Yu Zhen walked towards Li Xueyue's room, but stopped halfway. Maybe it was time to think more about her reputation. He changed direction and decided to walk towards the living room and told the servant to call her.

Yu Zhen just turned the corner and stopped again.

Li Chenyang put on a mocking attitude, seemingly not too happy about the commander's appearance. As usual, he was followed by a small group of servants, ready to obey his every wish and request.

Yu Zhen nodded in greeting.

Li Chenyang narrowed his eyes. "What do you want?"

Yu Zhen raised his eyebrows. Who is this kid talking to? Obviously, he is here to see Xueyue. Otherwise, why would he come to the house?

"If you're going to pursue her, you should make it public knowledge. Don't snoop around like a rat, afraid of getting caught."

Seeing Yu Zhen continue to stand there silently, Li Chenyang frowned. "Aren't you going to say something?"

"I will ask her what she wants, and then I will take action," Yu Zhen said finally.

Li Chenyang's eyebrows raised unexpectedly. "Would you... do something like that for her?"

"Don't sound so surprised."

"How could I not? I had a terrible experience with another commander - never mind." Li Chenyang shrugged. "Where are you going to meet her?"

"In the living room." Yu Zhen said softly, watching Li Chenyang's puzzled expression turn into satisfaction. The minister was satisfied with his answer.

"Okay, I'll notify her for you. She just finished breakfast."

"Well, this is easy." Yu Zhen thought to himself. He didn't expect that the communication between them would be so pleasant.

"Thank you." Yu Zhen answered briefly, forcing a smile out of politeness.

Li Chenyang was already accustomed to this kind of political smile. He was amused by the result. Obviously, neither of them wanted to stay in front of the other for too long.

"Do you know the way there?"

"Yes."

“How do you know this?” Li Chenyang asked, carefully hiding the doubt in his voice. Last time he checked, Yu Zhen had never been allowed to visit the house.

"Living rooms are usually near the entrance, aren't they?"

"Yeah, yes." Li Chenyang crossed his arms. "Do you think that if you just open a door, it will lead to the living room? There are so many rooms in our house, do you plan to let her find you in every room?"

"I had intended to have a servant bring her to me."

"You act like this is your home." Li Chenyang pursed his lips, a little annoyed at Zhen's nonchalant attitude. What on earth made this man so excited? Why was he always so calm?

Li Chenyang believes that this is also part of Yu Zhen's growth as the second prince. The politics of Hanjiang must be similar to Wuyi.

Yu Zhen chose not to comment. He stood there like an unyielding tree, tall and intimidating.

Li Chenyang frowned. "I swear you're more talkative than this. Especially around Xueyue."

Yu Zhen gave him a sharp look. "Are you Xueyue?"

Li Chenyang's mouth twitched, and he decided to change the subject. "When will you finally return home?"

"soon."

"how long?"

"Very soon." Yu Zhen repeated.

Li Chenyang narrowed his eyes. "Give a specific duration. Is it a week or a month? Why are you so vague?"

"why not?"

"Listen, if you want to seek Xueyue's opinion, then you have to let the Li family know about your departure. Why bother trying to please her just to get you to leave early?"

"This country is too concerned about women's reputation." Yu Zhen frowned. "Why does everyone care about other people's business?"

"I didn't make the rules here." Li Chenyang sneered. "So, how long will it take?"

"As long as I can do it."

"That is to say, you are controlled by an external force, and they can demand you return home at any time. Who is that external force? Emperor Han Jian?"

"No one can command me as they please." Yu Zhen seemed to be thinking about something, with a bright smile that did not reach his eyes.

"How dare you disobey your father, the emperor? Aren't you afraid of losing your chance to become the crown prince?"

"why do you ask?"

"If Xueyue is going to get married, she should marry someone who is not afraid to go against norms and expectations," said Li Chenyang.

He needs someone who can stand up for her when she's too polite. He doesn't need her to marry a mama's boy who won't be able to protect her if the family decides to bully her.

"She'll be safe with me here, don't worry."

Li Chenyang stared at Yu Zhen, who had no expression on his face and no life in his eyes. For a moment, Chenyang thought he saw something flash in the commander's dim eyes. What could it be? There was absolutely no malice.

Finally, Li Chenyang was too lazy to continue this topic. He needed to go to the palace now.

Li Chenyang instructed a servant beside him, "Take Commander Yu Zhen to the main hall, and then notify Xue Yue to go as well."

The servant bowed his head. "I understand, Second Young Master."

Li Chenyang turned around and looked at the quiet Yu Zhen and rolled his eyes. "You make me bored." As he said that, he walked past Yu Zhen.

"That's right." Yu Zhen sneered. Before Li Chenyang could finish speaking, the commander was already walking along the corridor led by his servants.

"Annoying rat." Li Chenyang muttered softly, turned around and saw Yu Zhen disappearing around the corner.

Li Xueyue pushed open the door to the main living room and blinked when she saw it was empty. She turned to the servant who had led her here. "Are you sure this is the right room?"

The servant looked up, a similarly confused look on her face. She glanced around the room. "Y-yes, that's where I directed him. Excuse me, ma'am, but perhaps he went to relieve himself?"

Li Xueyue thought this could explain his absence. "Maybe. Please forgive me."

The servant bowed, left, and closed the door.

Li Xueyue frowned and walked towards the center of the room, wondering where Yu Zhen had gone. Did he leave? Did it take so long to get here?

As she was thinking, Li Xueyue was completely unaware that a figure was approaching her until she felt a pair of large hands reaching out from behind.

Li Xueyue did not give the attacker enough time to cover his eyes. She quickly hit him with her elbow until a soft "oh" sound was heard.

Li Xueyue turned around, her Hanfu spinning with her, and one hand reached for the pointed hairpin in her hair. She was ready to stab anyone who tried to grab her.

"Oh," was the only sound she made when she saw him.

Yu Zhen bent over slightly, holding the spot where his elbow had pressed. "Remind me..." he panted, "So as to never surprise you," he pretended to groan and fell to the floor.

Li Xueyue stood there, examining her nails. "Are you dead?" she asked, nudging his body with her foot. "Good," she mused, straddling his body.

Yu Zhen frowned in his position. He expected her to bend over, cradling his head, asking worriedly if he was okay. He sat up and wrapped his arms around her calves. With a jerk of her hand, she fell backward, arms flailing to keep her balance, but he was stronger.

"That's mean!" she screamed, her heart racing as she threw herself directly into his arms, both of them sitting on the floor. His legs were on either side of her, pressing down on her slender legs.

Yu Zhen put his arms around her front until her back was completely pressed against his chest.

“It was so rich that this girl ignored my pitiful situation on the ground.”

“That’s because your acting is too dramatic, too fake.” Li Xueyue snorted as his arms tightened around her, trying to hold back her heartbeat. She jumped when his hair brushed her neck.

Yu Zhen rested his chin on her shoulder, leaned his head against her side, and smiled slightly. He chose to ignore her words. Breathing in her fragrance, his smile became even brighter.

"Did I scare you?"

"Your face scares me even more."

Yu Zhen chuckled at her words and buried his face in the crook of her neck. She could feel the rumble of his chest and the ripple of his biceps as he gently squeezed her body. Her stomach churned uncomfortably and she swallowed, forcing herself to stay still.

Li Xueyue wanted to cherish this moment, cherish this moment. She was afraid that any small movement of hers would cause the dream to shatter to the ground.
