Rebirth: Ordinary Life and Living

Chapter 4: First Enlightenment

"Mother, please let me marry her. I just want her to stay with me. I can't live without her."

Jin Lang knelt down and begged. Just as he finished speaking, Fourth Aunt slapped him in the face. The loud "pop" sound made Zhou Xinyue unable to hold back and speak.

In a very weak and hoarse voice, he said, "Have you finished acting? Who is this director? What play are you acting in? Why didn't the director call "cut"? Even if it was acting, it was too realistic. Also, you really beat him up. You beat him until he was covered in blood. You were too cruel."

Zhou Xinyue touched her head, with blood still on her hands and a splitting headache. She finally finished her words impatiently, but attracted surprised looks from everyone in the room.

Zhou Xinyue looked at the handsome, well-proportioned, slightly thin boy in front of her, and the tired and angry woman, and continued, "I have a headache now. Can you stop sending me to the hospital?"

Zhou Xinyue had a splitting headache and suddenly her eyes went dark and she passed out.

When Zhou Xinyue woke up, there was no one around her. The room was simple, without much decoration, but it had all the furniture a room should have.

There were some bottles and jars on the table not far away, which looked like medicine bottles. Zhou Xinyue had a white cloth wrapped around her head and her wounds were well treated.

At this moment, the door was suddenly pushed open and a young girl came in. Zhou Xinyue took a quick look and found that it was the little girl from that day.

The girl was holding a bowl of porridge in her hand. She gently placed the porridge on the table and came to check on Zhou Xinyue's injuries as usual and also wanted to see if Zhou Xinyue had woken up. Unexpectedly, she met Zhou Xinyue's eyes and was overjoyed. She shouted excitedly: "Goudan, you're awake!"

The girl was about to rush out the door when Zhou Xinyue, who was lying on the bed, called her: "Wait, come here."

The girl stopped walking with a look of surprise on her face, turned around, and hurried back to Zhou Xinyue's bedside, saying gently: "Goudan, you woke up, that's great, it's really great, I thought you wouldn't wake up, I was really worried about you."

Zhou Xinyue motioned for her to help her up, and the girl quickly placed a soft blanket behind Zhou Xinyue to cushion her so that Zhou Xinyue could sit more comfortably.

The girl's face was full of surprise and relief. She held Zhou Xinyue's hands and said, "How are you? Are you feeling better? Does your head still hurt? Do you want some water? And I brought you a bowl of light porridge. Do you want some?"

Zhou Xinyue nodded gently and said in a hoarse voice: "Give me a cup of hot water first."

The girl hurriedly poured a cup of hot water from the table, and Zhou Xinyue drank it quickly. The girl then said gently, "Eat some more porridge. You've been unconscious for three or four days. If you don't eat something, I'm afraid your small body won't be able to make it."

Zhou Xinyue thought for a while. She had no appetite at first, but what the girl said made sense. She felt that after all, health was the capital of revolution, and it would not work without eating something. So she nodded and reluctantly ate half a bowl of hot porridge. Instantly, warmth spread throughout her body and her stomach felt very comfortable.

The girl wiped Zhou Xinyue's mouth with a handkerchief and said gently, "Do you want to eat something else? I'll go to the kitchen and get you something else."

Zhou Xinyue shook her head and said, "No, I'm full and can't eat anymore."

The girl smiled and nodded and said, "Okay, then you have a good rest. I'll get some water for you to wash your face."

Zhou Xinyue smiled and grabbed the girl who was about to leave, and said hurriedly: "No, just sit next to me and talk to me."

The girl smiled and nodded, then sat next to Zhou Xinyue.

At this moment, Zhou Xinyue was full of questions and needed someone to answer them.

Zhou Xinyue couldn't help but asked hurriedly: "Where is this? Why didn't you send me to the hospital? Where are my parents?"

The girl looked puzzled and said, "Goudan, what's wrong with you? Why haven't you recovered yet? You're still talking nonsense. What... First Hospital, Second Hospital, what are you talking about? Is it possible that your brain is injured and you haven't recovered yet? Goudan, wait a minute, I'll find a doctor to check you out, wait a minute."

Zhou Xinyue grabbed the girl who was about to get up and leave. She suddenly felt dizzy, which startled the girl. She sat down quickly and said, "Goudan, what's wrong with you?"

Zhou Xinyue hurriedly said in a hoarse voice: "Don't go, I still have a lot to ask you."

The girl frowned and said worriedly, "Okay, okay, okay, I won't leave. You tell me what you want to say. Don't move again. I'm afraid something bad will happen to you. I..."

Zhou Xinyue looked at the girl who cared about her and felt warm in her heart. She said, "I'm fine, don't worry. It's just that I... have a lot of things I want to ask you in detail."

The girl nodded seriously and said, "Okay, go ahead, I'll listen."

Zhou Xinyue looked around and asked in confusion: "Don't you know what a hospital is?"

The girl shook her head. Zhou Xinyue hurriedly asked, "What about my parents? Do you know them?"

The girl shook her head again. Zhou Xinyue asked again: "Where is this?"

The girl replied, "It's in the East Garden of this mansion."

Zhou Xinyue asked in confusion: "Fu? What fu? Also, I see you don't look like modern people in your attire, aren't you actors in a movie?"

The girl asked again in confusion: "What is an actor? I don't understand?"

Zhou Xinyue asked cautiously: "What country is this? What dynasty is it now? What era is it?"

The girl replied: "This is the Kingdom of Longding, which has been in existence for thirty-six years."

Zhou Xinyue widened her eyes and stared at the innocent girl in front of her in disbelief.

The girl felt like laughing when she saw Zhou Xinyue's silly look, and continued, "Goudan, you look so funny."

Zhou Xinyue was full of questions at this time, and she was desperately searching and thinking with her limited knowledge. She had never heard of the Kingdom of Ding, let alone the 36th Year of Yongcheng. What dynasty was this? What country was this?

The girl looked at Zhou Xinyue, who was motionless and in a daze. She smiled and waved her hand in front of Zhou Xinyue, saying, "Goudan, what's wrong with you? Why are you so stupid? Why don't you speak?"

Zhou Xinyue now had some idea that she had traveled through time, to an unknown country, an unknown dynasty. In short, she had traveled through time.

Zhou Xinyue felt speechless for a moment, and immediately understood that the owner of this body must have died on the spot that day, and she came here inexplicably and entered this body.

Zhou Xinyue swallowed and said slowly: "Then, who am I?"

The girl replied: "You are Goudan, my good sister, my good friend Goudan."

Zhou Xinyue said speechlessly: "My name is Goudan? You mean my name is Goudan? What about you? What's your name?"

"My name is Erdan."

Zhou Xinyue closed her eyes and let out a long breath, saying speechlessly: "You mean my name is Goudan and your name is Erdan? How come our names are related to Dan?"

The girl looked puzzled and said, "Goudan, what's wrong with you? Don't you remember what happened before? And our little brother Sandan, do you remember him?"

"Three eggs? Eggs again?"

"Goudan, how could your injury be so serious? How could you have forgotten about us?"
