Operation Red Book

Chapter 78 Crisis at McMillan Manor 1

The heavy curtains were all drawn down at some point, and a servant was left guarding each window.

Their eyes were sharp and focused, and once someone approached the curtain, they would stop him in time and explain:

"I'm sorry, the Irish people we have been supporting in the town have launched an attack on the manor. Lieutenant Edward has sent people to drive them away from the manor. In order to prevent the distinguished adults from being stained by blood, please rest assured to stay here. The manor will protect your safety."

The music was still playing, the mellow sound of the cello rang out mournfully in the mansion, and the black and white keys were played quickly.

The cheerful piano sounds intertwined with the low cello sounds made the nobles in the house even more uneasy.

No one was dancing on the dance floor anymore. Some brave young men volunteered to ask the servants to go out and provide support, but they were told of the lady's order - no one was allowed to leave the mansion and no one was allowed to approach the windows, even to take a look at the battle situation outside.

From time to time, loud noises could be heard outside the window, as well as the constant sounds of weapons fighting. These sounds, combined with the wailing music in the mansion, formed an anxious symphony.

"Oh, God, stop this damn music. Are you going to accompany those Irish hooligans?" someone shouted at the band in an angry and high-pitched tone.

"Please be patient, my lord. This is Her Majesty's favorite band. The Irish guys can't understand high-pitched waltzes."

The head butler walked onto the dance floor, his arrival giving everyone a dose of reassurance.

The people in the room were dead silent, with only the long, slow waltz and the occasional loud noise coming from outside the window.

The head butler lifted a corner of the curtain and looked out, his brows furrowed and his expression serious.

The headless knight was floating in the air with orange-red flames all over his body. He leaped lightly and stepped heavily in front of a maid. His heavy armor made two holes in the ground, and small pieces of stone were shaken in the air and scattered everywhere.

The maid picked up the dagger in her hand, cried and stabbed it into the headless knight's waist, but it was of no use.

The flame burned the blade of the dagger, and in an instant it turned the dagger into bright red molten iron.

The high temperature was transmitted through the metal to the maid's hand. She screamed, let go of the black handle of the dagger, and crawled into the grass using her hands and feet.

But the headless knight behind him had already raised the sword in his hand. The bronze sword in the moonlight was like a glowing black snake, and it stabbed quickly at the maid's back.

"Uh-"

The maid screamed as the sword pierced her chest and her whole body collapsed.

The headless knight dragged his heavy armor to the maid, raised his sword and chopped off the maid's head.

He picked up the maid's long yellow hair and threw it into the pool. The basketball-sized head was thrown into the fountain pool, and a lot of blood flowed from the wound.

The skull's eyes widened as it looked in horror at the several other skulls in the pool.

"Even after all this, you're still unwilling to contact SCO? Ordinary people can't resist the evil spirits of hell!"

Holmes hid Mrs. Emerson in the bushes near the fountain and roared at Mr. Emerson in a low voice, suppressing his anger.

"No, no. The Queen will blame us, and we will be impeached by those knights, my children..." Mrs. Emerson said tremblingly, covering her head with her hands.

"You and your husband are exactly the same kind of people! Dukes and nobles, just parasites of the upper class!" Holmes said with regret.

"what--"

A scream was heard, and another servant was killed by the Headless Horseman not far away. Warm blood spurted onto the faces of Holmes and Mrs. Emerson.

"Tsk..."

Holmes looked at the helmetless man walking clumsily towards him, clenched the pistol in his hand and rushed to the headless knight.

"Hey, it's the end of the 19th century! The era of Queen Victoria! There are no knights now!" Holmes ran to the other side of the fountain and shouted to the Headless Knight.

"I am a knight! I am a knight who has experienced many battles and has won many honors! I am a knight who has been awarded by the king, betrothed by the princess, and awarded the Order of the Rose by the queen!"

The Headless Knight's hoarse roar came from the head in his hand.

He raised the sword in his hand and moved quickly towards Holmes.
