One Piece: Under the Throne

Chapter 52: A Town Ruled by the Mafia

The Kingdom of Gorud, located in the West Sea, is a prosperous country with developed commerce. It has achieved its current prosperity after two generations of the rule of King Gorud, and the current master of this country is Gorud III.

I don't know if it's because of the saying that wealth can't last for more than three generations, or because of his surname, but Grid III is not as distinct as his grandfather and father, but a greedy guy. Ever since he participated in a world conference, he was deeply attracted by the Celestial Dragons' temperament of looking down on all living beings as ants and being superior.

Unfortunately, King Grid was only the master of an ordinary kingdom in the West Sea. He was far inferior to the Celestial Dragons in terms of noble rank. Since he did not have the status of a top noble, he would strive to have the life of a top noble. After returning from the World Conference, he began to renovate the palace and collected a large number of slaves, fantasizing that he was also a member of the noble Celestial Dragons.

Ever since a high wall was erected outside the palace, King Grid seldom stepped out of his palace, and lived a life of drunkenness and debauchery inside every day.

King Grid, who was devoted to enjoying himself, left all government affairs to his two sons. From then on, the nobles and ministers of the Kingdom of Grid never saw their king again. The wall kept everyone out, except for one person.

Knight Commander Alfred, dressed in bright armor, climbed the stairs, pushed open the heavy castle gate and stepped in.

The Knight Commander walked through a deep corridor and came to a hall. In the center of the hall was a gladiator arena where two strong men were fighting desperately. The ground around them was full of weapons, which the gladiators could use at will. The blood scattered from the fight had already dyed the ground red, and the whole scene was extremely bloody.

Alfred lowered his eyebrows, seemingly indifferent to everything around him. He bypassed the arena and knelt on one knee under the throne: "Great Grid III, your most loyal knight Alfred is always at your disposal."

King Grid opened his half-closed eyes and yawned loudly: "My loyal Knight Commander, I order you to supervise the tax collectors to collect taxes from all over the place. You must keep a close eye on my wealth."

After saying this, King Grid seemed to have regained some spirit. He noticed that the gladiators had not yet decided the winner, so he shouted angrily: "Who are you two performing for? It's such a boring show. If no one dies within a quarter of an hour, I will throw both of you to feed my little baby. Humph! A pariah is a pariah. How dare you treat the great King Grid perfunctorily."

Knight Commander Alfred took the order and turned to leave. He remained silent the whole time, walked around the arena and walked out of the palace. At the moment before the palace door closed, he saw through the crack in the door that one of the gladiators stabbed the other in the chest with a knife.

The next day, Alfred, wearing heavy armor and commanding a team of knight guards, set out from the palace in the tax collector's convoy.

The tax collector was a young man in his 20s. When he saw the Knight Commander of the Royal Palace, he took the initiative to greet him cordially, apparently wanting to exchange feelings with the king's close friend. However, Alfred just glanced at him, and without saying a word, he controlled his warhorse and ran to the front of the team.

"Damn Alfred, how dare he ignore me? I am the eldest prince's favorite, but you are just a warrior. I will kill you sooner or later." The tax collector's face turned red with anger and he slammed the car door.

In Bekaa town

Leo and Gloria were walking and eating with their hands full of food. It seemed that they were not here to gather intelligence, but rather like tourists. With the advantage of being a port city, Becca's commercial street was very lively, with shops on both sides of the street next to each other. Leo learned from the lesson of the first time he took Lina shopping, and this time he must not let Gloria out of his sight. In order to make her behave, he simply bought a bunch of snacks to keep her mouth shut.

Bang! Suddenly, a figure flew out from the clothing store on the street. It was a young man, who was curled up on the ground at the door of the store, holding his stomach. Then a woman hurriedly ran to the man, crying and checking his injuries.

After them, several people in flowered shirts walked out of the store. They put their hands in their pockets and walked arrogantly in front of the young man and woman, then stepped on the young man's head.

"Dear Mike, how come you can't even come up with such a small amount of protection money? You're making it very difficult for me."

The young man replied in horror, "I am very sorry, Master Jack. Please give me a few days and I will pay you back the money I owe you."

Jack sneered at first, then reached out and pinched the woman's cheek: "No problem, we are friends after all. I will give you another three days at most. If you can't pay by then, I can't say what will happen, such as selling your fiancée to a prostitute."

Young Mike tried hard to pull his head out from under Jack's feet. He protected the terrified woman behind him and immediately agreed to the other party's request. Because he knew that bargaining would end in a worse situation, young Mike would rather be beaten than let his fiancée suffer any harm.

