Chapter 27: Lifting Weights
The next morning.
Old Pete woke up after a good night's sleep.
Just as he was about to get dressed and get up, he heard hurried footsteps in the corridor outside the room.
Then, the door of the next room was slammed.
"Schudeman, get up. The floating city management will call all captain-level and above people to assemble."
A familiar female voice sounded, and Old Pete knew it was the captain of the team living upstairs - Bohemia.
Then, with a creaking sound, the door next door opened.
After a brief chat, the footsteps of Shudeman and Bohemia disappeared at the end of the corridor.
Seeing that there was no wall to hear, the sleepy old Pete put on his gray casual clothes and habitually wanted to call Steve to get up.
"Steve, wake up!"
No response;
"Get up and train!"
no respond.
When I turned my head to look, I saw a neatly folded sleeping bag on Steve's bed, but he was no longer in the room.
"It's strange, where did this kid go so early in the morning?"
Muttering to himself, Old Pete rolled up his sleeping bag and walked out of the room.
After a while, when he walked out of the house, he saw Steve lifting weights in the yard.
"Steve, what are you doing?!"
Hearing this, Steve, who was standing in a pool of sweat, slowly put down the dwarf Thorin's axe in his hand.
"Build muscle!"
"I know you're training your muscles!" Old Pete stepped forward quickly and said with a bad look on his face:
“I’m asking you why you want to build muscle?!
Wanderers don't need those dead muscles, what they need is flexibility!"
At this point, Old Pete's eyes fell on Thorin's huge axe, and his face instantly darkened.
"Okay! I knew you were up to no good!
Tell me the truth, do you want to be a barbarian part-time? "
Hearing this, Steve shook his head innocently:
"In no mood"
"Then why do you want to train your muscles? Can't you swing a dagger now?!"
"Uncle, you must be mistaken. I have always used a spear."
"..."
Looking at Steve who took it for granted, Old Pete held his breath for a moment.
Actually, this can't be blamed on him. Wanderer is the profession that least advocates big muscles, no doubt about it.
He has already treated Steve as his apprentice. Any Wanderer teacher would curse when he sees his apprentice lifting weights to build strength!
After being sulky for a while, Old Pete finally gave the order in a muffled voice:
“Still…still can’t practice too much!
Big muscles are powerful, but too many muscle groups will greatly affect your explosive power.
Without your explosive power far beyond that of ordinary people, you will be useless!
Even if you do this to adapt to the Zerg battlefield, you can't overdraw your future potential too much."
Having said that, Old Pete walked out of the front yard with a dark face.
Seeing that Old Pete was obviously sulking, Steve scratched his sweat-soaked hair and smiled helplessly.
In fact, Steve himself knew it, but building muscle was a helpless move;
His previous spear was made entirely of steel, which was too heavy for him. He could still maintain accuracy in close-range stabbing, but once he expanded the attack range, he seemed to be a little powerless;
This is only a three-meter gun. If it were to be changed to a five-meter wolf-whip, he wouldn't be able to operate it at all.
But what he faced was a Void Zerg that was much bigger than a horse;
When he was at the outpost, Captain Shudeman had taught him the White Crow Sword Technique, which was specially used to deal with oversized creatures;
But the White Crow Swordsmanship is paired with a greatsword, which is a two-handed greatsword that is generally about six feet (about 2 meters) in size;
Swinging this kind of sword consumes a lot of energy. With Steve's pitiful 11 points of strength, the damage caused by the sword is shockingly low.
But it is different with a spear. As long as the material is good enough, you can point the spear head at the enemy and put the tail on the ground, then you can use the enemy's force to kill with one blow.
In fact, Steve's favorite is the horse lance. This thing is powerful and heavy, can be used for cutting and stabbing, and most importantly, it looks cool!
With his mind full of trivial matters, Steve took the time to continue lifting weights.
Soon, it was noon, and just when he was about to take a break, Schudeman and Old Pete walked into the front yard together.
The captain frowned, with dark clouds gathering between his brows, and ordered to Old Pete beside him:
"Pete, call them to the hall."
"Okay!" Old Pete nodded expressionlessly and handed the bulging package in his hand to Steve.
“Here are ingots of iron and meteorite steel, take them and let Thorin repair your spear;
There is also a cloak, some civilian clothes, a set of rogue's heavy cloth armor, and a 3-foot storage bag, all for you."
After saying that, Old Pete walked quickly into the house.
After a while, all members of Shudeman's team gathered in the hall.
Looking at the people standing opposite him, Shudeman once again felt the heavy responsibility on his shoulders and said in a deep voice:
“The situation has deteriorated drastically!
Except for us, all 50 sentry towers in the security zone fell and no one survived.
On the front line, the Void Zerg withstood the attacks from the other two directions and gained a firm foothold. Fifteen Void Leviathans landed. "
At this point, Shudeman's eyebrows were tightly knitted together.
"From now on, the sun above our heads, that is, the floating city - Sky City, will continue to shine throughout the day!
Our team was assigned to a patrol rotation team, patrolling for two days and resting for one day.
Until the full-scale counterattack begins!"
After saying that, Shudeman gave Thorin careful instructions.
"Thorin, help fix Steve's spear."
"Okay! Leave it to me!" Thorin waved his huge fist excitedly.
The meeting was over, and Steve took his big gun and materials and followed Thorin back to his room.
The moment I walked in, a wave of heat and the smell of rust instantly hit me.
When Steve walked in, he realized that Thorin's room was different.
There was no bed, no furniture within the range of a table;
On the left hand side after entering the door, there is a furnace emitting scorching heat right next to the corner. Next to the furnace are a large amount of coal blocks piled up, and on the pile of coal blocks, there is a shovel.
On the other side of the furnace, a hammer of terrifying size lay quietly on the anvil.
Thorin snatched the spear and materials from Steve's hand, walked quickly to the anvil, and rubbed his hands excitedly.
"Muradin's forehead! I've been wanting to find something to hit it with!"
In the past, their team and the Bohemian team guarding the same outpost upstairs rarely ran into each other, so there was no problem of disturbing each other;
Now that everyone is stationed, it would be unacceptable for him to swing the hammer recklessly;
But if the captain speaks, the hammer can still be swung.
