Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble

Chapter 173: Frustrating Chapter Title

"This test of time will be beneficial to both of you." Although Li Chenyang was reluctant to support this idea, he pointed out.

Li Chenyang was afraid that she would be heartbroken if she chose to go to Hanjian with Yu Zhen, but he was also afraid that she would be heartbroken if she stayed in Wuyi. Being away from Yu Zhen, with no normal means of communication except for the occasional letter or two, was such a bleak thing for the lovers.

Long distance relationships are always difficult.

When this depressing topic was brought up, there was a suffocating feeling in the room.

Li Xueyue turned her gaze to the locked window. She walked absentmindedly to the door, unlocked it, pushed it open and looked out. A cool breeze blew past her, calming her restless nerves. She leaned out of the window and looked up at the cloudless night sky and the starry sky.

Li Chenyang quietly watched her bathing in the moonlight. She exuded an elegant light all over her body, like a fairy who fell from the sky but suddenly missed home.

"If the Bai family weren't holding us back, and there was no need to worry about us, would you give it a try for him?" Li Chenyang asked.

Li Xueyue leaned back and met his gaze. She whispered, "I do."

Her voice was mellow and soft, so light that it was almost carried away by the wind.

Li Chenyang knew this would be her response. He didn't even have to ask. People were fools when it came to love, and the few who were willing to sacrifice everything would do so immediately.

Li Xueyue knew she was stupid. She had been deceived by love in the form of Zheng Leiyu before, but she answered Li Chenyang without hesitation. She thought her heart would never heal from Zheng Leiyu's betrayal, and no one in this world could convince her, but maybe it was because no one in her life had ever come close to Yu Zhen's existence.

Zheng Leiyu's smile came at the expense of her happiness, but Yu Zhen made her happy with her smile.

After a brief discussion to confirm the details of the plan, the siblings parted ways. They decided that Li Chenyang would keep the scroll because he had more secret hiding places.

Meanwhile, Li Xueyue returned to her room. She fell exhausted on the bed, not caring about the hairpins and makeup that needed to be removed.

Li Xueyue was already drowsy and didn't dare to move even a finger. "It's been a long day," she sighed, her shoulders relaxed as she melted into the comfort of her bed, but her uneasy heart began to weigh her down.

What if Li Chenyang's prediction is true...? What if Yu Zhen never picks her up from Wuyi again? What if he suddenly decides that a woman from Han is more beneficial to him? There are many things he can choose from.

“Stop thinking these stupid thoughts!” Li Xueyue groaned and turned over in her bed. Her thoughts spiraled down the rabbit hole, conjuring up the worst-case scenarios in her mind until she was too frightened of herself to have a restful night.

This was indeed the case. Lying motionless on the bed, Li Xueyue finally fell into a drowsy sleep, but this time, her mind was troubled by the most terrifying nightmare.

three years ago.

"I'm hungry..." Bai Xueyue muttered to herself. She curled up in the corner of the bedroom which was even smaller than the servants' quarters.

Bai Xueyue didn't know why, but she always felt that this corner of the bedroom was the place where she felt most at ease. Perhaps it was because this narrow corner pressed against her shoulders, and it felt like her mother's gentle hands hugging her.

Bai Xueyue placed one hand on her belly, which was flat and never full. She hugged it and cringed when her legs almost fell out from under her. How long had she been in this position? She slept here instead of in this properly sized bed. She couldn't even tell whether it was early morning or late at night.

She accidentally talked back to Viscount Bai Sheng, who put her back in her room and refused to eat for three days. He left her in isolation and even used a wooden board to knock on her window to seal her off.

'Hunger is the least of my worries...' she told herself, deciding to at least give her water, even if it tasted weird and random bits of food could be found at the bottom of the small bowl.

Bai Xueyue hesitated and walked to the bedroom door. "What if..." She whispered, put a hand on the knob and turned it. To her surprise, the door was not locked.

She stood there blankly, wondering if it was because a servant had forgotten to lock the door after giving her the minimum amount of water for the day. She licked her chapped lips nervously, but they were too dry for her tongue to soothe them.

Bai Xueyue walked nervously in the dark corridor. "It's night time now." She muttered to herself, her heart pounding. If it was night time, she could at least sneak into the storage room. If she was lucky, she would find a piece of stale bread in there. Even raw vegetables like carrots could satisfy her hunger.

After she walked for a while, she heard a commotion in the corridor. Bai Xueyue jumped up in fright, her eyes wide open. At the end of the corridor was a room with bright lights.

Bai Xueyue looked at the surrounding environment. She was only a short distance away from the kitchen and storage room.

"I should go back," she whispered, taking a hesitant step back.

Her stomach protested loudly. Bai Xueyue groaned softly, and a sharp pain spread throughout her body.

"Maybe if I run fast they won't be able to see me," she whispered to herself.

Bai Xueyue had ventured here. It was too late for her to return to her room. If she gave up here, all her efforts would be in vain.

She gathered her courage and continued on.

"Just a little more..." She swallowed hard, picked up her tattered Hanfu, and prepared to rush across the room as fast as she could.

"Hey - what's that -" a voice said as footsteps were heard outside the door.

The door was knocked open in an instant. Bai Xueyue turned around and saw the person walking out. Her eyes widened in horror. That person was none other than Viscount Bai Sheng.

She jumped in shock. He had seen her. Before he or anyone else in the room could say anything, she kept running. The only problem was, she didn't look where she was running.

Bai Xueyue encountered something. She fell backwards in fear and landed on her butt.

"My goodness, oh my goodness, what do we have here?" a voice commented in front of her.

Bai Xueyue raised her head in confusion and looked at the stranger in front of her with wide eyes. She had never seen this person before. Despite this, she still felt uneasy in her heart. This person had bad intentions.
