My name is Chang An, your name is Gu Li

Chapter 70: Listening to a Secular Lecture at a Zen Temple

Gu Li was held in Chang An's arms, and he looked at the snowman he had built, feeling full of joy. Chang An looked at the plum blossoms around him and said:

"Mother Gu, do you want to take a walk here?"

Gu Li thought for a moment and asked worriedly, "Will there be any danger? Aren't there any wild animals like bears or wolves on the mountain?"

Chang An was amused by her again and replied, "The bears are still hibernating at this time, and we have to go further up the mountain to find wolves. Let's just walk in this plum forest, there will be no danger."

"Is that so?" Gu Li's eyes widened slightly, "Then let's go shopping."

So Chang An took Gu Li for a walk in the plum forest. Gu Li was like a curious baby, looking here and there, and from time to time he went to the lower branches to smell the fragrance of the plum blossoms.

Chang An didn't hold her hand, but followed her silently, letting her move freely in the forest. Gu Li walked in the plum forest for a while, and suddenly raised her little hand and grabbed around herself habitually. But it seemed that she didn't catch anything, so she felt a little strange, and then looked behind her nervously.

Chang An followed her quietly, and when he saw her suddenly look back at him nervously, he gave her a gentle smile. Gu Li was relieved to see Chang An still standing behind him, and then he picked a plum blossom from the branch closest to him and ran back to Chang An happily.

She stood on tiptoe and inserted the plum blossom in her hand into Chang An's hair, then smacked Chang An's mouth. While Chang An was stunned by her sudden attack, she ran away, shouting, "Chang Lang is going to become a young lady!"

Chang An came to his senses at this moment, and hurriedly ran out to chase Gu Li: "Mother Gu, how dare you tease me!"

Gu Li didn't run very fast, as if to let Chang An catch up. Chang An was also very fast, and soon caught up with Gu Li, and directly grabbed her waist from behind, pulling her back into his arms as Gu Li cried softly.

"Catch Gu Niang." Chang An pulled Gu Li into his arms and hugged him tightly, "You dared to tease your Chang Lang, believe it or not, he will sleep on the floor instead of sleeping with you tonight."

"No!" Gu Li turned around in Chang An's arms, facing him, "The ground is cold, Chang Lang can't sleep on the ground."

Then he looked at the plum blossom at the corner of Chang An's hair, stood on tiptoe to pick it off, put it in front of Chang An, and said, "This... This is the plum blossom I picked, and I give it to Chang Lang!"

Chang An looked at Gu Li's pretty face. Although she was already married, she still had some childishness on her face. Coupled with her expectant eyes, Chang An's heart melted.

He took the flower from Gu Li's hand, bent down and kissed her lips, then said, "Thank you, my dear Gu Niang."

But Gu Li smacked his lips and said, "My mouth is numb from the cold. I didn't seem to feel anything when Chang Lang kissed me just now."

Chang An raised his eyebrows. This little girl actually started to take advantage! But at this moment, a gust of wind blew, and then he heard a strange sound coming from above his head. His body instinctively hugged Gu Li and turned around, stretched out his hand to block Gu Li's head, and protected her under his body.

At first, Gu Li didn't know why Chang An did this, but after she was turned in a different direction, she saw the snow on the branches falling down and landing on Chang An's back.

She immediately exclaimed nervously: "Chang Lang, are you okay?"

Chang An helped Gu Li stand up straight, and the snow on his back and shoulders fell to the ground. He comforted him, "I'm fine, it's just a little snow."

Gu Li was still a little worried after hearing this, and reached out to pat Chang An's clothes. Chang An just watched Gu Li tidy up his clothes, and looked a little worried, and couldn't help but be a little stunned. Gu Li also felt Chang An's gaze, and somehow raised his head to meet his gentle gaze.

Chang An looked at Gu Li. There was still a hint of worry in her eyes, which inevitably added a touch of charm to her look.

The two of them just stared at each other for a long time, their hearts trembling, and their heads slowly moved closer...

When they separated again, Gu Li's face was flushed and she was panting slightly, as if she was lacking oxygen. And because the kiss lasted a bit too long, when her feet completely touched the ground, she suddenly staggered and fell directly into Chang An's arms.

Chang An naturally let her relax for a while, but then he heard Gu Li in his arms cough twice. He reached out and patted her back gently to help her breathe, then asked:

"Are you tired? If you are, let's go back to the temple."

Gu Li relaxed in Chang An's arms for a while, then came out of his arms, fixed his hair, and said, "Let's go back. It should be almost noon."

"it is good."

Chang An also helped her tidy up her hair, then took off the flower on her head and put it in her hand, then took her hand and walked towards Guanyin Temple along the same route they came.

When they returned to Guanyin Zen Temple, there were more pilgrims in the temple. Chang An led Gu Li all the way from the Heavenly King Hall to the Yuantong Hall, and there were almost crowds of people. Gu Li seemed to have never seen such a large flow of people, and he couldn't help but shrink behind Chang An nervously.

Chang An looked at Gu Li hiding behind him like a kitten, smiled, and quickened his pace. The guest room they stayed in was not far to the west of Yuantong Hall, so they quickly returned to their guest room.

