My Rebirth and the Strange Adventure of Black Zhen
Chapter 354: Influence outside the Singularity (Interlude)
Yogg-Saron, a horrifying and sinister being of the ancient past, brought chaos and brutality to the vast world of Azeroth and created the terrible Curse of Flesh to accelerate the assimilation of the Titans' creations.
However, just as the Titans resolutely launched a desperate struggle against the Old Gods and destroyed the solid fortresses of these gods in one fell swoop, they were dismayed to realize that the disaster brought by the Old Gods was far beyond their previous estimates - if they were to completely destroy them, it would inevitably lead to the destruction of Azeroth itself.
As a result, the Pantheon decided to intervene to curb the growing power of the Old Gods and imprison them on Azeroth, leaving them to wait for the final chapter of their fate. Among them, the most powerful and threatening Yogg-Saron is buried deep in the ancient city of Ulduar in the far north of the original universe, and is guarded by six powerful guardians - they are: Loken, Hodir, Thorim, Tyr, Mimiron and Freya. These six brave men will shoulder this almost endless mission and stick to this place to ensure that this evil existence cannot escape.
However, even in prison, Yogg-Saron did not completely lose his freedom. His dark, inky black blood silently flowed across the continent and then solidified into hard sand and stone. These "creatures" are omnipresent, and anything that comes into contact with them will be corroded and corrupted. Not only that, even his bewitching whispers also spread with the evil iron of Saron, causing countless creatures to go crazy and insane, and even the unwavering guardian Loken was not spared.
Loken fell deeper and deeper into endless darkness and despair, as if he had fallen into a bottomless pit and could not extricate himself. His once unwavering heart was now broken, and at this moment, he began to look to a Viking named Sif, trying to find a little comfort from her.
Sif is not an ordinary Vrykul, she is the companion of the guardian Thorim, which makes her particularly special in Loken's heart. However, it is this special feeling that has become the sharpest weapon in Yogg-Saron's hands. Yogg-Saron cleverly used Loken's deep love for Sif and gradually twisted it into an extremely dangerous and morbid obsession.
As time went on, this twisted feeling became stronger and stronger, and Loken became more and more paranoid. He constantly pressured Sif, eager to make the fact of their love public. However, every time he was ruthlessly rejected by Sif. Because she knew very well that if this forbidden love was known by Thorim, the trust that had been built between the guardians for many years would collapse in an instant.
Whenever he thought about the possibility of losing Sif forever, Loken fell into a state of near-madness. Anger and jealousy surged into his heart like a tide, and eventually completely devoured his sanity. Under the control of these negative emotions, he actually killed the woman he loved deeply with his own hands.
Although Loken was condemned by his conscience afterwards, he still lacked the courage to face Thorim and confess the truth of what happened. So he chose to escape from reality and made up a lie - blaming Sif's death on Angrim, the king of the ice giants, and passed this false news to Thorim.
After learning that his beloved wife was murdered, Thorim was furious. He led his Storm Giants to fight against the Frost Giants led by Angrim in a thrilling war. This war was large-scale and extremely destructive, bringing unprecedented disasters to the world. The source of all this tragedy was actually Loken's manipulated love and endless selfishness.
In that war-torn era, Sif's spirit continued to support and guide Loken. However, as time went on, the information she conveyed became more radical and evil. Despite this, Loken obeyed her orders without question.
Sif advised Loken to use the Forge of Will to create an elite force that would obey his orders. Only in this way could Loken ensure that Ulduar would not be destroyed in this thrilling war between giants. So, Loken devoted himself to the work of forming this invincible army, unaware that at this moment, a being disguised as Sif's soul had quietly invaded and defiled the mysterious Forge of Will.
What's even more terrifying is that Yogg-Saron's extremely vicious curse of flesh and blood has long been deeply rooted in the life primordial body bred by this magical mechanical device. In this way, Loken went further and further on the road of pursuing power and desire, and was willingly manipulated by the cunning Yogg-Saron and became a chess piece in the hands of the other party.
Thorim was now in deep seclusion, while Loken devoted himself to covering up his crimes. He did not hesitate to form an alliance with the evil Yogg-Saron. With such a powerful force, Loken knew that he would be able to defeat all other guardians and would not allow any trace of his past mistakes to remain.
So, Loken brutally killed Mimiron and carefully faked a scene of an accident. The mechanical dwarves who were loyal to Mimiron were shocked to find that although their master's body had disappeared, his soul was not far away. These clever little guys worked together to build an extremely large mechanical body, carefully containing the gradually dissipating guardian soul.
Not only that, Loken also used insidious means to control Hodir and Freya, allowing Yogg-Saron to easily distort their minds and wills. Then, he persuaded the Titan creation Hela with his eloquence and successfully imprisoned the chief administrator Odin in the golden corridor of Valhalla. So far, Hela has replaced him and become the new guardian of all the Vrykul souls.
