American comic Gotham, the sheriff of Arkham

Chapter 123: Auction of Bruce Wayne

In the parking lot of the Royal Hotel, all kinds of luxury cars are like a grand exhibition.

Among these dazzling luxury cars, the gray Ferrari driven by Bruce Wayne was indeed as Alfred said, low-key and in line with his temperament.

Although he was also one of the protagonists of this party, few people noticed that Gotham's richest playboy had already arrived at the party.

However, Bruce was still a little... embarrassed. He was indeed not late, nor did he make the lady from Lars Group wait, but he was stood up...

"Miss Talia had something urgent to do, so she left first. She asked me to tell you that she is very sorry and hopes to have dinner with you next time."

The waiter politely conveyed Talia's message, and Bruce didn't know what expression to show.

Looking at the banquet venue, it seemed more like a dance salon for the upper class than a charity gala, and the charity fundraising project that followed was just a pretty show.

Since there was an exchange of ideas at the dance party, the people who came were not alone, but brought their own dance partners. A well-known band from France was playing romantic dance music in the concert hall.

The people here are all wealthy people who are well-dressed and have made great contributions. Although they are not young anymore, they have the power to spend money like water.

They are as energetic as young people, even more energetic than them. They are sitting in groups of three or four on the sofa in the corner, discussing their own money-making business in low voices.

Bruce seemed even more embarrassed here. He could only hold a glass of gin, stand by the window, and look at the night view outside.

Compared to the extravagance of wealth and luxury here, Gotham outside is also full of lights and wine. The flickering lights dotted in the bottomless darkness, bringing a different kind of temptation.

However, only Bruce knew what the scene was like in the darkness under the flickering lights.

"Aren't you going to dance? It's very unsociable for you to stand here alone, Mr. Bruce Wayne."

A man in a suit and a smile came over, holding a glass of bubbling champagne, and gestured to Bruce, "Gotham's most famous playboy, this shouldn't be the case..."

He paused and looked Bruce up and down, as if looking for the right words, "...You feel so lonely, are you heartbroken? I heard that Miss Talia from Lars Group wants to attend this charity party with you."

Bruce smiled politely and was about to explain when the man continued:

"I saw the president of the Wayne Group in the next room, chatting with Mr. Philip from the Kane family. It seemed that they were very happy that you could establish a relationship with the Lars Group."

"By the way, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Cameron Van Creel, and I'm an antique collector. Nice to meet you."

Cameron stretched out his hand with a smile on his face, and Bruce also stretched out his hand and shook it with him. The two of them parted as soon as they touched, and both kept a suitable distance so that the other party did not feel awkward or unfamiliar.

"Hello, I'm Bruce Wayne."

Bruce also introduced himself, and Cameron couldn't help laughing while holding his glass.

"There is no one in Gotham who doesn't know you, my dear young man. Why are you here alone?"

Cameron asked in a friendly tone. He originally thought that Gotham's playboys were the kind of guys who were boastful, brainless, uneducated and would make a fuss about the family's honor.

But now, Cameron has changed his mind a little. As he said, he is an antique collector, but the origin of his collection of antiques is not clear, and he cannot even talk about it openly.

However, this did not prevent him from attending such high-society parties as a collector. If it were an empty occasion, he would not care about his identity as an antique thief.

Bruce's eyes were a little evasive, and there was a hint of complaint in his voice.

"Miss Talia was unable to attend the banquet due to an emergency. I feel like I'm a little early. Perhaps my appearance at the final charity donation ceremony will be just the right time."

"Oh my god, are you really a playboy? I feel like those third-rate tabloids are slandering a pure playboy."

Cameron's words made Bruce suddenly feel that there was indeed something wrong with his current personality.

After all, in the eyes of Gotham people, he is a wealthy second-generation and he changes beauties every day.

This was also thanks to the dinners that Alfred arranged for him, and the small tasks that suddenly appeared...