After entering the house, Chang An poured a glass of water for Gu Li, tested the temperature, and handed it to Gu Li. Afterwards, the couple took a short rest in the house. When it was almost noon, the voice of the monk Liao Wen came from outside the door:

"My two donors, it's time for lunch."

Chang An and Gu Li looked at each other, and hurried to the door to open it for Monk Wen. Monk Wen, who was outside the door, was holding two vegetarian meals in his hands, his eyes slightly closed, and he was mainly facing Chang An in front of him, and said at the same time:

"Donor, lunch for you and your wife."

Chang An took the vegetarian meal and thanked him, "Thank you, Master."

Monk Liao Wen put his hands together and said, "After you two have lunch, you can go to the Great Hall to listen to the lecture."

"Thank you for your reminder, Master." Chang An nodded slightly to Monk Wen, then took out Gu Li's medicine and asked:

"Master, this is my wife's medicine. I need to take it morning, noon and night. Can you help me boil it?"

"Amitabha, of course it's okay." Monk Lewen took the medicine and left. After watching Monk Lewen leave, Chang'an returned to the room and closed the door.

After lunch, as usual, Monk Lewen came to take away the bowls and chopsticks, and brought Gu Li's medicine. After Gu Li finished drinking the medicine, Chang An took her to the square of the Great Hall. There were already a lot of cushions neatly placed on the square, and some of them were already occupied.

Wang Wei was already sitting on a corner of the large cushion. When he saw Chang An and Gu Li, he stretched out his hand and said, "Brother Yonghe, Madam Gu."

Chang An and Gu Li did not hesitate and came directly to sit next to Wang Wei.

"Brother Yonghe, I wonder if the vegetarian food here is delicious?" Wang Wei asked enthusiastically.

"Not bad." Chang An smiled slightly, "Where's Brother Mo Jie?"

"I am a believer in Buddhism, so there is nothing inappropriate about it." Wang Wei replied. Then he saw an old Zen master sitting in front of the main hall, so he said, "Brother Yonghe, the lecture is about to begin."

Chang An nodded slightly, and then said nothing more. The Zen master sitting above glanced at the people below the stage, said "Amitabha", and began to preach.

Facing such a boring Buddhist lecture, Wang Wei, who believed in Buddha, naturally listened carefully. Although Gu Li, who was sitting next to him, did not understand, he still listened very seriously. On the other hand, Chang An had the urge to yawn, but in order not to be impolite, he tried hard to hold it back.

Gu Li seemed to have noticed something was wrong with Chang An, so he took out a small paper bag from his arms and quietly put it into Chang An's hand. Chang An noticed something was wrong with his hand, so he looked over and met Gu Li's face.

"Chang Lang, you didn't eat enough just now, did you?" Gu Li said in a low voice, "I brought some candies, Chang Lang, you can have one if you are hungry."

Chang An smiled. He was bored, but he didn't expect Gu Li to think he was not full. But it was her good intention, so he opened the paper bag and looked around secretly. When he felt that no one noticed his little action, he quickly put the butter candy in his mouth, and then raised his head as if nothing had happened.

"The countless precious lotus flowers always emit the wonderful sound of the Dharma; the countless precious Mount Sumeru, the king of the mountains of wisdom, shows purity..."

The old Zen master was still explaining the scriptures, first talking about the original text of a passage, and then began to explain the meaning of the scriptures. Chang An was patient, and after listening to two passages, he automatically translated the contents of the scriptures in his mind, which surprised him a little.

Then the old Zen master recited another passage from the sutra: "In order to enable all sentient beings to obtain infinite wisdom, to lead all sentient beings into the Buddha Dharma, I dedicate this merit; in order to enable all sentient beings to obtain equal, immeasurable, pure speech, I dedicate this merit..."

After Chang An heard it in his mind, he "contemplated" it a little more and actually understood it. Then he listened to the Zen master's interpretation of the scriptures and the meaning was surprisingly similar!

Then, while listening, I compared the meaning of the scriptures with the meaning in my mind, which was a different way to relieve boredom. I listened for about an hour, and then Master Shangfangdi announced that the lecture for today was over.

The Zen master left, and Wang Wei breathed a sigh of relief. Gu Li pulled Chang An's clothes and asked in frustration, "The Zen master's words are so difficult, I don't understand. Chang Lang, do you understand what the master said?"

Chang An nodded and said, "I think I understand."

"Chang Lang is so capable, of course he can understand it." Gu Li also said as if to flatter him.

"Little flatterer." Chang An tapped her forehead lightly.

"Brother Yonghe, what do you think?" Wang Wei also asked at this time.

"Fortunately, I can understand some of it. It feels like a revelation." Of course, Chang An couldn't say that he understood it completely, otherwise what would he take Wang Wei for?

"That's good. I still have to go back to recite scriptures, so I won't disturb Brother Yonghe and Madam Gu any further." Wang Wei said.

The three of them stood up, and Wang Wei turned and left. At this time, because they had been sitting outside for a long time, Gu Li started coughing again. Chang An had no choice but to take her back to the room and let her rest for a while.

"There are activities such as walking meditation in the evening. Do you plan to go, Mother Gu?" Chang An asked while feeding Gu Li water.

Gu Li was drinking water and was reluctant to speak, but he still nodded to indicate that he wanted to go.

"Well, let's go after dinner."
