Hogwarts in the shadows
Chapter 67: Being tricked by the White Devil
As soon as he entered the office, Snape pushed Hephes against the wall.
His eyes were fixed on Hephes.
Snape's facial muscles twitched slightly, as if he was trying hard to suppress his inner anger.
One of his hands tightly grasped Hephis's collar, while the other hand was firmly supported on the wall.
The distance between their faces was less than twenty centimeters.
"Um... Professor Snape, I..." Hephis felt a little embarrassed.
This posture is a bit...how to put it?
Very English.
"Hephis Dam, did I ever remind you to stay away from Quirrell?" Snape's voice was cold.
But Hephis could hear the anger contained in it.
"Well...I was wrong." Hephis admitted his mistake directly.
Snape choked, and the air seemed to stagnate.
"Professor, actually... I just..." Hephis was a little speechless.
Snape is not as easy to fool as Hermione, and his reasons don't seem to be appropriate.
"You have seen that... mysterious man." Snape suddenly calmed down and said lightly.
"Well, he possessed the back of Quirrell's head." Hephis nodded and answered honestly.
Snape was silent for a moment. "So he is indeed not dead, but waiting to be resurrected."
"Yes, according to his own statement, he is now only a shadow and vapor." Hephis added.
"Is he really unkillable?" A trace of hatred flashed in Snape's eyes.
"There is no way to be completely immortal in this world. It's just that it hasn't been found yet." Hephes said comfortingly.
"You should have been sorted into Gryffindor, as a brainless and impulsive lion." Snape started his daily sarcasm mode.
"No, I am yours in life and in death..."
"Shut up." Snape interrupted Hephaestus directly. He paused and said in a deep voice: "Return the Philosopher's Stone to Dumbledore as soon as possible."
Hephis nodded, "I will go to see the principal before leaving school."
Hefeth began to take things out of his small bag.
He first took out the bottle containing the Philosopher's Stone, and then took out a bottle filled with bright red liquid.
Hephesus showed these items to Snape as if he were presenting treasures.
Snape did not reach out for the bottle containing the Philosopher's Stone, but only took the bottle of "Eternal Water".
He finally released his grip on Hephis and walked back to his desk.
Hephis couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief when he saw Snape leave. To be honest, this posture was really awkward.
He could even see every pore on Snape's face clearly.
"Hephis, don't underestimate Dumbledore. He is not..." Snape suddenly stopped and hesitated to speak.
"As for the White Devil, I know... uh..." Hephis blurted out what was in his mind.
"White Lord? It's a good name. Just know it and be careful." Upon hearing this, a complex emotion flashed in Snape's eyes.
"Okay, Professor."
"Get out of here now, keep an eye on your girlfriend and keep her away from 'Potter'." Snape couldn't help but remind him.
"Uh... okay, Professor." Hephis certainly understood what Snape meant.
But Hermione and Harry were not a couple.
If Ron dared to stretch out his claws, he would break his third leg.
The school hall was decorated in green and silver, and Slytherin had won the House Cup for the seventh year.
On the wall behind the guest of honor seats, a huge banner was hung high with a picture of a snake representing Slytherin.
Hephis sat obediently at the Slytherin table.
He had returned the Philosopher's Stone to Dumbledore that morning.
Dumbledore also generously gave Hephaestus a copy of his own Transfiguration manual.
Tomorrow school will be out and the first year will be completely over.
Harry also made it to the dinner at the last minute.
Everyone put down their cutlery and listened attentively to Dumbledore's speech.
Dumbledore stood up slowly.
"Another year has passed!" His eyes sparkled with kindness. "Before everyone enjoys this sumptuous dinner, please allow me, an old man, to say a few more words."
Then Dumbledore began to babble.
"Now we are going to have the awards ceremony for the House Cup. The scores for each house are as follows: Fourth place, Hufflepuff, 352 points; third place, Gryffindor, 362 points; Ravenclaw, 426 points, Slytherin, 522 points."
As soon as he finished speaking, deafening cheers broke out from the Slytherin table.
Draco waved the wine glass in his hand excitedly and slammed it on the table.
Hephis glanced at Snape and found him quite reliable.
"The Slytherins have done a good job," Dumbledore said, changing the subject, "but there are still some things that need to be taken into account."
"First, Mr. Ron Weasley, who won the most exciting game of chess that Hogwarts has seen in many years. For this, I have decided to award Gryffindor House fifty points."
The little lions immediately cheered, and applause and cheers rang out one after another.
"The second one - Miss Hermione Granger, she used her extraordinary wisdom to help her friends pass multiple levels. Gryffindor House will get another 50 points." Dumbledore raised his voice.
Hephis saw that Hermione had blushed and quickly buried her head in her arms.
"The third one - Harry Potter, he showed extraordinary courage and firm belief. For this, Gryffindor House will add another 60 points." Dumbledore announced.
There was silence in the auditorium at first, and then there was an even louder cheer.
Gryffindor's score was now equal to Slytherin's.
Dumbledore raised a hand, and the noise in the hall gradually subsided, and everyone looked at him nervously.
"Courage comes in many forms," Dumbledore said with a smile, "and it takes great courage to stand up for one's friends. Therefore, I want to give Mr. Neville Longbottom a special reward."
Cheers from the Gryffindor table rang out again, one wave louder than the other.
Neville's face turned pale. He had never scored any points for Gryffindor.
Just when everyone thought the bonus points were over, Dumbledore raised his hand again.
"The last item -" Dumbledore's voice echoed in the hall, "Mr. Hephis Dumm, he defeated the enemy with extraordinary wisdom and courage. Therefore, I decide to reward Slytherin House with 100 points."
The little lions immediately looked miserable, while the little snakes stood up excitedly and cheered loudly, and the auditorium seemed like it was about to explode.
Hephis didn't move, he looked up at Snape.
Snape was looking at him too, and the meaning was obvious.
Hephaestus was tricked by Dumbledore.
