Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy
Chapter 153 Durmstrang Past
The last group match before the Quidditch World Cup final.
If they win this game, the Bulgarian national team will have a chance to compete for the World Cup championship or runner-up.
The sudden storm blurred the view. While most players had to focus on not falling off their brooms, Krum was still as light as a feather. The enemy Seeker followed Krum's movements closely, as if Krum was the golden snitch that he needed to keep an eye on.
The team uniforms were hanging wetly on their bodies, and the team members flew at an extremely fast speed and used their bodies to cut through the dense rain curtain.
It would be better to finish the game quickly and save some energy for my teammates and myself to prepare for the finals. Krum thought so, concentrating on finding the golden light in the chaotic rain and fog. The weather was bad and visibility was poor from any direction, but Krum could still hear the enthusiastic cheers and his own name coming from the audience.
As an international competition that is held only once every four years, it is obvious that most Bulgarian fans are very excited and place their greatest expectations on this superstar seeker.
"Volkanov - Ivanova - Levski - Bulgaria scores!" The commentator struggled to identify the game situation. Even in such bad weather conditions, the Quidditch field changed rapidly.
Krum squinted his eyes and circled the court like a hawk. The woodland not far from the court distracted him for a few seconds. There seemed to be something - he was sure it was not a wizard, but a short creature carrying something, a dark mass. The game was still in progress, so it was reasonable that there would be no one in the rest camp.
"Hey! Be careful!" A teammate fiercely knocked the Bludger that was flying past Krum's ear away. "Are you feeling unwell?"
As if worried that Krum might be hit by the ball, the audience booed in surprise.
"Sorry." Krum turned and looked at the scoreboard. The score showed that Bulgaria was temporarily leading by 20 points.
Krum knew that he should put aside the strange sight he had just seen and search for the small golden figure as soon as possible while he still had an advantage in the score.
Maybe the storm was too strong - what I just saw was an illusion -
What are they transporting?
The enemy Seeker who had been following him suddenly changed direction. Krum subconsciously looked in the direction he was flying - the Golden Snitch was not far above.
"They saw the Golden Snitch! The score difference is only 20 points! Whoever catches it will have the chance to advance to the finals!" The commentator obviously also noticed the actions of the two seekers.
It was because of his distraction that he couldn't close the gap with the enemy. Krum rode his broom and tried his best to go up. He was still a little short of the distance, so he simply let go of his hands from the broom - and then his whole body - and flew up into the air using inertia to fight against gravity. He seemed to be an object that was out of the control of nature and rose freely - Krum caught the Golden Snitch a few centimeters before the opponent's fingertips - and then began to fall.
"Krum is flying!" the commentator exclaimed.
Falling down, Krum thought.
Because of his rapid fall, the raindrops around him seemed to float in slow motion in the air, and it took a long time for them to fall to the ground, and the rain splashed high, hitting his cheeks. He hit the ground heavily, and then raised the hand holding the Golden Snitch high.
"He caught the Snitch! Bulgaria advances to the finals with a 170-point lead! Congratulations to Krum! Congratulations to the Bulgarian team!"
This was followed by cheers louder than a storm.
There's just the next one.
Competitive sports can be a moment of brilliance or a long-lasting regret. Injury, poor form, retirement, old age, accidents, who knows which will come first. The saddest thing for a player is probably to be told that his peak was last season.
Krum closed his eyes and prayed that the paramedics would get to him before he felt the pain. The Snitch's little wings flapped against his fingers - someone said the sky was his home.
--------
Several years ago. Durmstrang. After first year flying lessons.
Krum felt a little dazed after being praised by the flying teacher, and it seemed that his disgust for this school was diluted a lot. Durmstrang advocated military management, and it was so strict that all students had to keep the same hairstyle and school robes, even regardless of the college.
Krum was originally full of resistance to Durmstrang - just because the dark wizard Grindelwald who killed his grandfather came from this school, and many people in this school copied Grindelwald's logo on textbooks and clothes, wanting to appear great. But as a freshman, it is impossible to conflict with these seniors, and this is the atmosphere of this school. The current headmaster Karkaroff is also very snobbish, and he doesn't take ordinary students seriously.
"You fly like a fairy - as if your body has no weight." Ed appeared out of nowhere, chewing the dessert with his mouth twisting. "The flying teacher has taught so many students, and he is surprised by you."
"Maybe I'll do well in my flying class." Krum tried to stay calm. He looked gloomy most of the time during his time at Durmstrang, and he didn't have many friends. He was not noticeable in the crowd. "But I think study is more important. Last time, I was cursed and cast black magic by those bastards - if you hadn't found out, I can't imagine what the consequences would be."
"They said the flying class teacher will recommend you to the Quidditch team. That way my camera will come in handy. After all, I'm tired of taking pictures of the iceberg lake near the school - and there's nothing to take pictures of those arrogant seniors." Ed and Krum seemed to sympathize with each other - but Ed's dissatisfaction with the school was not only the overly depressing atmosphere, but also the overly boring food.
"I haven't thought about it that much," Krum replied. He was only eleven years old, and his broomstick was taller than him. "And only those who are stronger than the current team should have a chance. Anyway--"
"It's cool that the first grade has a chance to beat the senior grade." Ed handed Krum a chocolate frog, "Help me cut them hard. I want to grow up to be seven years old and cut them hard."
Krum twisted his mouth into a smile that was not very skillful.
The stories of geniuses are always similar. Just as the brilliance of the Golden Snitch is rarely ignored, people are always keen to identify talents. Krum has been smooth sailing from training to being selected for the national team. Krum gradually became the apple of the eye of the then headmaster Karkaroff. As his reputation grew, the previous roundabout hostility in the school gradually disappeared.
"Look at this news report - Durmstrang is harmonious and friendly, Karkaroff is generous and kind, Krum has been treated well since he entered school -" Ed laughed as he read the article in the newspaper, "This reporter borrowed my photo and wrote so many whitewashed lies, but overall, it's better than saying bad things."
"Except for the photos, everything else is a failure." Krum straightened his robes. "But being famous has at least one benefit. I don't have to see that evil mark anymore. Fame has earned me respect, and before I would have only been humiliated if I had asked for it."
"I'm going to join the newspaper and usurp the position of editor-in-chief, and then tell the world how bad the food at Durmstrang is." Ed straddled the camera.
"I suspect your real purpose is to expose Karkaroff's evil deeds." Krum pointed out bluntly. "I'm going to play the game, bless me."
"What kind of blessing is a truly qualified blessing?" Ed pretended to think hard.
Krum was stunned for a moment. Apparently he hadn't thought about this question seriously. This was his first international competition and he was just a little nervous.
"I don't want my expectations to put unnecessary pressure on you, and I don't want you to worry about responding to my expectations or the expectations of your growing number of fans." Ed blinked his icy blue eyes, "Since the sky is your home court, I just wish you a happy flight."
