Rebirth of the Firstborn Daughter: Life is like a Dream

Chapter 25: Classes Begin at the Women's Academy

If Wei Bingru were to be passed on to the Xiao family, she would become a legitimate daughter.

Whether for him or for the entire Wei family, there are visible and tangible benefits.

Although he didn't take care of the household affairs much, he knew that the relationship between Xiao and Xue Xin was not as harmonious as it seemed on the surface. He knew that Xiao was a kind-hearted and virtuous lady, but it was really unexpected that she was so magnanimous as to take Xue Xin's daughter into her hands.

"Let Xiaoru be transferred to you?" he asked again unsurely.

Xiao took Wei Zhong's hand and sat back on the bench again. "Grandpa, I was just thinking about this. Xiaoru is a very obedient child. I know you care about her. She is your daughter, so why is she not my daughter? I really hope that she can have such a good marriage, but... I don't know if Aunt Lian is willing to agree to this."

Wei Zhong was completely convinced at this time. He felt that Xiao was well-educated and sensible and had always been thinking for him. How could he doubt her intentions? "It's not up to her to decide whether to agree or not. Since Bingyan's marriage is with the queen, and I can't break my promise to Lord Chu, this is the only decision I can make."

"It will be good if the old man agrees. I will write a letter back and tell Aunt Lian, and then invite father to preside over the wedding. Then you can agree to Lord Chu's marriage?" Xiao asked softly, but deep down in her heart, she was thinking, as expected, Lian Xuexin never mentioned this matter to the old man. Fortunately, she didn't say it directly.

"Very good, you go and arrange it. I will also write another letter to father and explain things more clearly." Wei Zhong nodded with a smile.

Xiao replied with a smile and personally served Wei Zhong his meal.

Wei Zhong's mood brightened, and the sky was clear and bright. After dinner, he did not go to talk to Mr. Tang, but stayed in the main room to talk with Xiao, and naturally rested there at night.

It was late at night and I just skipped it.

The next day, Wei Bingyan got up at dawn. After washing up, Xing'er had already brought in breakfast.

Today she was going to attend formal classes at the Women's College. She had only heard of such a women's college but had never been in contact with it. She only knew that it had a good reputation.

In another two to three years, it will become the most prestigious women's college in the Tang Dynasty.

Almost all the girls who graduated from Jinyun City Girls' College were candidates for daughter-in-law that many aristocratic families wanted.

Even so, Wei Bingyan was still not too obsessed with attending formal classes.

She wanted to go to the main room to pay her respects to Xiao, but when she got outside, she heard others say that Wei Zhong stayed here and had not yet gotten up. After hearing this, Wei Bingyan had no choice but to stop and went directly to the academy with Anxiang.

The Wei family's small courtyard is located on Rong'an Street in the east of the city. The courtyards of kings, princes, generals and ministers live on both sides, while the women's college is at the foot of the gorgeous Peach Blossom Mountain in the north of the city.

It took less than half an hour to get from Rong'an Street to Taohua Mountain. Taking advantage of this free time, Wei Bingyan took out the acupuncture book again. Although she had memorized the contents, she was reluctant to put it down.

The carriage rumbled forward continuously. Anxiang looked back at Wei Bingyan, then turned to look outside the carriage. She didn't know what she was thinking about, but her eyelids were a little wet.

Wei Bingyan was so immersed in the book that she forgot how time passed. She didn't know how much time had passed before she heard An Xiang whisper, "Miss, we've arrived at the academy."

Wei Bingyan put the book in her hand into a box in the carriage, straightened her fine hair and dress, then gently lifted the curtain and stepped out of the carriage on a footstool.

Looking up, you can see the spacious main entrance of the academy, which is majestic and solemn. The exquisite plaque has powerful golden characters on it: Yunlu College.

The Women's College is in a corner of Yunlu College.

Anxiang had been to the college with Xie Shujing before, so she knew the way. Wei Bingyan then asked her to lead her to the Women's College.

We crossed a not-so-small garden, in which there was a small freshwater lake with clear and sparkling waves. On the overgrown lakeside was a row of small-leaved poplars.

On the other side is a forest, in the forest you can vaguely see some simple benches, probably for the students of the college.

The Women's College is located on the front mountain of the college, only a short distance away from the gorgeous peach blossom forest of Taohua Mountain.

"Uh, Bingyan, are you here at the academy for classes too?" As soon as I walked into the spacious main entrance of the academy, I heard a very familiar voice sounding not far ahead.

Wei Bingyan looked over and saw several very familiar figures.

Xie Shujing didn't expect to see Wei Bingyan in the Women's College. She thought she had accidentally seen her wrongly and walked towards her in surprise.

"Miss Xie." Wei Bingyan nodded slightly and greeted Xie Shujing warmly. Under her eyes, she saw Chu Xueying and a few close friends coming towards this place.

I should have thought of this earlier. How could Xie Shujing and Chu Xueying not go to the Women's College for formal classes? Wei Bingyan had a headache and felt that the days ahead might not be so peaceful.

"Ms. Wei, I heard from Mrs. Han the day before yesterday that you would also come to the college today. Let me introduce the situation of this college to you today." Chu Xuying did not even look at Xie Shujing. She appeared next to Wei Bingyan and kept raising her chin to look at her.

Wei Bingyan smiled gently, "Thank you for your hard work, Miss Chu."

Xie Shujing glanced at Chu Xueying and said to Wei Bingyan with a smile: "Bingyan, I will wait for you to attend the formal class together."

"Ms. Wei may not like the class you like. It's just wishful thinking." Chu Xuying looked at Xie Shujing with contempt. She felt very annoyed by her familiar attitude towards Wei Bingyan.

"How do you know Bingyan doesn't like it?" Xie Shujing replied unhappily.

Chu Xueying sneered, "It's no use talking to you any more, Miss Wei, let me take you around the academy!"

Wei Bingyan wished she could get away from here immediately. Every time Chu Xuying and Xie Shujing had an argument, many people would come to watch the fun. The feeling of being the center of attention was not a good one.

The Women's College has four major subjects: music, etiquette, art, and calligraphy, and there are four different classrooms. The teachers here will not require any student to be proficient in all four subjects, but rather choose based on their own interests.

You can go to the classroom where you like to study something to take formal classes.

There is no pressure at all when taking classes here. The teachers will not require you to complete your daily homework within the specified time. You only need to pass the final exams twice a year to graduate from the college.

It was the first time that Wei Bingyan heard someone talk about the college's teaching model. It was unprecedented and new, and no other college had ever had such a teaching model.

"Is it the same in the men's college?" Wei Bingyan asked Chu Xueying who was analyzing the situation for her in confusion.

"Yes, but men have six knowledge subjects, plus social sciences and kung fu. Over the years, Li Yuyan is the only one who has achieved A in all six subjects." Chu Xuying's eyes revealed an expression of appreciation, as if she felt honored.

Wei Bingyan raised her eyebrows. Li Yuyan was indeed a very rare genius.

"Okay, I'll take you on a tour to this place. Miss Wei, have you decided which classroom you are going to study in?" Chu Xuying saw that Wei Bingyan didn't seem to take Li Yuyan seriously, and she felt a little unhappy deep down.

"Just... go to the Arts Department first." Wei Bingyan said without hesitation.
