Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy

Chapter 157 Unbreakable Vow

Draco walked into the attic of Tonks's house.

The dirty floor was littered with everything the werewolf hadn't taken away before leaving, a few bunched-up old clothes, empty bottles, scattered wrapping paper, and small gadgets whose purpose was unclear. The house was now very quiet, empty, with only traces of haste and confusion on the eve of the final battle.

The person lying on the bed was Teddy. He had obviously been moved here from the ground, and now he was curled up like a baby.

The effect of the Polyjuice Potion had worn off, and Draco saw Eddard, still wearing Harry's clothes, walking around the attic, writing something down quickly in his notebook with a shorthand pen.

"Why are you here?" Ed asked, looking up from his notebook. "I thought you would accompany Harry to the other side of the Portkey to fight, or keep Harry in Malfoy Manor to prevent him from going out on adventures."

"For Harry's wish - and for him." Draco put his hands in his robe pockets and walked straight towards the brown-haired boy. "You haven't left yet? In fact, the clues you provided here are enough. The werewolf has already gone to the Quidditch World Cup venue."

"I'm waiting for Lancelot. I'm afraid we have some tricky sideshows elsewhere tonight," Ed said with interest.

The Tonks ancestral home was now empty, with the door open and the draft blowing in, making the whole house howl like a devil. Draco seemed to understand why Teddy tolerated so many werewolves crammed here. If it was just one person living here, this house would seem too empty and too big, especially after the show ended, when he felt lonely and lost.

"I fed Teddy some of the remaining unconsciousness potion. I'm afraid he won't wake up until the Ministry of Magic sends someone." Ed was a little surprised when he saw Draco took out his wand. "You want to wake him up?"

"He's Harry's godson. Harry won't have the heart to leave him alone." Draco's wand tip hovered over Teddy's head. "Teddy didn't participate in the goblin's big plan tonight - it's a blessing in disguise."

Ed paused to observe Tonks' ancestral home. Judging from the traces left by the werewolves, it was not surprising that they would choose to risk everything for an unpredictable future - regular monthly transformations, daily dangerous work, and a fate like a bet. "So what are you and Harry planning?"

"Harry originally told me that he wanted to take Teddy to Godric's Hollow to live with him after he was arrested and tried," Draco replied.

"Teddy is still a child. If the previous attack had not occurred in a conscious state, he might have been spared the punishment of going to Azkaban," Ed analyzed.

"But even if he can avoid going to Azkaban, Harry, as an Auror, won't have time to take care of him during his mission." Draco waved his hand and said, "After the trial, the discrimination caused by his werewolf identity will permanently affect his future life."

"That's indeed a problem." Ed nodded.

"So this brings me to the topic. As an important part of Harry's future life -" Draco said in a long tone, "I happen to know more about clearing the name, I happen to have more free time, I happen to have more money than I can spend, and after being a tutor, I have some experience in education... I would like to volunteer..."

"You're coming?" Edelweiss widened his eyes in surprise.

"But I'm not a saint." Draco said self-deprecatingly, casting a resuscitation spell on Teddy, "Resurrect quickly."

Teddy had been tied up tightly, and the resuscitation spell took effect quickly, and he slowly opened his eyes. In the empty room, there were only two people who had met once when kidnapping the Godfather.

After making sure that Teddy was conscious, Draco grabbed Teddy by the collar and said, "We should be familiar with each other - you talked to me a lot when you pretended to be Harry."

"Now we have to have a serious talk about your past, present and future. There is also a very serious condition. You have to make a decision before the Ministry of Magic arrives."

When Lancelot walked into the room, he saw this scene: Teddy was crying with his face covered, while Draco was facing him with a stern expression, and Ed was crossing his arms between the two of them, writing something quickly with a shorthand pen.

"What happened here?" Lancelot had already sorted out all the tools, but the scene before him was a little strange.

"I gave Teddy a detailed introduction to the goblin's plan and the current situation - his possible sentencing and future life after being captured by the Ministry of Magic - as well as Harry's and my willingness to adopt him," Draco concluded in one breath.

"He obviously didn't know about the goblins' final attack plan. But we can't deny the previous incident with his grandmother and the fact that he pretended to be Harry to assist the goblins." Ed added between turning pages.

"Adopt?" Lancelot raised his eyebrows.

"As long as you have the will to get back on track," Draco said as he carefully stacked up the chocolate pictures of Lupin and Tonks on the wall. "Your godfather and I will love you, including taking care of your future life, the necessary funds, the latest potions, and the care of your family..."

"But you have to make an unbreakable vow for this." Draco stared into Teddy's eyes. "This is a vow that means death if you break the agreement. I don't want you to have any chance to hurt your godfather again - no matter what the method. Your talent makes you destined to be a big trouble that is difficult to control - if you want to."

Teddy just realized where all the werewolf friends who disappeared from the house had gone, and in an instant he understood their strange behavior last night. They were the potholes in the imperfect system of wizard society and the rust belts on the new social machine. Teddy's tears made it difficult for him to speak complete sentences.

"If you want, just extend your hand and complete this vow. Say I do after I ask." Draco has already extended his right hand. "If you don't want, I will disappear from your life, but I will not agree to Harry keeping a dangerous person around."

Teddy's face turned pale due to too many tears. He slowly stretched out his right hand. His palm was cold, and it seemed to tremble when it touched Draco's palm, but he did not let go after all.

Ed pulled out his wand and placed the tip of it on his folded hands.

"This is an oath that will kill you if you break it," Draco said. "Teddy, in the days ahead, are you willing to take your medicine on time, do your best to live a normal life, and not hurt others or yourself?"

"I do." Teddy stared at the flames that burst out of the wand and wrapped around their wrists like hot metal wires.

"Teddy, are you willing to always be honest with your godfather and watch over and protect him when necessary?"

"I do." The second tongue of fire intertwined with the first, emitting a dazzling red light.

"Teddy, are you willing to return the love of family members to those who treat you like family?"

"I am willing."

Lancelot looked at the red marks reflected in the pupils of the three people. The fiery color seemed to dissolve anything hard.
