Chapter 223 Battle under night

It was late at night, and the corridors in the UN building were almost empty, with only the occasional security patrol bringing a hint of life to the silent building. On such a quiet night, Adam Jenkins, who was in the office of the UN representative to the United States, finished his day's work and was about to leave his office. He packed up his documents, turned off his computer, put on his coat, and prepared to go home.

Just as he was about to leave the office, a seemingly ordinary cleaner slowly walked by. The cleaner was actually a Skrull, a member of an alien race that excels in shapeshifting and disguise, and he was sent to ensure Adam Jenkins' safe evacuation.

The cleaner pretended to be busy outside Adam's office, but in fact he was paying close attention to the surroundings. When Adam appeared, he blocked his way as if unintentionally, smiled and nodded to Adam. Adam responded politely, but obviously did not notice anything unusual.

"Good evening, sir. You've been working late today." The cleaner said in a calm tone, while his eyes quickly scanned the surroundings to make sure no one else noticed them.

Adam chuckled, "Yes, today's meeting was really long. You worked hard too."

The cleaner nodded, and then pretended to continue his cleaning work, but in fact he quietly activated a micro headset and reported in a low voice: "The target is preparing to leave, and the plan is being implemented."

Adam walked into the long corridor, followed by the cleaner, making sure there were no potential threats in every corner. They passed through several security checks, and each time Adam passed smoothly without being noticed, while the cleaner pretended to clean up behind him, but in fact he was providing cover.

At the end of the corridor is a door leading to the underground parking lot. Adam intends to leave through here, and the cleaner needs to separate from him here, and another agent will meet Adam in the parking lot.

Adam pressed the elevator button and the door slowly opened. Just as he was about to enter the elevator, the cleaner whispered, "Good night, sir."

Adam nodded and stepped into the elevator. After the elevator door closed, the cleaner quickly turned around and contacted another agent through his communication device: "The target has entered the elevator, proceed according to the plan."

In the underground parking lot, another agent was ready. He was a burly man who looked like an ordinary driver, but in fact he was also a Skrull. He stood next to a black car, ready to start the vehicle at any time.

When the elevator door opened again, Adam Jenkins walked out and scanned the parking lot, not noticing anything unusual. He walked toward the black car, and the driver immediately opened the door.

"Good evening, sir, please get in the car." The driver's voice was calm and friendly.

Adam nodded and got into the car without hesitation. The door closed and the car slowly drove out of the parking lot and disappeared into the night.

......

The city was wrapped in a mysterious shadow late at night, and the air was filled with a cold wind. In a remote alley not far from the United Nations building, Alexander Pierce's Hydra agents had quietly set up tracking devices. These agents, wearing dark combat uniforms and night vision goggles on their faces, were closely monitoring the black sedan that Adam Jenkins left the United Nations building in.

"The target is already in the car, prepare for action." The captain whispered orders through the headset, his eyes as sharp as a knife.

Several well-equipped Hydra pursuit vehicles quickly started up and followed the black sedan silently, keeping a certain distance to avoid attracting attention. These agents are well-trained and good at conducting covert operations in urban environments.

However, what they did not realize was that disguised Skrull agents were also present, and they had also noticed the actions of the Hydra agents. The Skrulls' goal was to ensure the safety of Adam Jenkins, so when they discovered Hydra's pursuit, they immediately prepared to intervene.

The car shuttled through the city streets at night, and the pursuit vehicle followed closely behind it like a ghost. At a remote intersection, the Skrull agents suddenly joined the pursuit sequence, and their vehicles drove side by side with the Hydra agents' vehicles.

Suddenly, the vehicle driven by the Skrull accelerated and rushed towards a Hydra vehicle. With a violent collision, the Hydra vehicle was forced to deviate from the route and crashed into a roadside building. With a loud bang, the Hydra vehicle was scrapped and the driver and passengers were severely injured.

The Hydra agent captain immediately realized that they were ambushed, and he ordered other vehicles to prepare for battle through the headset. "We are under attack, all units, prepare to engage!"

The Skrull agents quickly jumped out of the car, with all kinds of weapons ready in their hands. A fierce exchange of fire broke out on the street. Bullets streaked across the night sky, and flames and explosions rang out one after another.

