Tomb Raider: The Fox's Ways to Seducing the Kirin

Chapter 58 Strange things in the village

Cheng Ji and the other man followed the blue-robed Tibetan out of the bronze gate and headed north to a small local village.

The village was unusually deserted, with every house's door tightly closed, as if they were hiding from something.

The blue-robed Tibetan took the two men around in the alleys of the village and finally stopped in front of a seemingly ordinary house.

"This is where the chief of our Khamba tribe lives. Be careful not to step on this white line." The Tibetan in blue robe pointed to the white silk line on the threshold and introduced it to the two.

Cheng Ji raised his eyebrows and stepped over the white line in confusion.

It seems that this village is not peaceful. He actually encounters this kind of tricks to guard against resentment and ghosts in this world.

Several people crossed the white line and walked into the house, and an old man who was also wearing blue Tibetan clothes came out to greet them.

Seeing these two unfamiliar faces, he cast a puzzled look at Dan, the Tibetan man in a blue robe standing nearby.

After Dan bowed to the clan leader, he whispered to him about the circumstances and events surrounding the King of Hell riding on a corpse behind the bronze door.

After hearing this, the chief of the Kangba tribe looked at the boy in front of him who looked only eighteen or nineteen years old with some shock. He raised his hand and stroked his beard and said, "This distinguished guest has come from afar. I am sorry for not welcoming you in person. Could you tell me what kind of technique you used? After all, this is the first time I have heard of this ability, and I am inevitably a little curious."

Cheng Ji did not answer the old man's question immediately, but asked about the white thread at the door: "Patriarch, can you tell me why there is a white thread across the door?"

The chief of the Kangba tribe frowned, thinking that one was the current chief of the Zhang family and the other possessed some special skills, so they might have ways to deal with it. So he slowly told the two about the recent strange things.

"This has to start with a strange thing that happened in the village a while ago. Our Kangba tribe has lived in this village for thousands of years. In order to protect the bronze door in the snow-capped mountains and cover up the secrets that the Zhang family has wanted to protect for generations, our ancestors created a monster similar to the King of Ten Thousand Slaves inside the bronze door in order to lure all those who seek immortality into the bronze door here."

"Lure them in and let the monster inside the bronze door kill them to hide the real secret. But the price of this mission is that we need to regularly sacrifice a woman with the blood of the King of Hell so that the monster inside the bronze door can be safely guarded inside the bronze door. This is also why the monster maintains a strong bloodthirstiness."

"But the monster's appetite is getting bigger and bigger. At the beginning, it sacrificed one woman every hundred years, but now it sacrifices one every twenty to thirty years. In addition, our control over the monster is getting weaker and weaker. Basically, we have almost lost all control over the monster now."

"The woman who was sacrificed a while ago was the daughter of an elder of our Kangba tribe. The child was extremely reluctant, but had no other choice. The strange things started from that time. The day after the sacrifice, a woman in red would crawl into every household in the village at midnight, leaving red bloodstains in the yard."

"Everyone in the village said that the kid was here to take our lives. We tried peach wood and black dog blood, but nothing worked. A respected elder in the village thought of an ancient way to deal with this and told us to tie a white silk thread at the door of every household. Only after the silk thread was tied up did the kid stop and the villagers finally breathed a sigh of relief."

Cheng Ji listened to the whole thing with a frown on his face, then leaned his head against Zhang Qiling, a hint of smile flashing in his eyes. He said, "Brother, what do you think? Is it because that girl was sacrificed and is dissatisfied that she comes to the village every day to claim her life?"

The young man suddenly came closer, so close that Zhang Qiling could even hear his breathing clearly.

Zhang Qiling was afraid that the boy would fall, so he reached out to hold the boy's waist. There was a hint of indulgence in his eyes, but what he said was completely different: "Stand still, don't move."

The young man didn't care, still sticking to the god with a smile: "Brother, answer me first, if you guess correctly, I will stand still."

"No." Zhang Qiling thought for a moment and spoke.

The young man was not surprised to hear Zhang Qiling's answer, and praised him immediately: "Brother, you are so smart, I don't think so either."

Zhang Qiling completely ignored the boy's flirting, straightened him up, smoothed out the wrinkles that had formed due to his moving around, and covered the small section of his white waist that had just been exposed.

The boy let the god do whatever he wanted without any resistance.

Dan, the Tibetan in blue robe, felt that the way these two people got along with each other was weird no matter how he looked at it.

Dan, who couldn't stand this atmosphere any more, said, "Did you find anything? Tell me about it."

Although amusing the gods is certainly pleasant, business is more important. Cheng Ji bent down and squatted.

He pulled off the white thread, still smiling: "If you want to know why, that's easy to tell. Come in and ask, and you'll know."

The moment the white line was pulled down, the smell of blood suddenly filled the surroundings, and a woman in red with broken hands and feet slowly crawled in from outside the door. Because of her broken limbs, her body was a little unstable, and her head hit the threshold heavily, but it did not stop her from coming in.

Everyone present except Cheng Ji and Zhang Qiling changed their expressions.

The woman in red struggled to raise her head, and sure enough, it was the elder’s daughter!

Although Cheng Ji didn't know the elder, he was familiar with the female ghost in front of him. She was the one who showed him the way some time ago.

Seeing that several people from the Kangba tribe were on high alert, Cheng Ji raised his eyebrows. Now they know they are scared, what were they doing before?

"I'm asking you, you just need to nod or shake your head, do you understand?" Cheng Ji didn't care whether other people's expressions changed, and spoke to the girl on the ground.

"They're talking about crawling into every house's yard, but you?"

The female ghost in red nodded.

The boy then asked, "Are you here to take their lives? Yes or no?"

The female ghost in red shook her head and looked at the village chief with bloodshot eyes, as if she wanted to say something, but she couldn't open her mouth and had no other choice.

"Are you trying to protect them?"

The female ghost in red hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded.

But just as he nodded, he was interrupted by the Kangbalo young man standing beside him: "She is lying, who else could it be but her? She is lying! It is obvious that she wants to kill us!"

Cheng Ji took Zhang Qiling's hand and turned it over and over in the light, sneered without raising his head, "What's the value of your life? Is it worth her spending such a huge price to take it? She spent half a month dissipating almost all of her soul power just to protect you ignorant things."

"Why, do you want to know why? It's because you smart people have made the King of Hell so fat that it is no longer something you can control, understand? It is not satisfied with the small amount of food you offer it, so it comes to your village to eat by itself."

"But this beautiful sister who was abandoned by you used up all her soul power to block the night attack of the King of Hell. However, her soul power is limited after all. She was afraid that the King of Hell would come back, so she had to use herself as a trap to make you mistakenly think that she came to take your life, and then you had to defend yourself strictly."

After hearing Cheng Ji's retelling, the young man still looked unconvinced: "Why do you say that? You guessed it yourself, didn't you?"

Cheng Ji put down Zhang Qiling's hand, sneered and looked up, his eyes full of coldness: "How should I know? Half a month ago, this sister's soul power was still good. When I went to ask for directions, she was so scared of the King of Hell riding a corpse that she didn't even dare to take one more step. Now, she only has this little bit of consciousness left, and her soul will be gone in a while."

"Do you regret it? Do you regret saving those guys who pushed you into the fire pit?" The young man looked at the female ghost in red steadily.

The female ghost was stunned for a moment, as if no one had cared about her for a long time. She was a little dazed for a moment, but it was only for a moment, then she grinned and shook her head in relief.

Then the ghost girl's soul became fainter and fainter until it disappeared between heaven and earth, as if it had never existed.
