Operation Red Book
Chapter 53: Three Gentlemen's Ball Invitation 3
"Ivy! Ivy Lee! Bring me some hot water!"
Holmes screamed in the receiver, and Ivy's face suddenly turned dark.
Miss Mingcan from the front desk of Muyunzhai came over with a smile on her face. She covered her mouth and laughed twice, saying jokingly, "Miss Ivy, is it that black-haired handsome guy again? He has asked for your service five times in a row."
Ivy slammed the account book of Muyunzhai, picked up the kettle beside her, took the plate of fruit handed to her by Miss Mingcan, and turned to walk upstairs of Muyunzhai.
"You have to smile, Mr. Zhu warned you, always smile!"
Mingcan shouted behind Ivy, gesturing with two fingers at the corners of his mouth and giving Ivy a bright smile.
Ivy raised the corners of her mouth with a look of deep resentment, forced out a smile that was uglier than crying, then turned around and continued to look gloomy.
"Scream, scream, scream, scream..." Ivy walked towards the end of the corridor on the second floor.
Ivy has been serving the injured Holmes in bed for two weeks, and soon her patience will reach its limit.
During the day, Mrs. Hudson would take over the work. After Mrs. Hudson was fed up with him and threatened to kick him out, Joshua, who was more seriously injured than him, took over Mrs. Hudson's work.
Ivy took over the weekends and evenings, cooking, giving massages, cleaning the tea sets, and enduring Holmes's teasing.
If it were the usually hot-tempered Ivy, she would have thrown the scalding tea in his face long ago.
"This is for Shuyang, this is for Shuyang..." Ivy thought to herself, taking deep breaths.
When she first arrived at 221-B Baker Street, Mrs. Hudson was angry because Holmes did not sentence her husband to death. Ivy always remembered their conversation.
Only then did Ivy remember the short video about Sherlock Holmes that she had seen before.
He is extremely intelligent and cunning, and has a brother who wields great power in the government. If he is set up like Sherlock Holmes in Conan Doyle's books, maybe he can help Shuyang.
Ivy explained the matter to Holmes, and Holmes proposed a condition - to be his servant during his rest time and provide him with attentive service, and then he would consider it.
"What the hell, why did I agree to him?" Ivy thought and bit her lower lip in dissatisfaction.
Ivy walked to the door of a luxurious box and sighed heavily. Holmes' cunning smirk reappeared in her mind.
She was so angry that her teeth were itching, but she still forced a smile, put down the thermos and knocked on the door gently.
It was Joshua who opened the door. He helped Ivy carry the thermos and then considerately closed the door of the box.
Holmes sat comfortably on the leather sofa, with three beautiful sisters surrounding him and giving him massages.
He was soaking his feet comfortably while an old lady pressed the acupuncture points on the soles of his feet in a wooden barrel. He grimaced in pain, and every time he screamed in pain, the sister beside him fed him a piece of fruit.
When he saw Ivy, he immediately put on a bad face: "Why did you take so long to come here? The water in the bucket has become cold!"
Ivy bit her lower lip tightly, refused Joshua's help, took the kettle and walked over, sent the aunt who was massaging her feet away, and poured the hot water into the kettle.
"Ah——" Holmes let out a scream.
"It's hot, it's hot. If you burn me, you will be responsible!"
After Ivy poured the hot water, she picked up the plate of fruit and began to replenish the fruit next to Holmes.
"Oh my - there is such a good place next to the Thames. Today I finally saw it. Why didn't I have such good service when I was in Baker Street before. If you work here, you have to learn something useful..."
Ivy interrupted Holmes's sermon by stuffing a pastry into his mouth.
Ivy arranged the pastries, picked up the empty kettle and prepared to go downstairs to continue looking through the account book.
"Wait, little sheep!"
Holmes called Ivy, and Ivy glared at him impatiently.
"I'm not going to bother you, relax. I mean, I want to meet your Mr. Zhu and talk to him about Shuyang."
"real!"
Ivy replied in surprise, her eyes sparkling, but her smile soon faded and her face was full of doubt.
"Why did you suddenly stop torturing me? Are you lying to me?"
"When have I ever lied to you? It was because of these ladies, especially this skilled lady."
Holmes raised his eyebrows and pointed at the old lady who was massaging his feet.
"They told me about Shuyang's background and how he interacted with them. This gave me a sense of moral urgency, and I thought maybe I could help them."
The three beautiful sisters and the old aunt looked up and smiled at Ivy, and a bright smile also appeared on Ivy's face.
"Then I'll go down and inform Mr. Zhu now, and then I'll make you some kelp stewed pork ribs for lunch!"
Ivy jumped up happily, opened the box door and walked out, before saying to Holmes with a smile, "See you later."
Ivy stomped her feet excitedly at the door of the box. As she was humming a song and preparing to leave, the door behind her opened.
"Student Ivy, I...I have something to tell you...you." Joshua called Ivy from behind.
"I've told you so many times, just call me Ivy." Ivy turned around in confusion and said to Joshua, who was looking down and blushing.
"Well, Mr. Moriarty asked me to ask you if you would like to go to Mrs. Emerson's ball this Sunday."
Joshua stuttered as he squirmed and kept glancing up to see Ivy's reaction.
"Do I have to go?" Ivy said embarrassedly, "I don't know those nobles and I can't dance, so why should I go?"
"You, you don't have to go, it's okay, it's just..."
Joshua's tone was clearly filled with disappointment as he continued to stutter.
"Why do you want to go? This isn't like the Christmas dance at school."
Ivy said carefully. She could hear the disappointment in Joshua's voice but she didn't understand why.
"Ah, Mr. Holmes said that there is an unsolved murder case at the manor where the ball is being held. I want to go and have a look..."
Joshua twisted his fingers around his belt and spoke in increasingly low tones.
"Then I won't go. It's too scary. I'm busy. You go in first and stay for lunch."
After listening to this with a frown on her face, Ivy said something lightly and walked out, leaving Joshua, with a red face, at a loss at the door of the box.
Holmes looked at Joshua, who had ignored everyone from the moment he came in to the moment he sat on the chair, and couldn't help laughing at him: "Haha, you're so lame. You invited the girl to the dance but she refused! You don't have a dance partner!"
Joshua sighed heavily with his back to Holmes, and rested his hands on his cheeks, at a loss.
