Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy

Chapter 25: Pureblood Defection

Matthew's audience seat was right in the middle of the venue, and he could see all the performances of the contestants.

Alex gradually got into the groove during the game. After winning two games in a row, he did not give his opponent any chance to breathe in the new game.

"Alex has always been a very talented child. His wonderful performance today will surely amaze the audience." Draco turned his head and said to Matthew with a polite smile.

"Excellence is always passed on." Matthew tried hard to suppress the smug look on his face.

You know, present today include the children of the same company leader as Matthew, as well as other Lakeside Club members who have always prided themselves on being from a noble family, rich, and usually unwilling to look the Forsyth family in the eye.

Matthew, who entered the financial industry with his high education and squeezed into the wealthy area with his high salary, is always careful to avoid being regarded as a nouveau riche.

In order to defend their own class, the Muggle elites have formed heavily guarded fortresses, and newcomers have to find ways to perfectly integrate into the new circle.

The Felicis Felicis reminded Draco to continue talking to Matthew.

"You know, Alex has been studying hard just to catch up with you. He even mentioned to us in math class that you had excellent grades in college."

Draco recalled that Matthew's research data showed that his performance was acceptable, so he brought up a new topic.

"Humph! I didn't spend money to get into a prestigious school like those idiots whose ancestors were rich," Matthew sneered. "I relied on my own real talent and knowledge. But after you start working, you will find that some things are more important than studying. If you want to achieve better results than ordinary people, you need more means and help."

"I heard that the hedge fund you are in charge of is far ahead of its peers." Draco continued along Matthew's line of thought, "A respectable money hunter."

"Of course. You can always get first-hand key information ahead of the market and news at the Lakeside Club. When everyone feels something and you trade, it's too late." Matthew smiled sarcastically. "The first breeze of winter always blows silently."

"You mean insider trading? - Please forgive my overly blunt wording." Draco maintained a smiling expression.

Matthew did not deny it, but he did not go into the topic further. "Stay close to the people who make the rules - the rules are always in their favor."

"I would be honored to have the opportunity to talk to the seniors of the Lakeside Club." Driven by the felony elixir, Draco went straight to the point.

"In fact, our family has been engaged in cross-border trade for a long time, and perhaps we will have the opportunity to exchange information with you."

With a combination of lies, sweet words and Confusion Charms, Matthew patted Draco's shoulder wordlessly.

He now has a good impression of the two new tutors around him. On the one hand, Alex's game results gave the most direct feedback, and this change of tutors is a good deal for him.

More importantly, he saw ambition in them - mainly in the eyes of the young man with light blond hair. He was not unaware of the intention to cling to him. The purposeful approach reminded Matthew of himself when he was younger.

This young tutor named Malfoy graduated from a prestigious university and came from a prominent family. He had a handsome face and was well-dressed without being too eye-catching. However, Matthew could vaguely sense the lurking danger in his grey eyes, like a hissing snake lurking in the dark.

"When I was young, I also wanted to squeeze into their circle like you, and I did it. If the opportunity is right, I will introduce you. There are also many successful businessmen in the Lakeside Club. To hell with those who think they are blue-blooded aristocrats. Now they are the ones who should be eliminated."

"It's ridiculous to rely on blood ties and early wealth accumulation to seek benefits for yourself and always occupy the top of the social pyramid." Draco agreed.

"I can't imagine them living in an ancestral house that's hundreds of years old. How stupid." Matthew gritted his teeth.

Suddenly, there was a burst of warm applause from all around. It turned out that Alex had won an overwhelming victory. The game was over.

Matthew put on his coat and walked down the auditorium with a beaming face. "Looks like I have to go give my triumphant little warrior a hug. I can't wait to see the defeated look on the leader's face."

"I really didn't expect that." Harry, who had been sitting next to Draco and silent for a long time, suddenly spoke.

"What didn't you expect?" Seeing Matthew's back moving down the stairs, Draco breathed a sigh of relief and collapsed in his seat.

"I didn't expect to hear such words from a pure-blood enthusiast, even if it was just a show." Harry supported his head and answered truthfully. "I even suspected for a moment that someone had drunk Polyjuice Potion and turned into a fake Malfoy."

"The pure-blood theory did not protect me at the most critical moment. On the contrary, I was able to figure out what I truly recognized by putting aside the concepts that I had been instilled with since childhood."

Draco frowned as he watched Matthew posing with his arm around Alex as they took photos in the audience.

"I feel a sense of crisis. I seem to be becoming more and more like Saint Potter."

"Yes, now that I see you, I don't have the urge to curse you anymore." Harry responded to Draco's jokes expressionlessly. "You should make a cheering sign for Alex, or write a victory song. I remember your "Potter Stinky Shit" medal, and the beautiful song "Weasley is Our King."

"You should thank me for inspiring your fighting spirit," Draco said with a toothy smile. "Look, you still remember it now. Leaving it in memory is the highest compliment."

There was still half-dried blood on Alex's legs, but Matthew seemed to be in no hurry to drag him around and talk to him, as if he was a newly-exhibited exhibit.

Just as Harry and Draco were looking at Alex who was forced to work with affection from afar, a strange dark-skinned boy came up to them.

"Harry Potter, the boy who lived, the savior, I never thought I would meet you in person one day." The boy spoke.

Harry was startled by the sudden greeting; since his mission in the Muggle world, he was used to being pointed at in the street.

And the boy's two eyes are one gold and one blue.

Draco regarded the stranger with a hint of wariness.

"My name is Lancelot. I was Bill's colleague when he was a curse breaker in Egypt. He mentioned you and his brothers. Maybe we can get to know each other." The dark-skinned boy greeted with a smile.

Harry held out his hand in a friendly gesture.

"We Egypt are a strong country in squash. Meeting you is an unexpected gain from watching the game today. Maybe we will meet again." Lancelot said to Matthew and his son from afar.

Finally, when Matthew had gained enough vanity from the flash lights, Alex, who looked obviously unhappy, was finally taken back to the car.

"If Matthew wants to stand any longer, I'm afraid Apparition will be the only way for us to make it to the play audition." Draco handed Alex a box of ointment and glanced at the time.

Red light. Red light. Red light.

Matthew's good mood seemed to be fleeting. Alex, who was standing next to him, had droopy eyelids due to fatigue from the competition. He was awakened by Matthew's roar: "Why are you so lazy? Why don't you review your lines while you have time? You are not cut out to play the leading role!"

Harry pursed his lips tightly and endured Matthew's bad temper. The Felicis seemed to be waiting with him for the upcoming substitution.

"Ding Dong" Harry's phone showed a new pop-up window, which was a friend request sent by the Egyptian boy just now.

"That's pretty fast. Let him add me too." Draco sat down next to Harry and looked at the phone screen together. "For safety's sake."
