Chapter 194 Captain Marvel: Trapped and Adversity

Carol Danvers, the Captain Marvel of a parallel world, slowly wakes up in the high-tech shelter of the Umbrella Corporation. Next to her is Riri Williams, a young and energetic superhero. Before their eyes is a strange and high-tech environment, equipped with various advanced equipment and monitoring systems.

Carol's head still hurts, and she tries to remember what happened. She remembers that she and Rarity encountered unprecedented resistance when they fought against the Hawke Group. They were defeated by a force beyond imagination, and then everything became blurry.

Next to her, Riri Williams was also trying to open her eyes. She looked even more exhausted than Carol. There were obvious traces of battle on her breastplate, proving her bravery and tenacity in the battle.

Carol managed to sit up and looked around, her eyes calm and determined. "Rarity, are you okay?" she asked.

Rarity nodded, though she was still a little pale. "Yes, I'm fine. But where is this? Are we being held captive?"

Carol carefully observed the surrounding environment. "It looks like a high-tech shelter. I guess this should be a facility of the Hawke Group, or in other words, the territory of Nathan Hawke's other company, the Umbrella Group."

Rarity looked around nervously. "So what do we do now? We seem to be trapped here."

Carol took a deep breath and tried to analyze the current situation. "First, we need to figure out why they want to capture us and what their purpose is. Then, we must find a way to escape from here."

Rarity nodded slightly, her eyes gleaming with determination. "I agree. We can't just give up like this."

The two began to check their equipment. As expected, they found that their communication equipment and some key equipment had been confiscated. This increased the difficulty of their escape, but Carol and Ruirui were both fighters who had experienced countless battles and they would not give up easily.

Carol walked to a corner of the shelter and tapped the wall gently with her hands. "These walls seem to be particularly strong and difficult to break with ordinary force."

Rarity walked over and observed carefully. "We need to find their weakness. Maybe there's a system we can exploit."

At this moment, a door suddenly opened. A scientist wearing an Umbrella Group uniform walked in, with a curious and researching look in his eyes.

Carol and Rarity immediately became alert, ready to deal with possible threats.

Kreutz was not hostile. He looked at the two of them and after learning their names from Nathan Hawke, he said, "Carol Danvers? Riri Williams? Welcome to the Umbrella Group. I'm the director of research here, and I want to talk to you."

Carol stood up straight, nervously. "We have nothing to talk about. Tell us, why did you arrest us?"

Kreutz smiled. "You are very special individuals. We are very interested in your abilities. If you are willing to cooperate, we have a lot to offer you."

Rarity responded coldly. "We will not cooperate with you. Our mission is to protect the world, not to become a tool of some dictator."

Kreutz's expression turned serious. "This isn't just about you. This is about a bigger plan. The boss has a vision, and you can be a part of that vision."

Carol and Rarity looked at each other. They knew this was a tough situation. But they also knew that no matter what the other said, they couldn't give up on their beliefs.

"No, we won't be your pawns," Carol said firmly, "We will find a way to leave here and stop your plan."

Kreutz sighed, looking disappointed. "That's your choice. But remember, you don't have a choice here."

With that, he turned and left the shelter, leaving Carol and Rarity behind.

Carol turned to Rarity. "We can't give up. We need to find a way to escape and get back to our world as soon as possible. Things here are more complicated than we thought."

Rarity nodded, a determined gleam in her eyes. "Yes, we can't let them succeed. We will find a way out."

But after saying this, Riri Williams became depressed.

Carol noticed the change in her and went to sit next to her.

"Rui Rui, what's wrong?" Carol asked with concern.

Rui Rui looked up at Carol, with helplessness and frustration in her eyes. "Carol, have you ever thought about this? We can move freely in this shelter, and they don't even have particularly strict guards. Doesn't this just prove that Hawke Group is not worried at all about our escape? The extent to which they know us may be far beyond our imagination."

Carol listened silently, her brows beginning to furrow. Indeed, what Ruirui said made sense. If they really posed a threat to her and Ruirui, the Hawke Group should have adopted stricter monitoring and restrictions. This relatively relaxed attitude undoubtedly implied that they had absolute confidence in their control over the two.

"Rarity, this may be one of their strategies to make us feel hopeless and powerless." Carol tried to encourage her, "But it doesn't mean we really have no chance. We can't give up hope."

Rarity took a deep breath. Despite her doubts, she knew Carol was right. She couldn't just give up. "You're right, Carol. We can't just give up. Even if they have confidence in us, there will always be loopholes we can exploit."

The two sat up again and began to carefully observe every corner of the shelter, looking for a possible way to escape. They knew that this would be a difficult challenge, but as long as there was a glimmer of hope, they would never give up.

