Hogwarts: The Wizarding World's First Capitalist

Chapter 147 Sorrow in the Basement

In the corridor of the basement of Hogwarts Castle.

Professor Snape led a group of people and walked slowly towards a classroom. The corridor was extremely dark.

There were only a few torches hanging on the walls on both sides, and the dim light added to the damp and dark environment.

The leader of the group felt a little scared, and he looked up at Professor Snape's back.

I wanted to open my mouth several times, but couldn't say a word. To be honest, compared to the surrounding environment.

The man in front of him made him even more scared. He was afraid that the man would suddenly transform into a vampire and bite him to death.

It was not until he reached the door of the classroom that Cornelius Fudge spoke slowly.

"Severus, where is Headmaster Dumbledore? If he is not available, we can ask Professor McGonagall to bring us here."

"You must have a lot of work to do, so I won't bother you with the rest."

He was really a little scared. Professor Snape changed his usual suit into his huge wizard robe today.

The pitch-black color is like a gloomy night, coupled with the eyes like a night owl, it really puts too much pressure on people.

If I hadn't known before coming here, the two Aurors lying inside died at the hands of Voldemort.

The other Aurors behind Fudge might have already taken out their wands to arrest him, after all, it was obvious from the way he was dressed that he was not a good person.

"Headmaster Dumbledore has been missing for several days, and so has Professor Lockhart, the History of Magic professor."

"Professor McGonagall is discussing business with Mr. Hohenzollern, so please, Minister, bear with me for a while."

Professor Snape calmly pushed open the door of the classroom, his entire face hidden in the darkness of the light.

The voice was like a night ghost, and Fudge's hair stood on end when he heard it. However, compared to Professor Snape's appearance.

What the other person had just said made him even more worried. He stood at the door of the classroom in a daze for a long time before he looked up and spoke slowly.

"What did you say? Headmaster Dumbledore is not at Hogwarts, and a professor is missing. Is Hogwarts going to close down?"

"And Professor McGonagall, what business does he have with a student."

"I never noticed that you were so concerned about Headmaster Dumbledore. I heard about the debate about the headmaster's reputation."

"You also provided a lot of help secretly, didn't you?"

Professor Snape spoke in a dark voice, slowly revealing half of his face which was hidden in the darkness.

As the light flickered, the half of the face that was revealed was even more terrifying than when it was hidden.

Fudge was too afraid to look directly at Professor Snape at this point and could only mutter in a low voice.

"You misunderstood. I have always cared about Headmaster Dumbledore. Regarding that debate, I have always stood firmly on the side of Headmaster Dumbledore."

"It's just that Hogwarts doesn't have the protection of Headmaster Dumbledore, and given the current situation, I'm really worried."

"If necessary, the Ministry of Magic can send Aurors to the school."

"No need!" Professor Snape ignored the other party and walked into the classroom alone, gently waving his hand to light the candles around him.

Then a man stood between the two bodies covered with white cloth and said with disdain.

"The two corpses behind me have already demonstrated one fact: your Ministry of Magic is incapable of protecting Hogwarts."

A gloomy and terrifying morgue, two cold corpses, and a stern-looking wizard in a black robe.

Such a combination already creates an extraordinary sense of oppression just by standing there.

Fudge no longer had his usual domineering attitude at this moment. He could only remain silent and acquiesce to what Professor Snape had just said.

He walked slowly into the classroom with the Auror protecting him.

He walked heavily to the two bodies and was just about to take a deep breath to calm the tension he had been feeling along the way.

But before he could even breathe, Professor Snape tore off the white cloth covering the corpse.

When Fudge took a deep breath and lowered his head, his eyes were fixed directly on Jonathan's face that was open to death.

"what!!!!!"

A sharp explosion sounded in the classroom. Fudge stepped back in fear, holding his chest with one hand, and leaning against the wall, gasping for breath.

It's really not his fault that he was timid; Jonathan's death was simply too horrific.

The entire scalp looked like it had been torn off by someone, and his face was covered in blood, although his facial features were not too distorted.

But those bulging eyeballs seemed to be staring at him just now.

Fudge took out a handkerchief from his pocket and kept wiping the cold sweat from his forehead.

At the same time, he turned his head away, not daring to look over there again, and could only speak softly to the old man next to him.

"Mr. Crouch, he was your subordinate after all, and you are also an experienced old Auror. Now let's take on the next task."

"I'll leave it to you. Please forgive me if I feel a little uncomfortable."

Old Crouch glanced at the other party with disdain, then walked slowly and heavily from the back of the team to the side of the corpse.

After observing it carefully, he said with some sadness.

"Poor boy, he must have suffered a lot in his life, but that's why."

“It also shows that they must have fought bravely. They are true heroes.”

As he spoke, Old Crouch looked up at Professor Snape again and said calmly.

"As for the other one, we also have their wands. We need to recover their wands and perform simple tests to preserve the files."

Professor Snape glanced at old Crouch without saying a word, and calmly tore off the white cloth from the other corpse.

When the corpse appeared, all the Aurors present couldn't help but gasp.

Tom's body was covered with dark bruises, which could be seen from the depressions and bulges on his skin.

He had suffered inhuman abuse before his death, and every joint and bone in his body seemed to be broken alive.

Seeing this, no matter how much they hated this unsociable guy before, all the Aurors present were now...

There is only deep admiration and respect for this deceased hero.

"You are right. He is indeed a brave man. I must admit that."

Professor Snape, holding two wands, slowly walked in front of everyone.

After handing the wand to old Crouch, he pointed at Tom's right hand.

"Look, this is the danger signal transmitter you are issued, based on my judgment of the human body structure."

"And some simple pre-mortem speculation, this guy's arm bones were almost completely shattered in the last moments of his life."

"I don't know what they relied on to launch this flare. I have to admit that I was a little surprised."

Hearing this, everyone turned their eyes to Tom's right hand, only to see that the flare was still tightly held in the broken palm.

Old Crouch slowly walked to the other person's side, gently placed the other person's wand on the chest of the corpse, and said sadly while pressing the wand with his hand.

"I'm sorry kid, I'm really sorry."

That was all he could say, and he could only shed tears. The other Aurors also couldn't help but have tears in their eyes when they saw this scene.

Only Fudge spoke impatiently behind his back.

"Now that the inspection is complete, there's no need for us to stay here. Let's get out now."
