Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy
Chapter 35 Curse Breaker
The notice of Gringotts' new treasure recovery open trading day was delivered by owl.
The huge parchment lists the dates and times when the goblins will provide treasure recovery services in the new month. The names on the paper are gradually increasing. Curse breakers scattered around the world will choose a day to return to Gringotts to return the treasures and receive the corresponding rewards.
Lancelot had just written his name on the appointment for this afternoon when he noticed that two more signatures had been added behind him.
Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy.
Lancelot's gaze lingered on the two names for a few seconds, and then he remembered the famous savior and another wealthy-looking blond boy whom he had met once in a squash match.
The owl pecked his finger and then flew down the narrow passage toward the exit.
"What a magical creature that it can find me here." At this moment, Lancelot was still deep in an ancient royal tomb. The airtight and narrow passage made him a little breathless. The air was filled with the stench of some dead thing and feces.
The passage to this ancient royal tomb had been opened by predecessors, and Lancelot did not find much treasure today - but it was not a complete loss. The fragments of gold ornaments found under the mummy might be accepted for trading by the goblins.
Unlike many people who choose the job of curse breaker because they love adventure and novel life, Lancelot chose this profession purely because the curse breaker's salary has no upper limit as the amount of treasure increases.
If we only look at it from the perspective of making money, curse breaker is a job suitable for capable wizards. As long as the physical strength and relevant knowledge can support them to keep going (and they don't die inexplicably in an ancient tomb), many curse breaker have achieved financial freedom early on.
"Lancelot" is the English name he gave himself. No one knows his original name. Because his signature is just a simple letter "G", his colleagues at Gringotts affectionately call him "Goat", Goat = Greaest of all time, because every time Gringotts curse breakers count their treasure hunts at the end of the year, Lancelot always ranks first.
Occasionally, Lancelot would joke that he was the "world's best curse-breaker", but more often, he would go headfirst to all possible places where treasures might appear, facing all kinds of dangers, and would not give up even if there was only a slight possibility, because he was still waiting to save enough money to investigate the truth of the family incident ten years ago.
After collecting all the small treasures he had found, Lancelot slowly climbed up the narrow passage of the ancient royal tomb. Every pharaoh's royal tomb would carry huge wealth and rich burial objects, so the ancient Egyptian king would contact wizards and use strict magic to defend against all outsiders with bad intentions. The ancient evil curses and mural riddles killed countless Muggles who robbed tombs on the way to wealth.
But in fact, the invaders included not only Muggles who wanted to rob tombs, but also goblins who wanted to recover the products and wizards who coveted the treasure. Some descendants of the Egyptian kings, considering the deficit in the national treasury, instructed wizards to steal their fathers' burial objects to replenish the treasury and solve the urgent problem.
"Theft and greed are like embedded in our blood." A colleague at Gringotts once mocked the Egyptians like this. Lancelot didn't say much in the office. The former royal family, thieves and wealthy people who loved collecting led to the birth and continuous flow of treasures. If everyone behaved themselves, the job of curse breaker would not exist at all.
Feeling the fresh air flowing ahead, Lancelot quickened his pace.
One cannot feel the passage of time in a closed space. It was already approaching evening. Lancelot calculated the time and decided that he could return to England with the time difference just in time for the goblins to recover the treasure.
The desert was silent and still. The cell phone signal had been restored on the ground and I could hear the vibration of a message in my pocket.
It was Draco Malfoy.
"I saw your appointment in the Gringotts list, but why haven't we found you yet?" the other party asked very directly.
"Let me guess, do you want to contact that professor? I just came out from underground, I'll be there right away." Lancelot answered just as directly.
"Waiting for you." Draco also sent a colorful emoticon package.
Lancelot had a good impression of Draco and Harry. In addition to the news reports he had taken time to read during the treasure hunt, his last face-to-face communication also made him feel that the two were friends worth making.
Lancelot was originally born into an Egyptian noble family, and he felt a kindred spirit in Draco, the kind of character traits that were cultivated by a family that had high hopes for him, a high standard of education, and a family atmosphere that was never short of money.
But the only difference is that his family has suffered misfortune, and the loss of wealth and reputation just overnight. From a life of luxury to a life of poverty, in order to preserve the reputation of his family and gain freedom in the future, Lancelot has been running around saving money. Only when the unjust case he was carrying was resolved, he would have the opportunity to start a new life of his own.

Seeing that Lancelot no longer responded, Draco waited for his arrival in Gringotts.
Because of boredom, Draco opened Lancelot's media account to check out the photos he occasionally posted. His blue and gold pupils looked particularly deep under the strong sunlight.
"Although the skin is dark, in reality few people see heterochromia." Harry said for no reason.
"Yeah, maybe it's the special Egyptian bloodline? In order for goblins to gain the trust of ordinary people more quickly in the process of executing Gringotts' business, appearance is probably one of the reference factors for interviews - you can think of Fleur Delacour and Bill Weasley." Draco replied.
"So -" Harry was a little surprised, "Gringotts thinks it's easier to gain the trust of strangers this way?"
"Maybe." Draco looked at the crowd flowing through the gate of Gringotts, searching for Lancelot.