Carol began to analyze the structure of the shelter. "Look at these walls. Although they are strong, there may be some mechanical or electronic system that can be interfered with. We need to find the weak link in this system."

Rarity nodded. She walked over to the wall and examined it carefully with her engineering knowledge. "Maybe we can try to destroy the surveillance system and create some chaos."

Just then, a door opened again, but this time a more senior-looking Umbrella Group official walked in. He was holding some documents in his hands, with a serious expression.

"Carol Danvers and Riri Williams, I'm the director of security for Umbrella Corporation. I'd like to have a more in-depth conversation with you." His tone revealed an unquestionable authority.

Carol and Rarity immediately became alert.

Wesker appeared in front of Carol Danvers and Riri Williams, and his aura and cold majesty made the atmosphere in the whole room more tense.

Carol watched Wesker, realizing this might be their chance to escape. She winked at Rarity, signaling her to be ready to act. Carol slowly stood up, as if she was listening to Wesker, but in reality she was looking for the best moment to attack.

Suddenly, Carol launched a swift attack and rushed towards Wesker. Her fist went straight to his face. However, to Carol's shock, Wesker's reaction was extremely fast, and he cleverly dodged the attack by turning sideways.

Wesker threw a backhand punch with amazing power. Although Carol raised her arm in time to block, she was still knocked back a few steps. She felt a sharp pain in her arm, which made her realize that Wesker was not an ordinary person, and he had a fighting ability that could not be underestimated.

Carol did not give up, she rushed towards Wesker again, this time she used faster speed and more changes. Her punches and kicks rained down on Wesker, but he always seemed to be able to predict Carol's movements and cleverly avoid or block them.

In the battles again and again, Carol gradually felt powerless. Wesker not only had amazing strength, but also superb fighting skills. Every time he counterattacked, he was precise and deadly. Carol began to realize that she might not be Wesker's opponent in her current state.

Rarity watched from the side, knowing that her fighting ability was far inferior to Carol's, so she began to look for opportunities to attack from the side, hoping to provide support to Carol. However, Wesker seemed to have a strong control over the battlefield, almost guarding against attacks from two directions at the same time.

Finally, Carol was hit in the chest by Wesker's punch and fell heavily to the ground. Rarity rushed forward, but was quickly subdued by Wesker.

Carol lay on the ground, gasping for breath, her eyes full of resignation and frustration. Wesker stood in front of them with a cold expression. "Although you two are brave, you are far from being able to fight us. Now, you'd better obey, otherwise you will bear the consequences."

This battle made Carol and Ruirui deeply aware of their situation. They were facing an enemy that was far more powerful and dangerous than they had imagined. Despite this, their eyes were still burning with unyielding fighting spirit. They knew that no matter how many difficulties and challenges lay ahead, they would not give up easily.

Because she is.

Captain Marvel.

......

Kreutz stood in Nathan Hawke's office, holding a detailed data report in his hand. This report recorded in detail Carol Danvers' performance in the press conference battle and the data analysis of her declining combat effectiveness in the shelter.

Kreutz cleared his throat and began to report: "According to our observations and data analysis, in the battle at the press conference, Carol Danvers showed very high combat efficiency and energy output. Her combat skills and energy manipulation abilities have reached a very high level."

Nathan Hawke listened intently, his eyes sparkling with interest in the information.

"However, while in our containment facility, we noticed a significant decrease in Carol's combat effectiveness," Kreutz continued. "We conducted detailed monitoring of her physiological and energy status and found that her energy regeneration rate and total output capacity had decreased."

Nathan Hawke raised his eyebrows slightly. "Is it due to environmental factors or her own reasons? Of course, I know some specific reasons."

Kreutz nodded and explained, "This seems to be caused by many factors. First, she suffered some injuries in the battle, which temporarily affected her energy system. Secondly, the special environment settings of our shelter, including the interference with the energy field, also weakened her abilities to a certain extent. At the same time, the most important point is that her body seems to have a slight abnormality, which we are still studying."

Nathan Hawke pondered for a moment, then asked, "So, she is currently a threat to us?"

Kreutz quickly replied: "At present, although she still has a certain combat capability, she is no longer enough to pose a substantial threat to us. We will continue to monitor her status and take necessary measures to ensure that she cannot interfere with our operations."

Nathan Hawke nodded with a satisfied look on his face. "Very good, keep monitoring. I'm very interested in Carol Danvers' abilities, and we might be able to use her. At the same time, ensure the safety of the shelter and don't let her have any chance to escape."

Kreutz responded solemnly and left the office. Nathan Hawke was immersed in his own thoughts, thinking about how to use Carol Danvers as a pawn to achieve his greater goals.
