Tsunade, you're really drunk!

Chapter 33 Dispute between Master and Disciple

"The Uchiha's movements?"

Jiraiya didn't react for a moment after hearing what Sarutobi Hiruzen said.

What else is there to find out? I heard a lot while walking around the streets in the afternoon, plus the information told by the izakaya owner.

In the past two months, not only has the Uchiha clan changed their previous demeanor, from being hated by everyone and everyone in the village fearing and hating them, to now there are countless people in the village wanting to get closer to the Uchiha clan members.

Even many young people use the current Uchiha as the standard for finding a partner.

Jiraiya found it unbelievable at first, but after learning more about it, he discovered that although the Uchiha people were a little cold towards strangers, once they got along with each other, they were willing to treat each other sincerely.

If they are in a romantic relationship, it would be enviable in the eyes of others. Uchiha men and women are all outstanding in appearance, and they are loyal to the other party in the relationship and do not need the other half to care about them at all. I am afraid that such passionate love will make it difficult for the other party to accept it.

The most important point is that the Uchiha clan is the bloodline of the Sharingan! Unlike the Hyuga clan, they do not allow intermarriage with outsiders easily. Regardless of gender, as long as the other half is from the Uchiha clan, they can get married and join the Uchiha clan.

As long as the children show talent as ninjas in the future, the family will spend money and effort to train them.

What's more, almost all members of the Uchiha clan, whether they are ninjas or civilians, can achieve success in their respective fields. As is well known in the ninja field, the Sharingan is the best proof of this.

As long as a ninja has awakened the Sharingan, it is almost impossible to find an opponent in the same level.

As for the civilian Uchiha, ordinary people may not know about it, but as long as they have the strength to reach the level of Chunin or have some experience as Genin, they all know that the Uchiha's detonating tags and shuriken series of ninja tools are welcomed by the entire ninja world, and there are also the Ninja Cat Clan who secretly sell ninja tools for them in other villages and countries.

Considering all the advantages mentioned above, the difficulty in getting along with the Uchiha in the beginning is hardly a disadvantage for the people in the village now, but rather an advantage.

What's more, Uchiha's behavior of delegating power to the police department during this period has directly increased the villagers' and ninjas' favorable impression of Uchiha.

All signs are enough to show that Uchiha definitely wants to ease the relationship with the village.

Jiraiya just thought that the old man was too worried because of his old age, but after all, he was sitting in the position of Hokage, so it was understandable that he would be prepared for danger in times of peace. So he should listen to the old man and find out more about it for him.

"Okay, old man. I'll go tomorrow to find out what's going on inside the Uchiha."

Seeing that Jiraiya did not refuse too much, Sarutobi Hiruzen nodded with satisfaction.

"Well, now that you agreed to this, I feel relieved."

"Do you have anything else to ask? If not, you should go back and rest. You smell like alcohol. I guess you just returned to the village today and drank a lot of wine."

After saying that, Sarutobi Hiruzen took his pipe and walked towards the office door, ready to leave.

"Wait, old man."

Jiraiya suddenly called out to Sarutobi Hiruzen.

Sarutobi Hiruzen turned around, his heart suddenly beating, his head tilted slightly downward, looking at Jiraiya.

"What's wrong, Jiraiya, is there anything else you want to ask?"

Jiraiya slowly turned around, his eyes became much sharper than before, and an angry look appeared on his face.

"Are you not going to tell me about Naruto, old man?"

Suddenly, Sarutobi Hiruzen's heart felt as if pierced by a needle. The reason he wanted to leave as soon as possible was that he didn't want to mention anything about Naruto to Jiraiya.

"You actually asked that. I guess you've already visited Naruto. Don't worry, he's safe in the village. I'll visit him from time to time."

Although he felt apologetic, he had no choice but to sacrifice Naruto's childhood for the sake of the village. He just hoped that Minato and Kushina, who are now in the underworld, could forgive him.

Hearing Sarutobi Hiruzen say this, Jiraiya clenched his fists unconsciously, and the armor in his hands made a series of noises.

His eyes were fixed on Sarutobi Hiruzen.

"It's safe, it's really safe. There are several ANBU ninjas watching closely around me. How can it not be safe?"

"You know that's not what I meant! I want to ask you why! Why is Naruto, the son of the Fourth Hokage, so unwelcome in the village? He is even regarded as an ominous sign! As a demon fox!"

"Minato and Kushina sacrificed their lives, and even gambled Naruto's life, and this is how the village treats you! Are you worthy of Minato and his wife in the underworld?"

It could be the influence of alcohol, or it could be Jiraiya's guilt towards his disciple that made him explode at this moment and express his inner doubts directly.

Faced with his apprentice's questioning, Sarutobi Hiruzen wanted to escape, but at this point, he could no longer avoid it and could only continue to carry out his past choice. His face turned grim, his aura changed instantly, and his eyes became cold and ruthless.

"Jiraiya, this information was spread by Danzo in order to bring Naruto into the Root. What has happened cannot be undone. I have already punished Danzo."

"Saving Naruto and preventing his roots from growing any further is what I have done to the best of my ability..."

"Shut up! That's ridiculous!"

Jiraiya directly interrupted what Sarutobi Hiruzen was about to say.

He walked towards his former master step by step, but he felt that the Sandaime Hokage in front of him was different from the past and was no longer the kind and amiable master in his memories.

"You mean by the best effort you can make is to let him live alone in a shabby little apartment?"

"Does that mean he will go hungry every day, and even having ramen noodles is a luxury for him?"

"Just showing up occasionally, giving a few words of care and encouragement, can make Naruto happy for the whole day, the kind of care that is like training a death warrior?"

"As the Hokage, can't you even meet his most basic needs? Is this what you call your best effort?!"

Jiraiya used almost all his strength to say these words word by word. His eyes were bloodshot and his gums were bleeding, seeping out of the corners of his mouth.

Looking at Jiraiya like this, Sarutobi Hiruzen didn't know what to do for a moment and couldn't help feeling a little regretful.

Yeah, I can do all of this...

But after changing his mind, he hardened his heart.

"Jiraiya, I let Orochimaru go because I was soft-hearted and that led to a huge mistake."

After hearing what the other party said, Jiraiya gradually regained his composure. He stopped interrupting the other party and chose to continue listening.

"Now, I can no longer let Naruto, the Human Chuuriki, feel insecure because of my soft-heartedness."

"Konoha's former heroes, White Fang committed suicide, Tsunade went on a journey, Orochimaru escaped and rebelled, and you have been wandering outside the village. I must keep Naruto, the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, firmly under control! All this is for the village!"

After Sarutobi Hiruzen finished speaking, there was a moment of silence between the master and the disciple.

After a long time, Jiraiya raised his head and looked at the old man in front of him. He was over fifty years old and had a head full of white hair. His body was not as straight as he remembered. The heavy burden had already bent his spine. He could only rely on smoking all day to relieve the pressure in his heart.

Thinking back on what he had done over the years, he had been away from home for long periods of time because of the "Son of Prophecy" as mentioned by the Toad Sage, and later because of his obsession with Orochimaru, he left the village to look for him, leaving this lonely old man alone to guard Konoha. Wasn't he without fault?

Jiraiya could understand what Sarutobi Hiruzen did to Naruto, but he absolutely disagreed. He couldn't bear to watch the surviving son of his beloved disciple go through such a miserable life, as if living in a prison.

"Old man, I understand. Naruto will be taken care of by me from now on. I won't leave this time I come back."

After saying that, he jumped out of the window and left, leaving Sarutobi Hiruzen alone standing there, not knowing what he was thinking about.
