Li Xueyue ran as if she were being chased by an evil spirit. She kept running, not stopping to catch her breath even when her lungs were about to give out. She continued to sprint as if it was her life. Halfway through the run, she slipped the ring right onto her finger. No one could take it away from her now. Unless they took it away from her. She would never let that happen.

Finally, she looked back to see if Chen Yang was chasing her.

In a daze, she bumped roughly into a small table near the corridor. She screamed in fear and watched in horror as an expensive vase tumbled off the table.

"No!" she cried, reaching out to catch it, but her fingers merely grazed the painted china. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion, from the vase tumbling off the table to a large hand catching the vase seconds before it crashed to the ground.

"Okay then." Yu Zhen looked thoughtful, watching with interest as her expression changed from fear to shock, and then to relief.

Yu Zhen put the vase back on the table and adjusted its position so that nothing seemed out of place. Less than a second after his fingers left the vase, he felt something pounce on him, almost catching him off guard. He took a small step back, his lips twitching to hold back the huge smile that was about to burst out.

"You did miss me," he commented in a gentle voice.

Li Xueyue buried her face in his clothes and held him tighter with her arms. She felt the rumble of his chest as he sneered and put his arms around her, pulling her closer. He rested a hand behind her head and stroked her hair tenderly.

"What's the hurry?" Yu Zhen asked, his voice just as gentle and warm as she remembered.

Li Xueyue didn't respond for a long time, as if she cherished this moment and wanted to keep it in her pocket for the rest of her life. She couldn't resist the comfort of his steady arms, nor could she ignore the pounding of his erratic heartbeat against her ears. He was as happy to see her as she was.

Yu Zhen didn't mind her silence. He continued to hold her, not caring about the surroundings. If there was one thing in the world that mattered, it was this tiny moment, no matter how fleeting it was.

"I missed you," she whispered, her voice barely louder than a whisper.

Yu Zhen couldn't hold back his laughter any longer. "We haven't seen each other for just one day," he teased, lowering his head to give her a loving kiss on the top of her head.

Li Xueyue hoped her stomach would stop moving and her heart would stop beating. How could she imagine leaving him when he made her the happiest and craziest? Moments like this were a cruel reminder that not everything was forever.

“Don’t you miss me?” Li Xueyue asked suddenly, taking a step back and revealing a little pout that she didn’t know she had.

Seeing her sulking and looking up at him, Yu Zhen couldn't help but burst into laughter as if she had been wronged by the whole world. He held her face, squeezed her cheeks with his thumbs, and then pressed her cheeks together, watching her pouty lips turn into pouty lips. She narrowed her eyes, annoyed by his behavior.

"I missed teasing you." His smile widened as she angrily kicked his shin. It only hurt a little, but he pretended not to feel anything.

"Will that hurt?" he teased.

Li Xueyue frowned after hearing what he said, and the expression on that wrinkled face was not a good-looking expression. She began to slap his chest in frustration, forcing him to let her go. He was so despicable that he actually bullied her like this!

Yu Zhen couldn't help laughing when he heard her answer. Who could resist the urge to tease her when she acted like an angry kitten? His laughter further angered her, and she began to struggle in his arms, throwing her arms and legs everywhere.

In the blink of an eye, he grabbed her wrist and pressed her against the wall. He was careful not to hurt her, but he couldn't stop the venom in his dark eyes. He pressed his body on top of hers, imprisoning her.

"Relax now," he whispered. He lowered his head toward her. He could feel her body tense and tense with anticipation, her eyes fluttering closed.

The corners of Yu Zhen’s mouth twitched again. He knew what she was waiting for. He lowered his lips and landed on her soft lips. At the last moment, he changed direction and kissed the corner of her mouth, and her eyes opened impatiently.

Li Xueyue felt a wave of heat on her body. He playfully kissed her from the corner of her lips to her earlobe.

She trembled in response. His grip on her wrist tightened.

Her knees shook as his warm breath fanned over her ear, his teeth grazing her earlobe before he placed a final kiss behind it.

She groaned in protest as he pulled away, his eyes darker than usual. There was a fire in his eyes, hotter than her buzzing body.

"We should stop." It wasn't a suggestion, it was an order. He was already on the edge of his limit, his voice tense and controlled. One more temptation and he would take her right then and there.

Her voice was extremely soft. "No."

She pressed her body against his until he could feel all of her, just as she could feel all of him. She always found it amusing; his voice was gruff, his body stiff, but his touch was always gentle. He was hesitant and afraid, treating her like she would break in his hands. She preferred him to use his hands to help her reach that breaking moment.

Li Xueyue's cheeks heated up as the dirty suggestion flashed through her mind. "Let's continue."

In the blink of an eye, he gently grasped her throat with one hand and forced her head up. The sudden movement made her gasp, and an unfamiliar warmth surged to her lower abdomen. His fingers pressed her sensitive spots, but not hard enough to hurt her.

"Don't tempt me," he growled, his eyes blazing with fire.

Li Xueyue felt her heart jump. He held her neck so lightly that she hardly felt it.

She opened her mouth to reply, but his body pressed firmly against hers. Her eyes widened slightly as she felt something press against her thigh. His free hand began to slide from her shoulder, sliding lower and lower, teasingly brushing the side of her breast before settling on her hip.

"Don't mess with me. I won't be gentle." He put his arm around her waist and warned her.

"Who said I want you to be gentle?"

His whole body tensed, his eyes narrowed dangerously, and in the blink of an eye, his lips were on hers, grasping them roughly.

His kiss was relentless, cruel, even punishing, but that didn't stop her from meeting his ferocity. Her body hummed as he pulled back, only to kiss her madly again. Her fingers dug into him, clenching the parts of her that she didn't know she could still hold.

When he returned, she was panting. His chest rose and fell against hers. His burning, mocking gaze pierced her heart. The tension between them was inevitable, and he wanted nothing more than to pull her into one of the rooms and have his way with her.

"This is a warning, Sunshine," he whispered.

The hand around her throat loosened and slid down her body, his fingers brushing over all her curves. Without warning, he pulled her lower body closer to him, promising himself that nothing would ever come between them. He would try to keep it that way.

She was his. He wouldn't have it any other way.
