Siheyuan Great Craftsmen
Chapter 12 Change of mind
"It's so cold!"
A chill surged into his heart, and Zhou Tian couldn't help but wake up from his sleep. He looked outside and it was still pitch black. He wanted to continue sleeping, but the biting cold made it impossible for him to fall asleep.
Helplessly, he could only endure the cold, put on his clothes and climb up from the kang.
He lit the kerosene lamp on the table beside him. As a bright light appeared in the room, he looked down at the stove and found that it was out.
Listening to the howling cold wind outside, he knew that the weather would change today.
Thinking that he could be woken up by the cold from his sleep, he couldn't help but worry about his younger brother and sister's current situation, and hurried towards their room.
As soon as I walked into my second and third brother's room, I saw the two little guys sleeping very soundly, curled up together in quilts, as if trying to keep each other warm.
It seemed that the cold weather did not affect the sleep of the two little guys.
Seeing that his second and third brothers were fine, Zhou Tian walked towards his youngest sister's room. When he entered his youngest sister's room, he saw his youngest sister curled up in the corner, shivering from the cold.
Although he was still asleep, he kept muttering: "Mom, it's cold, so cold!"
Zhou Tian almost couldn't hold back his tears after hearing this. He walked forward, reached out and picked up his little sister, and brought her directly to his kang with a quilt.
He carefully placed his younger sister on the kang, wrapped her in a quilt, and then covered her with his own quilt.
Then he turned around and walked out of the house. As soon as he opened the door, an even colder chill hit him, making him shiver all over.
With the dim moonlight outside, he could faintly hear many neighbors complaining of the cold, and some who couldn't stand the cold began to get up.
Zhou Tian came to the place where firewood was stored in the yard, reached out and picked up a handful of firewood, turned and went into the house, and started to light the stove.
As the stove was lit and wisps of heat came out of it, he returned to the kang and looked at his younger sister who was sleeping soundly. At this time, his younger sister seemed to be feeling much better. Her curled up body began to relax and her breathing became even again.
He looked at his little sister lovingly and couldn't help but reach out and touch her forehead. He felt relieved when he felt the temperature was normal.
After a quick glance, he saw that the house was bare, with only a wardrobe, a chair and a table. He couldn't help but think about buying some furniture.
Especially the thin quilt made him want to cry.
In the past two years, he has been concentrating on improving his cooking skills, finding ways to cook for his younger siblings, and studying food, but he forgot to buy furniture for his home.
I also forgot that there are still a lot of things missing at home. Not to mention other things, just my younger brother and sister’s clothes. Two years have passed and it’s time to replace them with new ones.
Although the New Year has passed, the winter is still cold. He couldn't imagine what he would do if his younger brothers and sisters got sick from the cold.
He couldn't help but slap himself, thinking with some guilt in his heart.
And to be honest, the family was not short of money at all. He just acted poor because he was afraid of trouble. But now that he thought about it, he was an adult who could endure hardships, but his younger brothers and sisters were different because they were still growing up.
If they continue like this, it will not be good for their health.
"Whatever, whatever. My brother and sister's health is more important! When the sun rises, I will go buy new clothes for them, decorate the house, and buy furniture!"
After making up his mind, he felt a faint light in the room. Then in the blink of an eye, he saw that the sky outside had brightened.
He got up and blew out the kerosene lamp first, then added some dry firewood to the stove, then left the house and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for his younger brothers and sisters.
Thinking of his previous decision, he hardened his heart, scooped out two scoops of white flour from the kitchen, and started kneading the dough.
After a while, round buns appeared in his hands.
He lit the stove, steamed the buns, and then started to make the egg soup. Since he had decided not to care about other people's opinions, Zhou Tian naturally had to try his best to feed his younger brothers and sisters.
He took out two eggs, and as the water in the pot was boiling, he cracked the eggs into the pot, sprinkled a little salt, and added a little oil.
The rich aroma of egg soup instantly spread through the kitchen and into the yard.
"Who is it? It's so early in the morning, and you want to eat so well?"
Liu Haizhong's home.
Liu Haizhong's wife Wang Chunhua smelled the fragrance in the yard, couldn't help swallowing, and muttered.
"It seems that the smell comes from Zhou's house!"
Liu Guangqi, who was standing by, smelled the aroma of the egg soup and felt a protest in his stomach. He said with envy.
"The Zhou family, probably. Zhou Tian has become the master chef in the factory these days. I think they are celebrating!"
