Siheyuan: Classic Siheyuan

Chapter 4 Good friends

We had big pancakes made from three kinds of flour in the morning. I don’t know whether Wang Lanxiang’s was better or my sister-in-law Zhao Yanmin’s was better.

Chu Rongguang was quite full, but Chen Li seemed anxious and wanted to finish the meal right away.

The only thing that made Chu Rongguang feel uncomfortable was that his biological father Chen Gong was treated specially and was given an extra egg compared to everyone else.

When Chen Li saw Chu Rongguang put down his chopsticks, she wanted to jump up from the bench, but even so, she did not forget to bow to Chen Gong: "Dad, I'm going to school!"

"Ah."

Chen Gong nodded, but when he saw Chu Rongguang following him, he glanced at Chen Xingguo who was eating with his head down: "Boss, you..."

Wang Lanxiang quickly winked and waited for Chu Rongguang to come out of the room. He heard Wang Lanxiang whisper behind him, "Let the fourth child go. It will also enhance the relationship between the siblings."

Chu Rongguang followed behind Chen Li. This younger sister was like a little sparrow about to fly out of a cage. When she walked out of the hall, her steps became light.

Chu Rongguang actually had doubts about Chen Li needing someone to take her to school.

Not to mention that she is a high school student, even if she is an elementary school student, she would not have the privilege of being sent away by her family in this era.

He followed Chen Li with his hands in his pockets, walked out of the courtyard and turned left. Before Chu Rongguang could say anything, Chen Li pointed to the alley not far away.

Then she walked straight over. Chu Rongguang frowned slightly, but didn't say much and followed her in.

Obviously this was not the route to school, but he saw several students like Chen Li walking towards the intersection.

They went into the alley, and Chu Rongguang followed behind. After walking for about ten minutes, Chen Li finally stopped.

"Fourth brother..."

She turned around and glanced at Chu Rongguang, with a little apology on her face: "I, I want to ask you a favor."

Knowing that his sister was hiding something from him and her family, Chu Rongguang did not point it out. He walked forward and glanced around. The row of low earthen houses in front of him were all in ruins. This was caused by air raids by planes sent after the founding of the People's Republic of China, and these places had not been repaired for the time being.

Chen Li felt a little embarrassed when Chu Rongguang looked at her, and lowered her head: "Fourth brother, I can only beg you."

"Go ahead."

Chu Rongguang didn't ask for the reason directly. After all, she was a girl, and she must have her own reasons for not wanting to say it.

Unexpectedly, he agreed so readily. Chen Li looked up suddenly, with surprise and a little gratitude in her eyes.

She hurriedly took out two large pancakes from her schoolbag and handed them to Chu Rongguang: "This is for you, Fourth Brother. You, you help me take it inside."

Since he had agreed, Chu Rongguang didn't hesitate and took the pancake. He looked at the mud house and asked, "Who is it for?"

"Go inside and you'll see a house with half a door panel standing. When you go in, someone will come out and get it."

Chu Rongguang glanced at her. He had no doubt that this sister in front of him would harm him, but the country had just been founded.

There was nothing else in the city of Sijiu, but there were a lot of enemy spies.

In his previous life, he was a public security officer, so he knew a lot about some early cases of cracking down on reactionaries in the city of Beijing.

"Fourth brother, don't worry...he, he is my friend."

Seeing Chu Rongguang's hesitation, Chen Li hurriedly explained: "Yes, it's a very good one."

In fact, Chu Rongguang just thought so. Due to his many years of work experience, he was almost instinctively vigilant.

He smiled and touched Chen Li's head: "What are you talking about? How could I not believe you... Wait for me!"

Chu Rongguang stuffed the two big pancakes into his armpits, hugged his shoulders with his hands, lowered his head, and walked towards the mud house.

Chen Li was stunned for a moment, then she rolled her eyes and looked up, then smiled at Chu Rongguang's back, with a hint of intimacy in her eyes.

But at this moment, Chu Rongguang was not as relaxed as Chen Li thought. He walked carefully into the broken bricks and walls.

After years of work experience, Chu Rongguang has developed muscle reactions to work in harsh environments.

He looked at every detail around him. After walking for about a few minutes, half of the door panel appeared in front of him.

Chu Rongguang walked forward, but accidentally stepped on a tile. With a click, Chu Rongguang felt that there was someone in the broken house.

"call out!"

With the sound of breaking air, a brick actually flew out directly from the door. Fortunately, Chu Rongguang was prepared.

But at such a close distance, he could only raise his hand and use his arm to block the brick.

Chu Rongguang was enraged by the insidious move of the person inside. He stuffed the pancake into his trouser pocket and kicked half of the door panel in one step.

Unexpectedly, the people inside were not vague either. A burnt rafter was thrown directly at him on the head.

Seeing this, Chu Rongguang knew it was too late to hide, so he simply turned his body to the side. In such a narrow space at the door, the rafter hit him right at the tip of his nose.

Only at this moment did Chu Rongguang see clearly that the person who did it was a young man in his early twenties. He had angular facial features, a pair of sword-like eyebrows, and a cold temperament.

The opponent was stunned when he saw that his sneak attack missed, but Chu Rongguang did not give him the chance to continue attacking and kicked him sideways.

This forced the other party to let go of the rafter in his hand, and he only took half a step back, but Chu Rongguang pounced on him directly.

Such continuous attacks obviously frightened the young man, and he was directly ridden under Chu Rongguang.

He still wanted to struggle, but Chu Rongguang crossed his knees and pressed directly on his neck. He only heard the other party making uncomfortable noises, but he had no chance to resist.

"Chen Li asked me to come!"

Chu Rongguang did not kill them, that was only 50% of his strength. After all, Chen Li said that the people here were her good friends.

However, Chu Rongguang was very angry at the opponent's sneak attack with a brick just now.

"Ah..."

The subdued young man pointed at his mouth forcefully, and Chu Rongguang loosened his knees slightly.

“Ahem…you, you…”

The young man coughed a few times, then looked at him with shock in his eyes: "You, who are you?"

"I'm her fourth brother!"

Chu Rongguang stood up from him, and then brushed off the dirt left by the bricks on his arms. The young man also got up from the ground, but there was some dissatisfaction in his eyes. He rubbed his neck, stared, frowned, and asked unhappily: "You, you are so cruel... Fourth brother? Why haven't I heard that she has a fourth brother?"

Looking around, I saw a pile of weeds on the earthen kang, with signs of someone lying on it, and ashes from a burnt fire nearby.

A clay pot was hanging on the main beam nearby, but half of the roof had long gone. Chu Rongguang reached into his trouser pocket, and the young man subconsciously took a step back.

"take it easy……"

Chu Rongguang took out the crushed pancake and said apologetically, "It should still be edible."

The young man was stunned for a moment, then looked at Chu Rongguang: "You...are you really his fourth brother?"

"Replace it if it's fake!"

Chu Rongguang raised his eyebrows as he spoke: "Tell me about you, what's going on between you and my sister?"
