Shancai Rebirth: My Choice

Chapter 78 One More Daughter

Shanlai hugged him a little tighter. She didn't say anything, just held him quietly.

"Okay, I'll call the doctor to check you out." Lei patted her back gently, trying to keep his voice calm.

He was just surprised by Shanlai's behavior and hasn't recovered yet.

Shanlai silently let go of his hand.

Lei walked out of the ward quickly and called the doctor.

After the doctor examined Shanlai, he just said that he needed to rest well and there was nothing serious else.

Only then did I feel relieved.

After sending the doctor away, Lei sat next to her and said, "I just called Meizuo and the others. They will send breakfast over later." He reached out and scratched her little nose.

Shan Lai was a little stunned. She remembered the dream she had yesterday. She tried hard to think of the blurry face, but the more she thought about it, the blurrier it became.

I just don't think about it anymore.

Seeing that she was wandering in consciousness, Lei just looked at her and said, "Are you still sleepy? If so, lie down for a while." As he said that, he placed a pillow behind her so that she could lean on it more comfortably, and then tucked the corner of the quilt for her.

He didn't ask what she was thinking just now.

"Type." Shan Lai hesitated for a while, and finally spoke.

"Last night, in my dream, there was a person's face that I couldn't see clearly." Shanlai stared at Lei, as if he wanted to see through him.

Hanazawa Rui smiled calmly, but she couldn't keep the truth hidden after all, so she told him.

"If you can't see clearly, then you can't see clearly. It's not a big deal. The people around you are here. Don't think too much." As he said that, he took her hand and looked at her.

After listening to what Lei said, Shanlai hesitated again.

Not a big deal?

But that person felt so familiar, as if I had known him for a long time.

What if they really knew each other?

"Maybe you were allergic to mangoes last night and started to have hallucinations." Lei observed her expression as he spoke.

The curve of his mouth continued to grow.

Shanlai finally compromised and nodded, thinking that if he couldn't remember it, then he didn't remember it.

Everyone around her is fine, and she is fine too, and that's enough.

She was about to say something when someone knocked on the door.

Immediately afterwards, Cheng Nan came in carrying a thermos bucket, and looked at the person on the hospital bed with eyes full of heartache.

"Aunt Cheng." Shan Lai smiled at the person who came and wanted to sit up and greet her.

Cheng Nanyi walked quickly to her side and said, "My dear child, you just went through such a dangerous situation last night. Lie down quickly. You need to rest well."

When Lei saw that it was his mother who came, he was a little surprised at first, but then he smiled warmly.

He likes Shanlai very much, so he also wants his family to like and accept her; it seems that his mother really likes her very much.

Chengnan just came to Shanlai's bedside.

Lei was originally sitting on a stool. Chengnan glared at him from where Shanlai couldn't see. He understood and silently gave the seat to his mother.

As soon as Chengnan sat down, he gave him a forced smile, which was quite sensible.

"Shanlai, are you okay?" Cheng Nan looked at her worriedly and reached out to help her tidy up her messy hair as she had just gotten up.

Shan Lai shook his head and smiled again, "I'm fine now, Aunt Cheng, don't worry."

"So you are allergic to mangoes. Auntie just found out about this too."

"You can't touch mangoes from now on, be good." Cheng Nan said and glared at Hua Ze Lei next to him. What was he doing before?

Why wouldn't he ask before this?

Feeling the caring gaze from his mother, Lei still smiled good-temperedly and opened the thermos bucket his mother brought over.

It contains purple rice porridge.

"Nan Yi, why are you walking so fast? The ward is right here and you can't run away." Hua Zeheng helplessly carried fruits and a bag and rushed over when Nan Yi had already sat down for a while.

He just stopped the car and she disappeared.

Sighing helplessly, he could only silently take the things she bought for his future daughter-in-law.

Looking at the girl on the hospital bed, Hua Ze Heng was surprised at first, then he looked at his wife sitting next to the girl, and then at his son holding a thermos bucket next to him, and could only walk over silently.

Seeing his father coming, Hanazawa Rui was really surprised.

My father is rarely at home. The last time I saw him, he called home on his own initiative.

"Shanlai, let me introduce you. This is my husband and Lei's father." Chengnan held Shanlai's hand affectionately, and Shanlai didn't react yet.

Realizing his actions, Chengnan smiled more gently.

"Hello, uncle." Shan Lai nodded slightly as a greeting.

"It's okay, just lie down and rest well. Your aunt Cheng found out about you last night and was very worried. She rushed to see you this morning." Hua Zeheng said half complaining and half doting as he put the fruit on the coffee table.

Hand that bag to the class.

He took it, which contained a box with a bowl and a spoon. He poured out the porridge and Hua Ze Heng took the porridge away.

After taking it over, he handed it to his wife carefully and said, "It's still a little hot, be careful."

Chengnan took it, scooped some porridge with a spoon, blew it carefully, and then handed it to Shanlai's mouth.

Shanlai was stunned.

Lei was watching the scene with a smile on his face, stretched out his hand to measure the distance, and then put it down.

It seems that he can add new content to his sketchbook.

"You are a patient now, so let your aunt take care of you. Your parents are far away in Country M and are not with you. It is not easy for a girl like you."

Cheng Nan carefully observed the little girl's facial expression. When she mentioned her parents who were far away in Country M, she obviously missed them very much.

She continued, "I am probably about the same age as your mother. If you don't mind, you can treat me as your mother."

"Anyway, our family doesn't mind having another daughter." As he said this, Chengnan glanced at Lei next to him intentionally or unintentionally.

Hua Ze Heng was sitting on the sofa next to her, flipping through a few magazines there. When he heard her say that, he paused.

It soon returned to normal.

He had always wanted a daughter, but never had one. It just so happened that his wife liked this little girl, and if they became mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in the future, they should get along well.

Lei heard his mother's words and looked at Shanlai.

She seemed very nervous. She didn't know whether to drink the porridge or not when it was fed to her.

Listening to Cheng Nanyi's words, Shan Lai just thought that she liked girls, so he opened his mouth obediently and drank a mouthful of the porridge she fed him.

"That's good. Come on, have another bite." Cheng Nan fed her mouthful by mouthful as if he was coaxing a child.

Soon, half a bowl of porridge was gone.
