Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy

Chapter 3: Garlon! Garlon!

Diagon Alley, London. Gringotts Wizarding Bank.

Draco stood by the window of the goblin's office on the third floor of the marble building, watching the people coming and going downstairs. The start time of Hogwarts was getting closer and closer, and Diagon Alley was full of chattering children dragging their parents to different stores.

The velvet curtains only blocked half of the window. London had a rare good day, and the bright sunshine jumped into the office from outside, making the dragon scale products reflect a sharp and dazzling light.

Draco turned around from time to time to look at the goblin at the table who was carefully examining the dragon scale products brought from Wu Gorge.

"So beautiful, so beautiful." The fairy's sunken black eyes never left the newly purchased trophies. Her hands kept turning the inside of the products against the light, as if she was trying to find some flaws.

"I have to say, Mr. Malfoy, you did a great job. This batch of dragon scale products is more than ten times more valuable than the Muggle currency budget we put in this time, and the treasures were not damaged during the escort process." After an unknown amount of time, the goblin waved to the two transport specialists to send them to the underground vault. "Then, considering your work in our bank and our subsequent long-term cooperation..."

Draco withdrew his gaze from the window, walked to the table and took over the goblin's words, "Considering our long-term cooperation, there are still many things that need to be changed in Gringotts."

"The vaults that were casually broken into during the war, the fancy protective spells, the dragons that flew away, and the damaged roofs are now all scandals at Gringotts."

"Gringotts Wizarding Bank has always been run by goblins. Although I don't know how goblins pay each other for their work, as more wizards join Gringotts' core positions, salaries will become a new expense."

"Gringotts' services have always been inflexible. In addition to the fancy security measures that require people to spend several hours to withdraw money, Gringotts' services for high-end people are also very scarce. And the investment--" Draco pointed to Weasley's Wizard Wheezes on the other side, "If Gringotts can participate in the initial investment of these stores, there will actually be a good return."

"Of course, this may happen a long time in the future. Right now, just rebuilding and upgrading security here will cost a lot of gold galleons."

"Considering that you goblins didn't pay attention to the profit-making nature of Gringotts before, and at the same time didn't recognize the wizards' right to purchase goblin products, why don't you consider starting Gringotts' goblin product rental business now?" Draco placed the plan he had prepared in front of the goblin.

"The goblin products you are so proud of will not earn you more gold galleons if they are just kept in the vault. The days when goblins controlled the coinage are gone forever."

The goblin had put on a questioning expression, his ears pricked up in alertness.

Draco said nothing more and walked out the door, "You can think about it first, I'll see you at the meeting."

The goblin gently picked up the plan and spoke as if in a warning: "Before the decision-makers make a decision, Mr. Malfoy should just do his job well."

Draco was not displeased by the goblin's slightly tough attitude, because the image of a green-eyed little Auror emerged in his mind.

Harry took the box of green treats from Ron.

"Here, this is a special pastry that Hermione and I bought when we were on our honeymoon in Arabia. If you eat this pastry, there's a certain chance that grass will grow from your ears. It tastes pretty good."

Harry choked halfway through swallowing his food, because he had not eaten anything this morning and had just arrived at Ron and Hermione's new home. He was already starving, and he stuffed a piece of food into his mouth before Ron could finish his words.

Harry quickly touched his ears to confirm.

"It doesn't matter. Even if it grows, it will be high-quality and healthy grass. Maybe there are no plants in the desert, so this kind of dessert was developed." Ron showed a hint of expectation in his eyes.

Harry opened his mouth and originally wanted to ask, "Did you have a good honeymoon?", but because he was anxious to check if there was any grass coming out of his ears, he swallowed it in one gulp and only made a 'lurking' sound in his throat.

Hermione looked at Harry's expression and revealed a look of understanding. "This time I happened to visit the academic birthplace of Arithmancy. Although I only need to temporarily teach courses at Hogwarts now, I still feel that I need to study more deeply. The honeymoon period is a good time."

Ron curled his lips imperceptibly. "You know, ever since Neville published his herbal research results on dragons in the important journal 'Practical Potion Master', Hermione has..."

"Of course I very much hope to achieve such results more quickly. Moreover, I am currently staying at Hogwarts mainly as a researcher, and the teaching tasks assigned to me are not heavy." Hermione blushed slightly.

"My dear, it's only a matter of time before no one questions who is the smartest witch in the world." Ron also took a piece of dessert and stuffed it into his mouth.

"Yes, speaking of Neville's herbal achievement, there have been more cases of private dragon breeding recently. Part of the reason why I went on a mission with Malfoy a few days ago was because the difficulty of raising dragons has been reduced." Harry took over the conversation.

"Malfoy? Draco Malfoy?" Ron's eyes widened.

"Yes." Harry nodded in confirmation. "And it's a mission document from the Ministry of Magic and Gringotts, with his name on it."

Hermione thought thoughtfully, "The Daily Prophet has indeed discussed the negative news about Gringotts for some time, and it is also firmly believed that it was the actions of the three of us that exposed the flaws of Gringotts. But it is indeed a bit unexpected that Malfoy would join Gringotts."

"Ever since you two announced your breakups with your girlfriends almost at the same time, I haven't heard your names mentioned together." Ron shrugged, and then his expression became serious again. "Anyway, don't come to see Ginny again from now on."

Harry's heart sank again. After the war, he felt that the Weasley family had sacrificed too much for him. Whether it was Mr. Weasley's previous injury, George's ears, or Fred's departure... they all made him feel guilty when facing Ginny.

It also made it impossible for him to continue facing Ginny as before.

After countless reconstructions, treatments, and rehabilitations, the grief hidden deep in my heart has become less frequent.

"Ahem," Hermione interrupted the topic quickly, "I will go back to school after Hogwarts starts, and Ron will continue to work at the Department of Magical Games and Sports. We won't see each other too often in the future."

Speaking of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, Ron's face darkened even more.

Although the new director was not as bad as Bagman, the new Quidditch World Cup was approaching, and it was a critical time to organize preparations for the event. This meant that Ron would have to face a period of endless overtime after his vacation.

"What's more frightening than the various details of the event is that the budget given by the Ministry of Magic for arranging the event can only cover about one-third of the plan." Ron said indignantly, "This means that the rest of the budget will depend on us to attract sponsorship and investment. I didn't expect that I would have to experience poverty while working."

"But everyone is looking forward to the first Quidditch World Cup after the war," Harry consoled. "It's been a long time since we last had such a grand event. You will surely be able to surprise everyone."

Ron seemed to gain some confidence after hearing this.

"There will be a way. At least you don't have to work with your mortal enemy." Harry frowned slightly. "If the long-term mission he mentioned is true, then I suspect that a large part of my subsequent work injuries will come from fighting Malfoy."