Leo looked at the guys coldly, then whispered something in Gloria's ear.

Seeing that the other party had surrendered, Jack did not continue to embarrass them, and turned around and left with his two brothers. When passing by Leo and the other two, Gloria secretly touched the corner of his clothes with her left hand while Jack was not paying attention.

The hunting fruit has reached the conditions for activation. In Gloria's eyes, there is always a red arrow flashing above Jack's head. After doing all this, Leo and the other two stayed far behind, planning to find a place where no one is around to have a good talk with the three of them.

The flowered shirt trio patronized several more stores on the commercial street, beating people and extorting full-service extortion just like they did to Mike. Everyone avoided them along the way, and just when Leo and the other two couldn't help but take action, the opportunity came.

Jack, the leader, suddenly grabbed a pedestrian and took him to a side alley. Leo was very familiar with this scene, which was completely a trick used by street thugs. Leo and the other two quickly walked in and saw Jack and the other two surrounding the pedestrian against the wall.

The noise at the alley startled Jack. He turned around and saw two kids blocking the alley. He smiled grimly, "Where did these two little brats come from? How dare you join in the fun? Leave all the money you have and get out of here."

5 minutes later.

"Private Marseille, please forgive me, it's all my fault for offending you two." Jack and his men were beaten up and kneeled in front of Leo, begging for mercy. They were as arrogant as they were now. This group of bullies who only bully the weak and fear the strong deserved to be punished.

Leo waved at the passerby, then turned to look at Jack: "You're the fucking Jack, I've put up with you all the way."

"Yes, my elder brother is not good. We are scum or insects. I am afraid that you are dirty. We dare not dare, please let us go." Rio snorted, and he didn't hear that there were 80 old mother who had a 3 -year -old child. He was a little disappointed. It is really unhappy not to play cards.

The anger in his heart soon showed on Leo's face, and Jack was so scared that his floral shirt was soaked with sweat. Just when he was about to say something to beg for mercy, Leo spoke first.

"You answer whatever I ask. I'll kill you if you dare to talk nonsense. Now tell me your name and gang." Jack rolled his eyes and wanted to lie, but Leo directly took out the porcupine gun and pointed it at his forehead. Jack was completely convinced.

"My name is Jack, and I'm a member of the Gopher Gang. Sir, you know the Gopher Gang, we work for the Jon Family. You know the Jon Family, it's one of the five major mafias in the West Sea, and it's also the largest gang in the Gorud Kingdom, so..."

Bang! Leo shot Jack without waiting for him to finish. "You are so long-winded. You answer me. I don't want to repeat the rules of speaking for the second time. If you talk nonsense to me again, this will be your fate." Leo pointed the porcupine gun at the head of the second flowered shirt thug.

The gangster who was suddenly called out was almost scared to death, and nodded hurriedly: "We are both Jack's men. We are mainly responsible for collecting protection fees in the Gopher Gang."

Tsk! Another little jerk. Such people are more hated than pirates and mafia. Leo looked at them with an unfriendly look.

"Where is your Gopher Gang's lair?"

"It's the first one on the old street. The milk tea shop next to it tastes good. Big brother, you can try it if you go over there." The gangster was so scared that he spoke without thinking. He seemed to have forgotten the rule that he couldn't talk nonsense.

"Don't talk nonsense to me. What is your relationship with the Bay Gang?"

"It doesn't matter. We all work for the Jon family. They are just responsible for drugs and arms, and we are responsible for guarding the territory and collecting protection fees."

Then Leo asked a few more questions, but the positions of these two people were too low to provide any useful information, so Leo had to send them to reunite with the boss. The three of them lay neatly in the alley.

"Leo, what are we going to do next? Go check out that mole gang?"

"No, let's not alarm them yet. It doesn't matter if one or two of our men die, but if the entire Gopher Gang is wiped out, I'm afraid it will attract the Jon family."

Leo and the other man walked out of the alley as if nothing had happened. As soon as they came out, they saw a team of knights escorting a gorgeous carriage passing by. It seemed that some important person came to Becca to inspect.

Just as Leo was secretly trying to figure out the identity of the carriage owner, he suddenly noticed the aunt standing next to him. She looked at the convoy with disgust and kept muttering, "These vampires are here to collect taxes again. They are forcing us to death."

Oh, just when we dealt with the gangsters, here come the official people. This wave of oppression shows that the civilians in Becca are not as glamorous as they seem.
