Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy
Chapter 96: The Crowded Ward
It was raining heavily. The slightly fishy air mixed with water vapor penetrated into people's noses. On an ordinary night, the boy walked into Jia's house. He had already prepared to be scolded for coming home late because of playing. He walked into the house on tiptoe, but the expected scolding did not come.
Deep red bloodstains spread across the stone floor, seeped down the stairs, and dyed the surface of the garden filled with blue water lilies red.
The boy lifted the gauze curtain with one hand and trembled uncontrollably.
Lancelot woke up from his dream.
He opened his eyes and saw two pairs of eyes looking at him. The cold sweat from the nightmare was now sticky on his back, and he didn't know where he was for a moment.
But these two pairs of eyes quickly calmed him down.
"Oh, he's awake." Harry felt the movement beside him and poked Draco with the thick book in his hand.
"I see you're sleeping soundly. It's already afternoon." Draco said as he reached out and grabbed his coat that had slipped off Lancelot.
"Where is this?" Lancelot was sure he smelled food.
"Of course we are still at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Insects. But this is the sixth floor, which is the visitor tea room and shop. When Draco and I came back, we found you sleeping on the chair outside the ward, so we picked you up and brought you here." Harry put the cushion piled behind Lancelot back in place and explained to him.
"I'm just too sleepy. Even though I often stay up late, I'm still not used to this kind of schedule."
"There wasn't much noise in Brick Lane. When I returned, I quietly treated all the injured people nearby." Draco closed the thick book and recalled the scene in the early morning. "I also cleaned up the bloodstains and the messy garbage on the ground. Maybe that place will be clean for a few days. Don't worry, no Muggle police will show up."
"The goblin artifacts have also been returned to the Ministry of Magic." Harry continued, taking over Draco's words. "The test report hasn't been completed yet, but based on your performance, the risk rating may be even higher than last time. Of course, the aggressiveness you showed may also be related to your good physical fitness. These can all be used as evidence of the goblins' evil deeds."
"Better physical fitness - I suspect you've been secretly building muscles in the tomb." Draco looked at the muscles in Lancelot's arms and sighed a little.
"You two looking at me like two kind old fathers." A smile appeared on Lancelot's lips.
"Hmph - Harry and I made you feel the warmth of home." Draco leaned back in his chair and crossed his legs. "Let's be realistic. How can two old fathers like us have a baby with chocolate skin?"
"My skin color comes from the abundant sunshine in Egypt." Lancelot stood up and stretched his muscles. "Why are you all reading such big books? What are you reading?"
"The secret art of Muggle political intrigue," Draco replied lazily.
"Muggle elites and upper-class social methods." Harry blinked.
"Why can your eyes be two different colors? Is it magic or genetics?" Draco was obviously still looking at Lancelot from the perspective of an old father.
"What's wrong? You want it too?" Lancelot grinned.
"Your gold and navy look pretty cool," Draco admitted. "An emerald green and a grey look pretty cool, too? - I was just thinking. So is it genetic?"
"I've only seen eyes like that on kittens." Harry tossed the book into his backpack.
Kitten...Lancelot looked up at the time.
"Hey, I'm going to go check on him—it's already afternoon."
"The photographer? Let's go. Let's cover up." Harry took out two hats and sunglasses, and covered his face with Draco. "We also visited Neville's family on the way, but we didn't want to be recognized by others - since we have been in the newspapers recently."
The ward is just around the corner of the stairs.
Just as Harry and Draco were looking around warily, afraid of being recognized by other passers-by, they found that the first floor was obviously noisier than usual.
The source of the noise is Ward No. 9.
There was the sound of high heels, and a woman wearing a crocodile leather handbag and jeweled glasses strode into the ward.
"Ah..." Harry quickly shrank behind Lancelot, and Draco beside him also dodged back.
"what happened?"
"Rita Skeeter," Harry said in a disgusted tone. "Why is she here? I'll bet on all the crappy books and journalism she's written that I'm not wrong."
Harry will never forget how Rita described him as a little crybaby in her report.
"Does she know you're here?" Lancelot asked in confusion. "She's keeping watch?"
"Probably not." Draco pulled his sunglasses down a little and observed the situation in the ward - there were many people standing in it now, and what was even more surprising was that no therapist came forward to kick these noisy people out of the ward.
There were even two therapists watching and chattering excitedly on the side.
Another person came into Ward 9, a girl who looked like a young assistant and was wearing a gown and holding a pile of documents.
Then there was a man in a flashy sequined blue suit with gold dust in his hair.
Another man with a sturdy figure, a hooked nose, holding a gift in his hand came over. He saw many people in front of the ward who seemed to be hesitating whether to go in. ——"Krum!" Harry exclaimed in a low voice.
"Viktor Krum? Shouldn't he be training before the game?" Draco obviously also recognized the Quidditch star.
"Maybe there's a hospital charity performance today?" Harry guessed, stroking his chin.
"But they won't be rehearsing in the wards." Draco doubted it very much.
"Since Rita Skeeter and so many other people are here, it's not convenient for us to go in now." Harry patted Lancelot on the back, "You go visit him first, and we'll show up when there are fewer people around."
"Okay." Lancelot walked towards the ward.
"Krum!" Draco was still in shock. "Who else could be in there?"
"Are you going to get an autograph? Actually, I'm quite familiar with him--" Harry asked, turning around.
"No."
"He performed brilliantly in the last Quidditch World Cup," Harry reminded. "He won't be any worse this time, either."
"I actually didn't watch the games too seriously during the last World Cup," Draco admitted.
"So what are you doing in the top box?"
"I was looking at you -" Draco pushed his sunglasses down again, "looking at the worthless look of someone in the front row after seeing the Bulgarian Veela mascot - one leg was put on the wall of the box."
"This is a normal reaction." Harry muttered softly with a red face. He didn't expect that his embarrassment was seen clearly by Draco who was sitting two rows behind him.
"Then next time you react to me less than this normal reaction, you're done." Draco threatened Harry's ear. "Admit it, you just like beautiful people. But I didn't expect it took you so long to find me good-looking."