Although well-equipped, Hydra agents found themselves at a distinct disadvantage against the Skrulls' human-like agents. Not only were the Skrulls highly skilled in combat, their ability to change shape allowed them to thrive in urban environments and easily evade Hydra's attacks.

On the streets, cars were used as cover, explosions and gunfire continued. The Skrull agents moved swiftly, jumping from one cover to another, their shooting was accurate, and every bullet could take the life of an enemy.

Hydra agents tried to fight back, deploying heavy firepower at street corners and alleys, attempting to fend off the Skrulls' attacks with machine guns and grenades, but the Skrulls' flexibility and efficient tactics quickly disrupted their defenses.

A Hydra agent was trying to fire an RPG from behind an overturned police car, but as he aimed, a Skrull agent rushed over at incredible speed and knocked the agent to the ground with a well-aimed shot.

During the battle, the Skrull agents demonstrated their unusual tactics: some of them transformed into Hydra agents and blended into the enemy, causing confusion and panic. This deception tactic greatly weakened the morale and organizational structure of Hydra.

The Hydra commander realized that the situation was not good and began to try to organize a retreat. He hurriedly issued an order via radio: "All units, retreat to the second area assembly point, we need to reorganize the defense line!"

However, the Skrull agents were in pursuit, using excellent tactics and changeability to effectively cut off Hydra's retreat route. Whenever Hydra agents tried to assemble, the Skrull agents would quickly intervene, using precise shooting and tactical bombs to prevent them from effectively assembling.

As the battle continued, the streets became more and more devastated, with burned vehicles, broken glass and craters scattered around every corner. The air was filled with the smell of gunpowder and blood, and the city became a battlefield that night.

Finally, with the orderly intervention of the army, the remnants of Hydra and the Skrulls were forced to retreat completely.

In a dim morgue in Hydra's temporary facility, Alexander Pierce walked into the room with heavy footsteps. The roar of the air conditioner echoed in the enclosed space, adding a bit of cold atmosphere to this already gloomy scene.

In front of him, on a dissection table, was placed the corpse of an alien creature. The corpse looked roughly similar to humans, but its skin color was dark gray, and its body structure was different from that of humans in many ways, such as the fibers of its muscle tissue were obviously coarser and more complex.

A scientist in a white coat, a biological expert from Hydra, stood beside the corpse, his expression serious and focused. When he saw Pierce enter, he immediately stepped forward and gave a military salute.

"Sir, this is the body of an alien creature we recovered during the battle tonight." The expert's voice was calm and steady. "We have preliminarily analyzed its tissue samples and compared them with any known species on Earth."

Pierce approached the dissection table and examined the alien corpse with sharp eyes. "Tell me, what did we learn from this corpse?"

The expert nodded and began to explain: "First of all, the cell structure of this organism is very unique. It contains a complex polymer that we have never seen before. This substance seems to be able to maintain the activity and stability of cells in extreme environments. We speculate that this may be a biological mechanism for them to adapt to outer space or other harsh environments."

He pointed to a slice of the corpse and said, "You see, the muscle fibers here are not only thicker than those of humans, but also have a self-repair function. This explains why these creatures can recover quickly after fighting."

The expert switched to another microscope image. "In addition, the nervous system of these creatures is extremely developed, which is directly related to their ability to shapeshift. Their neurons are full of a special ion channel, which enables them to quickly change their body shape and texture when subjected to external physical influences."

Pierce listened very carefully, his mind constantly analyzing the potential applications of this information. "These findings are very important to us. They may have far-reaching implications for our biological weapons program and even our super soldier program."

The expert nodded. "Yes, sir. We are trying to extract these unique biomolecules and see if they can be synthesized or replicated. If successful, we may be able to develop a new generation of bio-enhancement technology."

"Continue this research and keep me updated." Pierce said firmly, then turned and prepared to leave. "If we master this technology, it will greatly enhance Hydra's strategic position in the world."

The expert replied respectfully, "Yes, sir."

Pierce walked out of the morgue, his mind full of new plans and possibilities. Behind him, in the cold morgue, the alien corpse looked even more mysterious and terrifying under the dim light. Its existence was not only a mystery, but also a huge opportunity.
