who came to Xueyue seemed to have some kind of baggage.
"Okay, I'll have someone deliver it to my daughter right away." Duchess Wang Qixing said as she put the letter into her sleeve pocket.
Hu Dengxiao bowed slightly. "Thank you, we will be very grateful, ma'am."
Li Chenyang's lips curled up slightly. "Tell your commander that we have never been so disappointed in him. If he wants our Xueyue, he has to come and get her in person."
Hu Dengxiao bit his tongue and said nothing. He could do nothing but nod.
Talking to nobles wasn't his forte. It was Lu Tianbi's. She was supposed to be sent here, but he volunteered to take her place. She would have to go behind the army, which was too dangerous for a woman - even if she was a trained soldier.
Duchess Wang Qixing took a look at the soldier and knew that he was not an ordinary person. This Hu Dengxiao must be the commander's confidant. Otherwise, why would Yu Zhen send this soldier to deliver important information?
"When will your commander come back?" Duchess Wang Qixing asked.
Hu Dengxiao turned to look at her worriedly. "Wait until he finalizes everything in Han."
"What happened in Hanjian?" Li Chenyang muttered. "The Prime Minister will get wind of it eventually. It's better for you to tell us now than not to tell us."
“With all due respect, Minister Li,” Hu began. “This is news you will never hear.”
Duchess Wang Qixing narrowed her eyes. This soldier upset her to the end, but so did they. “Do you have anything to reassure us that we shouldn’t promise our Xueyue to another man?”
Hu Dengxiao panicked. Li Xueyue was another man's? Yu Zhen would think about this!
"Madam, don't worry. Our commander will come here as soon as he has the chance. Don't marry her off to another man. Our commander is still very interested in her. Otherwise, he wouldn't have sent me here, right?"
Duchess Wang Qixing frowned. She wanted to know why Yuzhen couldn't come here and beg to take Li Xueyue back to Hanjian.
The soldier mentioned that Yu Zhen was finalizing something. Could it be that the Han court was too lively and Xue Yue didn't dare to get involved?
Li Chenyang sighed. They could do nothing about this man. He was not like Yu Zhen.
Duchess Wang Chil-sing placed her warm hand on her son's elbow, hoping to ease his troubles.
Duchess Wang Qixing turned to face Hu Dengxiao. "Tell your commander that the Li family is very disappointed and dissatisfied with his behavior, but we will respect his efforts for our Xueyue. We will wait, but not for too long."
Hu Dengxiao felt like a huge mountain had been lifted off his shoulders. He was very grateful for her actions and bowed deeply to her words. “Thank you very much, ma’am, we really appreciate your decision!”
Li Chenyang smiled bitterly. "Anything else?"
"Not at all," Hu Dengxiao said, "everything that needs to be said is in the letter." Please convey it to Miss Li.
Duchess Wang Qixing nodded helplessly. She was very curious about what was written in the letter.
"That's all," Hu Dengxiao said. "Please forgive me, Ms. Wang and Minister Li, but I'm afraid I have to leave as soon as possible."
Li Chenyang took a step aside. "I wish you a safe return to Hanjian."
Hu Dengxiao nodded. "Thank you."
Duchess Wang Qixing left before she could escort Hu Dengxiao.
