Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy
Chapter 23 Dream Chapter
Maybe it was because he had slept in Hagrid's cabin for the whole afternoon, but Harry unexpectedly couldn't sleep after returning to his apartment late at night.
Harry turned over gently, rehearsing in his mind everything he would experience after daybreak - according to the plan, the Forsyth family would first send Alex to the squash court in Brooklyn Heights to participate in the regional youth championship, and then return to school to audition for the drama. During this period, he and Draco needed to find an opportunity to cast a copy spell to switch the silver sword, and then send it back to the Ministry of Magic for testing as soon as possible. They also had to seize the only opportunity to communicate with Matthew. As Alex's father, Matthew did not show up often. If they missed this opportunity, the next meeting would be a long way off.
Does the silver sword really have the same negative effects as the Slytherin locket? Can a mere decoration in the room cause Muggles to lose control of their emotions? Then do I and Draco have to take turns to watch over this object as before to ensure safety?
After talking with Hagrid, a suffocating feeling of oppression surrounded Harry's heart.
Fairy. Will I have to experience the nightmare again after experiencing it once? This thought kept appearing in my mind.
Harry simply sat up from the bed. He did not draw the curtains as usual before going to bed today. A few rays of moonlight shone through the window onto the bedside, and the round-frame glasses on the table reflected a faint light.
Harry casually tapped the Muggle phone on the side. The screen showed that it was already three o'clock in the morning. He felt a sense of confusion for no reason. His mouth became dry and his wand was not at hand, so Harry decided to go downstairs to get some water.
The kitchen was very close to the stairs, and Harry tried hard to control every step without making any sound. After pouring the water, Harry looked back at Draco's profile, which was vaguely outlined by the moonlight not far away.
Draco's bed - or rather, the thicker version of the mattress - was next to the French window on the first floor. There was no space for a bed on the first floor of the duplex apartment, but in order to separate the two people's separate resting places, Draco adjusted the position of the original bookshelf, and then stuffed the mattress bought from the Muggle store into the remaining space, covered it with sheets and quilts, and this became his resting place.
It's not that there's no room for improvement in the apartment, but in order to prevent the landlord or other Muggles from suddenly visiting one day (for example, when Alex heard that the two tutors lived together, he loudly suggested to visit them in his free time. Unfortunately, Alex still has no free time), the two did not use magic to make too many modifications, and tried to maintain the image of two ordinary young people who had just arrived in the big city to work hard.
Harry once suspected that Draco would not be able to get used to such a simple configuration, so he proposed to swap with him and sleep downstairs. Draco just waved his hand lazily after hearing this: "Hearing the story of baby Potter sleeping in the cupboard makes me want to cry. I don't want to become your second uncle, and I'm too lazy to climb the stairs." Harry gave up.
Harry quietly returned to his bed with the cup of water, holding his breath and feeling the tranquility of the night. It seemed that he could only hear his own heartbeat and the occasional sound of a car passing by downstairs.
Suddenly, the Muggle phone next to me vibrated, indicating a new message.
Click to open.
"Can't sleep?" This was the message from Draco.
Harry put down the cup gently, realizing that he had woken him up.
"Yeah, sorry," Harry typed back.
"I didn't hear you talking in your sleep today, so I knew you definitely didn't sleep well." Draco quickly sent a new message.
Harry felt like he forgot to breathe for a moment. Had he been talking in his sleep?
Draco seemed to sense Harry's delay in replying and changed the subject, "If you can't sleep, you can lean against the window and count the stars. You will feel sleepy soon."
Harry quickly turned off his phone and began to recall what he had dreamed about recently.
In fact, he knew what was in his dreams every day without having to try hard to recall.
He couldn't imagine whether he was screaming out of control in his dream again.
His nightmares at Hogwarts would cause Ron to rush to his four-poster bed and ask if he was okay.
After work, he lived alone and no one mentioned all this to him.
The damn brain connection with Voldemort had disappeared for a long time, but Harry's transition to the new life was not as smooth as he had imagined. His dreams were like a large Pensieve, replaying fragments of memories from all these years.
Time doesn't take away everything.
The brain invades as if jokingly when my will is weakest, forcing me to return to those scenes that I don't want to recall.
Tower... Dumbledore fell down like a broken doll after being hit by the spell.
Ministry of Magic...Sirius slowly fell behind the veil of the Department of Mysteries
The Castle...Fred's last empty smile
Room... a pool of blood from Snape being torn apart by Nagini
In the wilderness... Cedric died next to the trophy
... Quirrell took off his scarf... his blood was used to regenerate Voldemort... face to face again and again...
The dream was replayed countless times, pulling myself back into memories that were more terrifying than nightmares.
Harry felt his vision blurring, and when he came to his senses again, he found himself sobbing.
Draco stood beside him with a bottle of potion in his hand.
"Sorry." Harry wiped the tears from his face.
"In fact, you finished talking in your sleep in Hagrid's hut this afternoon." Draco sighed softly, "But don't worry, they didn't hear it - I was the only one there at the time."
Harry covered his face with his hands, his lightning-shaped scar clearly visible in the moonlight.
"I haven't been involved in much of what you've been through over the years, but if you need to talk, get help, or just vent your emotions, you can always find me. You know, I'm downstairs." Draco said softly.
Harry opened his mouth but said nothing.
Draco emptied the glass and poured the potion into it.
"This is a world where bad things can happen." Draco held the cup to Harry's lips. "But we still have to face tomorrow."
"But tonight, let's forget all this for a while."
Harry drank it obediently, and he took Draco's hand, who clasped his fingertips.
Soon, the warmth and drowsiness transmitted by the potion made him relax, and his consciousness gradually faded away.
Harry felt Draco help him back to the bed and tuck the covers over him.
The sound of footsteps gradually faded away from his ears.