Bruce didn't even know where Alfred's intelligence network came from, but whenever he had time, he would find a way to arrange a necessary meeting for him.

Although there are no rumors about his ex-girlfriend or girlfriend so far, from the simple perspective of Gotham citizens, this kind of chance encounter and one-night stand is a story that cannot be ignored.

He is simply the God who feeds those third-rate tabloids!

And for those pretty ladies, having dated Bruce Wayne is something they have to brag about.

Seeing the shyness and embarrassment that flashed across Bruce's face, Cameron tactfully changed the subject.

"Charity gala? Bruce, can I call you that?"

"Of course, I'd love to, Cameron."

Bruce smiled generously, and Cameron nodded, "Are you going to attend the fundraiser, too?"

"Yes, I want to send some winter aid to the currently unprotected citizens of Gotham, perhaps clothing, food, or various kinds of help, but... with my own strength."

Bruce shook his head. Even though he was the richest bachelor in Gotham, he couldn't handle these things on the spur of the moment.

Perhaps Alfred asked him to come here just to make him understand this truth.

But Bruce felt that there was a great possibility that Talia was a lady that Alfred recognized, so she used this as an excuse to push him here.

"You are such a kind person. The glory of the Wayne family shines brightly on you. However, if you need some funds, I have a small suggestion."

Cameron said with a smile on his face, and his words made Bruce Wayne a little curious.

"What advice?"

"Do you mind accompanying a kind lady for dinner tonight? We have French food for dinner today, and the theme of the banquet is French romance. However, I prefer the grandeur of the Palace of Versailles rather than these desserts."

Bruce blinked, a little confused, or rather, he thought of something but was not sure.

"Since you are silent, then it is confirmed. I will auction off your female companion seat tonight. Let those kind-hearted young ladies add a bit of warmth to the winter of the citizens of Gotham."

After Cameron finished speaking, regardless of Bruce's reaction, he pulled his hand and walked towards the dance hall outside. Bruce did not refuse, he even thought it was a little fun.

After taking off his heavy equipment and no longer covering his face, he still has a little bit of childishness.

"Everyone! Distinguished gentlemen, ladies, and those ladies who are not accompanied by male companions today!"

Cameron's voice drowned out the complicated and ingenious music in the dance hall, attracting everyone's attention.

Cameron dragged Bruce onto the stage where the band was playing, took the microphone and shouted:

"The richest bachelor in Gotham came to the dance alone today. When I found him, he was standing in front of the window, feeling sad because he didn't have a beautiful female companion."

"At the same time, he is also a kind gentleman. Bruce Wayne wants to provide assistance to the citizens of Gotham who are spending the winter in the cold. So... adding the two together, our first auction item tonight is this handsome guy's... dating rights!"

"Ladies, look, this is Bruce Wayne. Take out your own pocket money to add some warmth to the cold winter in Gotham. The starting price is $100, and there is no upper limit!"

Cameron raised his hand and knocked hard in front of the podium where the band conductor was standing, and then he finished speaking.

The ballroom was silent for about three seconds, and Bruce was almost sweating from embarrassment. But the next second, the ballroom was filled with the cheers of those ladies from famous families.

Bruce Wayne stood there, with his figure comparable to the golden section line, handsome face, and aristocratic air of upbringing and etiquette. He was simply their dream lover, the Prince Charming!

"Five hundred dollars!"

"I'll give you a thousand!"

"Three thousand!"

Those beautiful ladies and young ladies from wealthy families, at this moment, waved the money in their hands like crazy fans chasing stars.

The bustling atmosphere was even more fanatical than that of the capitalists known as the Wolves of Wall Street. Even the rich people next door were alarmed by the sound of crazy price increases.

"Never underestimate these women. You see, your influence is huge." Cameron raised an eyebrow at Bruce. "The citizens of Gotham will thank you for what you have done tonight."

Bruce just kept laughing. He didn't know what to say, but... at least his aid plan could be launched.
