Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy

Chapter 51 Night Hunt (Part )

The last night before leaving the island. The last six hours.

Draco was still staying in the camping tent that Harry had set up before he left. Outside, there was only the slight sound of the wind blowing, and some intermittent and indistinguishable noises. In a trance, he seemed to hear the roar of a plane landing on the island's helipad.

About to leave.

At this moment, the tabletop of the camping table was covered with auction brochures and the latest collection of news. In addition to the Muggle newspapers and materials brought when they set out, there were also the latest news from the wizarding world delivered by owls from afar.

Draco found that Harry had indeed arranged everything just the way he liked it. The pleasant evening breeze, the quiet night and the warm light in the tent allowed him to sort out his already somewhat confused thoughts and force himself to prepare for what was to come.

Draco sniffed and calmed himself. After casting the Disillusionment Charm on himself during the day, he had already walked around the island and found no trace of Harry. He had told himself not to dwell on it, but every few minutes he would think of the scars on Harry's back that had not completely disappeared, and the half-empty bed when he woke up that morning. There was no trace on the island. Maybe Harry had Apparated to somewhere else? Such a loud noise should have woken him up.

Harry must have left in a hurry, he even took the wrong wand, and Draco only realized before he needed to cast the Disillusionment Charm that the wand left behind was Harry's holly wood phoenix feather wand, while his own wand was missing.

Draco tried waving Harry's wand, and after a few seconds, the wand trembled slightly, sending warm feedback to his fingertips, as if greeting a new user who was not the owner.

It didn't seem to be rejected by his wand. Draco used the flashback spell to check the last spell Harry cast, which was "Flowers in Bloom". The flowers at the foot of the table were confirming where it came from.

Maybe there was no serious fight before leaving.

While quickly reading and memorizing the information, Draco's eyes occasionally wandered from the stacked pages to the transparent door of the tent, as if he was expecting a miracle to happen, expecting the savior to appear at the door covered in water or mud, and then shouting that he had fallen into the lake or into a hunter's deer trap.

Just as the note said, “Come back early in the morning”, in a few hours it would be the last morning off the island.

Of course, such a scene only appears in imagination.

It's okay. Draco comforted himself. Saint Potter had been able to brave the trapdoor in his first year, the Chamber of Secrets in his second year, and the Ministry of Magic, the Department of Mysteries, and the escape. Now that he was an adult and had obtained the Auror certificate, leaving without saying goodbye might be... commonplace.

No goodbyes means no need to worry, and no need to worry means both of us are safe.

Draco quickly scanned the headline of the Muggle newspaper, "The press conference was a great success - two giant families joined forces." This was a manuscript that recorded the new product press conference in detail. "After publicly expressing dissatisfaction with the current Prime Minister, the new products of the White family, which are widely loved by young people, were unveiled to the public yesterday evening. In addition to being closely aligned with people's daily needs in terms of practicality, the harmonious value concept expressed by the brand is also refreshing... People's high expectations for it have driven the stock price to continue to rise."

To be honest, Draco wasn't really concerned about the ups and downs in the Muggle business world at the moment.

He could have returned the camping equipment early and spent his last night comfortably in the hotel, but he was still here, holding his chin most of the time as if in a daze, forcing himself to focus on the news in front of him, and then letting his brain quickly think of a plan to break into the family of a business tycoon.

But it seemed that some other intruder interrupted his thoughts in advance.

"Brother." A familiar figure appeared at the door of the tent.

Alex.

As if to show the seriousness of the visit, Alex seemed to think for a moment and then changed his words: "Mr. Malfoy." He was still in pajamas, but he had changed into the sneakers he had been wearing during the day. In addition to the flashlight in his hand, he also carried a small shotgun.

The little shoes were covered in mud and water, it seemed that she had walked a long way to find Draco's tent in the woods.

Draco gathered the documents on the table and walked forward. "Why are you here? Why aren't you with mom and dad?"

"I sneaked out while they were sleeping." Alex answered as a matter of course. "Because-I think you were lying when you told them during the day that Mr. Potter had booked a boat and left first."

"..." Draco neither refuted nor admitted.

"He didn't leave, right? You clearly look dazed and absent-minded." Alex looked at Draco's face carefully, as if further confirming his inference.

"Don't worry too much." Draco replied helplessly. "All we can do now is wait."

"What do you mean?" Alex raised an eyebrow.

"Maybe he has his own ideas."

"But he looked bruised and battered since he took time off from squash training. I saw the scars under his sportswear." Alex persisted, "Why would a coach get injured like this?"

Draco opened his mouth slightly, but no words came out.

"I thought you knew." Alex threw the shotgun into Draco's hand and put his hands on his hips. "So you don't know either? You must love him very much."

Draco felt a little angry at being exposed, but was choked by the last words of this child who was not even as tall as his shoulders. "It is a child's privilege to talk nonsense. I forgive your childish words." Draco turned his head and answered calmly.

"The way you look at him is different." Alex resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "I'm not a three-year-old kid anymore. The way Hamlet looks at his lover, as taught by the drama teacher, is exactly the same as the way you look at him."

"No... not yet." Draco's heart moved when he heard the word lover. Maybe those few words Harry said on the hospital bed were not a promise.

What was their current relationship? Former enemies? Schoolmates? Temporary partners? Kissed? He had tried countless times to find some certainty from other sources, but he would be easily shaken by a few words from others.

A familiar feeling of loss and gain came over him. The Dark Mark on his arm was clearly visible at the edge of his rolled-up shirt sleeves. The traces left by this magic could not be removed by any means. Although as a descendant of the pure-blooded Malfoy family, Draco spent most of his time disliking some people and being disliking others. But he cared so much about Harry's thoughts. If only Harry's thoughts could be as clear as the Dark Mark, he would be willing to extend his entire arm for him to draw a new mark.

"Maybe we can look for it again." Alex rolled up his trouser legs. "Before I met you, I was always afraid of the future. I thought I would be like those boring adults when I grew up."

"What happens after we meet?" Draco put the shotgun on his shoulder, picked up the portable light, took Alex's hand and walked out of the tent.

"Although you are not very good at lying on some issues, I think it would be nice to become an adult like you guys." Alex looked expectantly at the woods shrouded in darkness. "I heard that many animals like to forage for food at night."

"Potter also likes to run around at night - or he runs around at any time." Draco sighed softly. For no reason, he thought of how he had laughed at some Slytherin couples who nibbled at each other in the common room every day and asked some stupid questions, such as whether you love me or not.

When I hear it again, I am already the person in the song. This may be a question as eternal as the moon.
