Harry Potter: Reunion with the Enemy
Chapter 15 Time Turner
It was impossible to imagine that you could learn all the Muggle exam skills in a few days and then run to the Forsyth family and pretend to be the Big Tail Wolf.
Fortunately, Harry realized that something was wrong when the agreed time was approaching, and he immediately sent an urgent letter to the Ministry of Magic to apply for a time-turner.
Finally, Kingsley successfully applied for a temporary permit for them. Harry carefully poured out the small, shiny golden timer from the envelope. The long gold chain flowed down from his fingertips, feeling cold.
"So, this is?" Draco lay on the table and read Kingsley's carefully worded rules for the use of the Time Turner, which he wrote on several pages.
Harry briefly recounted Hermione's little prop in third grade and how Professor McGonagall had applied for this powerful auxiliary tool for her.
"It can rewind a few hours so that you can catch up with your classes," Harry explained. "Hermione wanted to learn so much that year."
Draco's eyes widened in surprise. "This kind of time magic is only mentioned in a few books. It turns out that ordinary students can make exceptions and apply for these."
"We also used this to save the Hippogriff that you provoked at that time." Harry tried hard to restrain himself from rolling his eyes for Buckbeak who almost died.
"I have to admit, I was a bit annoying when I was a kid." Draco thought thoughtfully. Obviously, he had not forgotten what happened in that class, especially when he just learned that the hippogriff was actually Harry's property now.
"It's the same now...playing squash makes me want to ram myself into the wall. It's annoying, that's right." Harry replied without thinking.
"I just slipped and fell on you. The squash court is as small as a cage."
"That's one too many falls," Harry replied calmly.
"Anyway, it was you who almost couldn't get out of bed because of muscle soreness due to lack of exercise, and I gave you a potion to restore your strength." Draco's attention was completely away from the Muggle simulation paper, and he waved one hand in the air in vain to argue.
"Maliciously attacking an Auror is illegal. Or you have wheels on your shoes." Harry ignored the innocent-looking blond demon who almost killed Buckbeak and almost sprained his waist.
Harry watched the owl flap its wings and fly away, and began to think about how to make full use of the few hours of the time turner to pull Draco to another place to study with him for a while.
In fact, Draco's current knowledge reserve was enough to deal with a teenager. Considering that the signed contract mentioned door-to-door service, if he stayed with the Forsyth couple for a while longer, he might let slip some common sense.
Harry decided to make good use of the last bit of time to give Draco some Muggle common sense lessons.
The use of the Time Turner requires that your true self after time travel cannot be seen by your previous self.
After a brief thought, Harry announced that he would drag Draco to different places for a few hours each.
"We will first run to a new place, use the time turner to go back, study during this time, come back when the time is up, and repeat the above steps until you have a solid grasp of Muggle knowledge."
"You mean to ask me to go to the forest or the wilderness to memorize the books?" Draco leaned back on his leather sofa reluctantly. "Do you know how long I have been looking for a suitable rental house?"
The rental location Draco chose was indeed comfortable enough.
Although Draco had previously claimed that the travel funds provided by Gringotts were insufficient, Harry was still a little surprised when he finally moved in. Within the currency exchange limit and the funding limit, this cottage was already very exquisite.
Draco picked a two-story loft duplex near Tenth Avenue.
"Two floors. You sleep upstairs and I'll sleep downstairs. I'll free up this side of the first floor and put another bed there."
"I thought you would prefer a retro place after you're used to living in Malfoy Manor, with murals, fountains, white peacocks and so on." Harry walked up the stairs.
"Then the Muggle currency I have may only be enough to support me for two days. For the rest of the time, I will have to make a living by performing on the streets."
"But the old landlord said he would come in from time to time to see if we have damaged any furniture. I'm afraid I can't modify it secretly." There was no displeasure on Draco's face. It was obvious that he was very satisfied with the new cottage.
The second floor has a very high ceiling and is more spacious, with large floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides allowing for an unobstructed view of the surrounding buildings and scenery.
Harry leaned against the window and quietly watched the cars passing by below.
Draco stood behind him at some point, breathing lightly and looking at his back.
Only when Harry had his back to him would he occasionally reveal a melancholy expression.
Most people, including Harry, were usually fooled by Draco's constant bravado, and no one ever knew what Draco was really thinking, not even himself.
As a descendant of "pure blood" and "noble" instilled in his family from the moment he was born, living in a historic mansion, he could make the house elves do anything with just a word of instruction, and he could solve most problems with the pressure of his father. Being at the top of the contempt chain in the wizarding world, at a certain moment a long time after growing up, Draco realized that he had always been walking on a relatively narrow path.
In order to pass on the shining crown of "pure blood", he learned from a young age how to despise mudbloods, attack Muggles and everything related to them, and learn everything that aristocrats should learn.
Until one day, these ideas instilled in Draco's heart began to waver a little. It was the time when he grew up listening to stories about saviors but was rejected by Harry, the time when he discovered that his grades were not as good as Granger's, and the countless times when he secretly hoped to attract Harry's attention and provoked him in various ways.
This hesitation made Draco even forget all the etiquette teachings, and he confronted Harry again and again with an almost reckless attitude.
Draco had never told anyone that he didn't really like the manor that big. When his parents were not at home, he would wander around aimlessly by himself. When he looked back, he could only see the empty corridors and dark stone bricks.
Do I really like the exquisite luxury of the manor, or the mystery, refinement, darkness and coldness of the Slytherin common room?
Or is everything as simple as this enough?
Draco never got the chance to ask himself that.
Harry turned around and saw Draco looking absent-minded. "What's wrong with you?"
Draco brought his wandering thoughts back and met Harry's gaze. "Nothing, just thinking about something from the past."
"The past when you bullied people?" Harry felt that if he and Draco were to go over the past events and settle the scores one by one, several time-turners would not be enough.
"I only bullied you." Draco waved his hand nonchalantly, as if remembering that he had also attacked Hermione, and added absentmindedly, "I only wanted to bully you."