Although Liu Haizhong was also envious of the Zhou family's food, he was now an intermediate master in the factory and had his own pride. Hearing this, he said.
"Really? I didn't expect that in just two years, Zhou Tian has grown from a small apprentice to a master chef in the factory. To be honest, the boss, this Zhou Tian is really not an ordinary person!"
Wang Chunhua couldn't help but sigh when she talked about Zhou Tian.
After all, no one had thought that after Zhou Weiguo's death, the Zhou family would be supported by a little kid like Zhou Tian.
Thinking back to when Qian Er from the Qian family in the backyard wanted to occupy the Zhou family's house and was severely beaten up by Zhou Tian, she initially thought that Zhou Tian had offended the Qian family and was afraid that he would have a hard time in the future.
After all, Qian Er was a street thug at the time and had many connections in society. But Zhou Tian didn't expect that when Qian Er brought a lot of people to find trouble with Zhou Tian the next day, he was beaten up by Zhou Tian.
If Qian Er's grandmother had not pleaded for mercy, those people would probably have been beaten to death by Zhou Tian.
From then on, people in the yard would always avoid Zhou Tian when they saw him. After all, when Qian Er brought people to cause trouble for Zhou Tian, they were afraid of getting into trouble and did not show up.
He even spoke a few more words to help Qian Er when Qian Er was causing trouble, for fear that Zhou Tian would become jealous.
For a moment, it seemed as if the entire courtyard had isolated the Zhou family, and only the He family and the Xu family in the backyard had some contact with the Zhou family.
The Xu family got to know Zhou Hao because their son Xu Damao was in the same class as Zhou Hao and they had a very good relationship. As for the He family, they became acquainted because He Daqing accidentally smelled the fragrance of the dishes cooked by Zhou Tian one time.
"Yeah! Who would have thought?"
Liu Haizhong couldn't help but sigh. He took a look at his youngest son who was still in his cradle and his second son who was crawling beside him. He couldn't help but feel a surge of anger in his heart.
"It's all because of these two little guys. If it weren't for them, maybe I could have been promoted to master chef this year!"
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but look at his two sons with a slightly strange look in his eyes.
"Second brother, third brother, little sister, get up and eat!"
After the steamed buns were cooked, Zhou Tian shouted loudly into the house.
"Brother, I got it!"
The voice of the second brother Zhou Hao came from the room. As he spoke, the three little guys came out of the room one after another, especially the youngest sister Zhou Ting. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and looked at Zhou Tian with some grievance and said, "Brother, I was clearly sleeping in my own room last night, but why did I wake up in your room?"
As she spoke, tears began to well up in her eyes.
Zhou Tian couldn't help but feel heartbroken when he saw this. He picked up his little sister and asked, "What's wrong? Why can't you sleep in Big Brother's room?"
"But, but I wet the bed, and also wet big brother's quilt! Wuuuuuu!"
As she spoke, Zhou Ting lay down in Zhou Tian's arms and started crying, feeling aggrieved.
"It's okay, dear, it's okay, big brother doesn't blame me! Isn't it just wetting the bed? Don't worry, big brother will take you out to buy new quilts and new clothes today, okay? Don't cry! If you cry again, I won't be beautiful anymore!"
At first Zhou Tian thought it was something strange, but he didn't expect that his little sister had wet the bed. Suddenly, Zhou Tian felt both amused and helpless.
As he said this, Zhou Tian wiped his little sister's tears.
"Really? Brother, are you taking us shopping for new clothes?"
At this time, the third brother at the side heard this and asked happily.
"Of course it's true. Okay, third brother, take little sister back to the house first. It's a bit cold outside. Second brother, help me serve the food!"
"Okay big brother!"
Upon hearing this, the second and third brothers responded one after another. After that, the third brother took the younger sister, and the two of them held hands and went back to the house.
The second brother and Zhou Tian used a plate to take the steamed buns out of the steamer.
"Brother, you don't want to live like this, why are you using all the flour in your house to make steamed buns?"
Looking at the white flour buns in the steamer, Zhou Hao couldn't help asking. You know, he hasn't eaten white flour buns for a long time since his father passed away. He has always been eating two-grain flour buns.
And now my eldest brother has prepared a basket of pure white flour buns, which is too luxurious.
"What are you thinking about?"
Seeing Zhou Hao's gaze, Zhou Tian couldn't help but slap him on the head and scolded him with a smile: "You are still living a miserable life. Don't you think that your elder brother is now a master chef in the factory, earning more than 700,000 yuan a month? Do you think we can't afford to eat white flour buns?"
