Chapter 216 Behind the Wardrobe

Uncle Zhang shook Wang Qiang's hand gratefully, "Qiangzi, thank you so much."

Wang Qiang smiled and waved his hands, "It's just a small matter. We are all neighbors, and we should help each other."

Life in the courtyard is always so lively and warm, Wang Qiang and Liu Yan have spent many wonderful times here. Their feelings gradually warmed up in this humane place, and every day was filled with laughter and surprises.

One day, Wang Qiang was about to go out to work when Aunt Li suddenly ran over in a hurry, "Qiangzi, something bad has happened to Liu Yan!"

Wang Qiang's heart tightened, and he didn't bother to ask more questions, and ran after Aunt Li. It turned out that Liu Yan met a group of naughty children in the alley outside the yard, and they accidentally knocked her down, causing her ankle to sprain. Wang Qiang helped Liu Yan up with heartache and carefully sent her home.

"Why are you so careless?" Wang Qiang scolded, his tone full of concern.

Liu Yan smiled and shook her head. "It's okay. He's just a kid. Don't worry too much."

Wang Qiang carefully treated her wound. Liu Yan looked at him gratefully, "Qiangzi, you are so kind."

Wang Qiang stroked her hair gently, "You are the most important person to me, so of course I have to take good care of you."

As the days passed, Wang Qiang and Liu Yan's feelings grew stronger. The courtyard became more warm and harmonious because of their presence. Whenever night fell, Wang Qiang and Liu Yan sat on a bench in the yard, listening to the sound of the wind blowing through the leaves, looking at the starry night sky, feeling each other's warmth, and life seemed to have never been so beautiful.

One sunny morning, when Wang Qiang woke up, the birds outside the window were singing happily. He stretched himself and felt a long-lost sense of relaxation and satisfaction. However, when he was about to put on his socks, he found that they were missing. He searched the bedside table, under the bed, and in the closet, but the beloved blue socks seemed to have evaporated.

"How could it be gone?" Wang Qiang frowned, feeling somewhat puzzled. He tried to recall what happened last night, but he could not remember where he had put the socks. Wang Qiang could not help but feel a little annoyed, because this was a gift from Liu Yan, which she knitted for him on their first Valentine's Day together.

At this moment, Liu Yan walked into the room and saw Wang Qiang searching the floor. She smiled and asked, "What are you looking for?"

Wang Qiang looked up and said helplessly, "My blue socks are gone, did you see them?"

Liu Yan raised her eyebrows, "Didn't you put it on the bedside table yesterday?"

"But now it's gone. I've looked everywhere for it." Wang Qiang sighed, feeling a little annoyed. He didn't want to let a pair of socks affect his mood, but the socks had a special meaning to him.

Liu Yan walked over to the bedside table and started looking. She carefully searched every drawer, but the result was also disappointing. She gently patted Wang Qiang on the shoulder and comforted him, "Don't worry, it may have fallen somewhere. Let's look carefully again."

Wang Qiang nodded, but a complex emotion surged in his heart. He was puzzled by the disappearance of the socks, and was surprised that he cared so much about a pair of socks. As he searched, he couldn't help but recall that happy time. It was a cold winter night, and when Liu Yan gave him the pair of socks, he felt her full of love and care. Every time he put on the socks, he seemed to feel her warmth.

They continued to search, almost turning over the entire room, but still couldn't find the pair of socks. Wang Qiang sat on the bed in frustration, thinking, "Did I really remember it wrong, or did I lose it by accident?"

Seeing this, Liu Yan gently held his hand and said softly, "Qiangzi, don't take it too seriously. It's just a pair of socks. We can buy new ones."

Wang Qiang shook his head and smiled bitterly, "Yanzi, this pair of socks is very important to me. You knitted them yourself. I don't want to give up so easily."

Liu Yan looked at him distressedly, her heart filled with helplessness and regret. She knew Wang Qiang was a sentimental person, and this pair of socks carried their beautiful memories, and she didn't want to lose them just like that.

"Let's go look in the yard again. Maybe it fell outside." Liu Yan suggested.

Wang Qiang nodded, and the two of them walked out of the room and began to search every corner of the courtyard. They carefully checked every floor tile, every flower bed, and even the small bushes in the yard.

Seeing how seriously they were searching, the neighbors came forward to ask about the situation. When they learned that Wang Qiang was looking for a pair of blue socks, they were a little surprised, but they still joined the search enthusiastically.

"Xiao Zhang, do you see a pair of blue socks?" Wang Qiang asked.

Xiao Zhang shook his head. "No, Brother Qiang. But don't worry, we will help you find it."

With everyone's help, the courtyard was filled with a lively atmosphere. Although the matter of finding socks sounds a bit absurd, the mutual help between neighbors made Wang Qiang feel a little warm in his heart. He began to realize that maybe the loss of socks was not a bad thing, it made him cherish the people and things in front of him more.

After some efforts, they still couldn't find the pair of socks. Wang Qiang was a little disappointed, but seeing the concern of Liu Yan and the neighbors, his irritability gradually subsided. He took a deep breath and decided not to worry about a pair of socks anymore.

"Thank you for your help," Wang Qiang said to his neighbors. "Although I didn't find it, I appreciate your enthusiasm."

Everyone said you're welcome and encouraged him not to take it too seriously. Liu Yan took Wang Qiang's arm and said to him with a smile, "Qiangzi, whether we have that pair of socks or not, our lives will go on. What's important is that we are together."

Wang Qiang nodded, feeling relieved. He decided to let go of his obsession with socks and cherish every moment. The two walked side by side on the small path in the courtyard, the afterglow of the setting sun shining on them, as if witnessing their happiness.

Just as they were about to go back to their room, Aunt Li suddenly ran over, holding a pair of blue socks in her hands, and shouted excitedly, "Qiangzi, Yanzi, look, are these the socks you are looking for?"

Wang Qiang and Liu Yan came forward in surprise and took a closer look. It was indeed the pair of blue socks! Wang Qiang excitedly took the socks and said to Aunt Li gratefully, "Aunt, where did you find them?"

Aunt Li laughed so hard that she couldn't stop. "It was behind my closet. I don't know how it got there."

Wang Qiang and Liu Yan smiled at each other, their hearts filled with gratitude and joy.
