Rocot: Reborn

Chapter 316

The hooded man moved silently, like a ghost blending into the night. The square was bustling with people, who were excitedly discussing the latest technology products and looking forward to the upcoming "Light of the Future" performance. But in the ears of the hooded man, this noise was like the buzzing of ants, insignificant.

"Foolish..." He laughed softly, his voice hoarse and harsh like the friction of metal.

He raised his right hand and lightly touched a black metal ring on his wrist with his fingertips. The metal ring emitted a barely perceptible glow. In an instant, the lights in the entire square began to flicker, and several confused exclamations were heard from the crowd.

"What's going on? Signal failure?"

"Don't worry, it might be a problem with the equipment, it will be fine soon..."

However, the expected recovery did not occur. The lights flickered more and more violently, and the image on the projection screen twisted and jumped, finally freezing on a weird smiling face. That smile was twisted and crazy, with creepy malice, like the grin of a devil from the depths of hell, striking at the deepest fear in people's hearts.

The crowd began to riot and panic spread like a plague.

"Ah! What the hell is that!?"

"Quiet! Don't make trouble!" the guards maintaining order shouted loudly, but their voices were quickly drowned out by the growing waves of panic.

The hooded man looked at the chaotic scene in front of him, the corners of his mouth curled up further, revealing a hint of cold sneer.

"Fear...what a beautiful melody..." he murmured softly, with a hint of intoxication in his voice.

Suddenly, a harsh voice sounded from the stage in the center of the square:

"Everyone, I'm sorry to interrupt you, but now, please focus your attention on me."

The lights went out and the square fell into darkness. Only a spotlight shone down on the stage, illuminating a figure in a black windbreaker.

"Lokold!" Renault squeezed out of the crowd, staring at the figure on the stage with gritted teeth, his fists clenched, and his eyes seemed to be burning with rage.

Rocot! The crowd cried out in surprise. This name, in today's empire, is almost synonymous with "terror".

"Long time no see, Chief Renault." Roccod took off his hood, revealing a handsome and cold face. He looked around with a playful look in his eyes. "Why? Aren't you surprised to see me?"

"You lunatic! What on earth do you want to do!" Renault roared.

"What for?" Roccod chuckled, his tone full of sarcasm, "Of course I'm here to give you a 'big gift'..."

He raised his hand and pointed into the air. Only then did people notice that the huge projection screen that was originally suspended above the stage had now turned into a huge black vortex, emitting heart-pounding energy fluctuations.

"This is..." Renault's pupils suddenly shrank, and an ominous premonition came to his mind.

"As you can see, this is the final result of the 'Shadow Project' - the 'Mind Control Device'!" Roccod's voice was cold and high-pitched, with a kind of crazy pleasure, "From today on, your thoughts and your will will be controlled by me! The entire empire will surrender to me!"

"Madman! You'll never succeed!" Renault roared and pulled out his pistol, but before he could pull the trigger, an invisible force field slammed him away.

Rocot looked at Renault, who was lying on the ground groaning in pain. There was no mercy in his eyes, only cold mockery.

"Now, let this grand performance officially begin..."

He suddenly stretched his hand into the air, and a black vortex spun wildly, and an invisible wave instantly swept across the entire square...

"what!"

"My head..."

"help me……"

Screams broke out from the crowd. People covered their heads in pain, with expressions of struggle and fear on their faces, as if they were suffering unbearable torture.

Rocot stood in the center of the stage, bathed in black light, a morbid fanaticism on his face, like a devil from the depths of hell, enjoying the pleasure brought by chaos and despair.

Suddenly, he frowned, as if he had noticed something, and turned his head abruptly to look in a certain direction in the crowd.

There, a figure in a black cloak was standing quietly in the crowd. The shadow under the hood made it impossible to see his expression.

"Interesting, it seems that there are still guys who are not afraid of death..." Roccod licked his lips, a bloodthirsty light flashed in his eyes, "Let me see who you are..."

As soon as Rocot finished speaking, the crowd in the square automatically parted as if being manipulated by an invisible giant hand, revealing a path leading directly to where the man in black was.

Fear spread among the crowd, and people looked at the figure in horror, as if it was an evil ghost crawling out of the abyss, dragging them into endless darkness.

The man in black slowly raised his head and his hood slipped off, revealing a young face. It was a face somewhat similar to Rocot's, but compared to Rocot's sinister look, this face seemed unusually calm. In his deep eyes, there was no trace of fear, only a cold chill.

"Long time no see, brother." The man in black said softly, his voice was low and hoarse, but it was clearly heard throughout the square.

"Brother?" Rocot was stunned for a moment, then seemed to remember something, his face suddenly became extremely gloomy, "You are... Roxelle?!"

"It seems that you still remember me." Roxelles smiled faintly, with a cold arc at the corner of his mouth. "I thought you had forgotten me."

"How could it be possible!" Rocot gnashed his teeth and said, "You betrayer! How could I forget you!"

"Betrayal?" Rothschild's eyes flashed with sarcasm. "How dare you say that? Who sacrificed his own brother to gain power? Who dragged the whole world into war to satisfy his own ambition?"

“Shut up!” Rocot roared, “What qualifications do you have to blame me! Everything I did was for our Shadow Kingdom! For the honor of our family!”

"Glory?" Rothschild sneered, "Is your glory built on the suffering of countless people? Your ambition has pushed our family and the entire world to the brink of destruction!"

"Enough!" Roccod raised his hand suddenly, and the black energy gathered in his hand, forming a huge energy ball. "Today, I will let you see what real power is!"

The energy ball whizzed towards Rothschild, and wherever it passed, the space seemed to be torn apart.

Facing this devastating blow, Roxelles seemed extremely calm. He slowly raised his hand, and a dazzling golden light appeared on his palm.

"The power of light?!" Rokod's face changed, and a trace of fear finally appeared in his eyes, "How could you possibly possess the power of light!"

"Light and darkness are two sides of the same coin." Rothschild said calmly, "You chose to sink into darkness, and I chose light."

The golden light faced the black energy ball, and the two collided with each other, causing a deafening roar. The entire square was shrouded in violent energy fluctuations.

The light faded, and Roxelles was still standing there, unharmed, but Rocot was pale, with a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth.

"Impossible... This is impossible..." Roccod shook his head in disbelief, "My power... How could it be..."

"Your power comes from darkness." Rothschild said calmly, "and darkness will eventually be dispelled by light."

Rocot wanted to say something, but his face suddenly changed, he spurted out a mouthful of blood, and his body was shaking.

"Brother!" An anxious voice sounded in the crowd. A beautiful woman in a white dress broke through the crowd regardless of everything, ran to Locot and supported his body.

"Alia..." Roccod looked at the woman in front of him, a complicated look flashing in his eyes.

"Brother, how are you?" Alia asked anxiously, her eyes full of worry.

"I'm fine..." Rocot shook his head and turned his gaze to Roxelles, with a hint of resentment in his eyes, "Roxelles, just wait, I will definitely settle this account with you!"

After saying that, he grabbed Alia, and his figure turned into a black shadow and disappeared on the spot.

Roxelles looked at the direction they were leaving, with a complicated look in his eyes. He knew that this was just the beginning, and the road ahead was still long...