During the fierce battle with other guardians, Loken was always worried because he was afraid that Lei would suddenly return from the southern tip of Kalimdor to investigate what happened in Ulduar. However, to Loken's surprise, the high-level guardian never showed up. In the end, Loken reluctantly accepted the cruel reality that the Pantheon had been destroyed, and resolutely chose to leave the world and return to the mountains.
Loken then expelled all the Titan creations from Ulduar, and the slow-moving giants hid in the mountains and forests or the vast oceans, and never saw them again. For thousands of years, the once glorious guardians of Ulduar have now become humble servants of Yogg-Saron. Although the Old Gods' control over them is quite weak, they once tried to persuade these guardians to be loyal to them willingly, but unfortunately they failed. But for Cho'gall, this was not a problem at all. The two-headed ogre mage did not hesitate to take the initiative to step into Yogg-Saron's place of powerful magic. Although he could not break these shackles, he could gradually loosen and weaken them.
However, this alone was enough to multiply Yogg-Saron's influence. Then, the ancient god's control over the guardians gradually became as solid as a rock and impeccable. Driven by his will, the most powerful guardian, Loken, used the Forge of Will to create a huge army. Back then, under the control of the Titans, this unique artifact had bred countless noble and sacred life forms. But now that it fell into Loken's hands, it could only continuously produce batches of dwarves in iron armor and those mindless Vrykul who only knew how to fight and kill endlessly.
In that thrilling and magnificent battle against the Lich King, the great guardian Thorim finally uncovered the truth that made him sad - his beloved wife Sif was killed by his brother Loken! This sudden blow was like a bolt from the blue, making Thorim furious.
At this moment, a brave and fearless adventurer who was loyal to the Son of Hodir stepped forward and became Thorim's most powerful ally and supporter. With the help of this heroic adventurer, Thorim resolutely launched a life-and-death contest against the treacherous brother!
However, it is unexpected that all this is actually a sinister plot carefully planned by Loken. The reason why he set up this game is to find ways to lure Thorim away from the crucial Storm Temple. Once Thorim leaves this place, the evil existence Yogg-Saron who has been lurking beside him for a long time will be able to take the opportunity to cast strange spells and gain powerful strength to resist Thorim's fierce offensive.
Soon after, Thorim and his close friend, the ancestor dragon Veranus, unfortunately fell into the hands of the enemy and were taken to Ulduar. At this point, Yogg-Saron's wishful thinking seemed to be successful: as long as he could successfully force Thorim into a desperate situation and make him mentally collapsed, he could reap the benefits.
Yogg-Saron was also responsible for the corruption of the World Tree Vordrassil. The tree's roots were so developed that they extended to the place where Yogg-Saron was imprisoned[14], allowing it to create the Emerald Nightmare together with the other Old Gods. The ancient druids who planted Vordrassil cut it down immediately after they noticed the corruption brought by Yogg-Saron. However, by then, the foul air had already spread everywhere and gradually corroded the Greymaw Furbolg tribe who arrived here later. These Furbolgs chose to settle near the remaining stump of Vordrassil, but not long after, they fell into a state of madness and even attempted to revive the World Tree that had suffered so much. Not only that, the Furbolgs also used the terrifying energy left on the stump to successfully awaken the giant bear god, Ursoc. However, the reborn Ursoc was no longer the same as before, but was shrouded in evil and distortion, and once again descended into the world.
In the thrilling battle between the Ulduar team and the Old Gods, one after another soul-stirring visions appeared before the brave and fearless adventurers. These mysterious and allegorical scenes were like windows to the ancient history of Azeroth, allowing people to peek into those decisive moments.
In the first vision, Neltharion, the Earth Guardian, and other guardian dragons gathered together to exert earth-shaking power and create the legendary Dragon Soul. However, it was this powerful artifact that caused a huge split in the world and changed the pattern of the entire continent.
Then, the second vision showed a heartbreaking scene: the orc Garona sneaked into the palace and ruthlessly stabbed King Llane. This bloody act not only ended Llane's life, but also led to the end of the First War, making the once glorious Stormwind fall into the hands of the enemy.
Finally, the third vision focuses on the tortured Bolvar Fordragon. This steadfast warrior took on the heavy responsibility of becoming the new Lich King after the death of Arthas Menethil. The suffering and pain he endured moved the audience.
These three visions, like puzzle pieces, gradually piece together the full picture of Azeroth's history. They hint that Yogg-Saron may have played a pivotal role in these major events, with far-reaching and complex impacts, leaving endless room for future generations to ponder. For adventurers, these visions are both a review of the past and a warning for the future, inspiring them to continue to move forward and protect this magical and troubled world.
In this final vision, the whole world seemed to become blurred, leaving only the whisper from the abyss - the voice of Yogg-Saron echoing in his ears: "He will understand... No king can rule forever; only death is eternal!"
This ancient and mysterious prophecy, like a sharp sword piercing through time and space, foreshadows an inevitable fate. And now, this prophecy is about to come true.
The once invincible Arthas, the Lich King who tried to rule the world with plague and fear, was finally defeated by the power of the Ashbringer. He fell alone on the cold ground, with despair and regret in his eyes.
At the same time, the spirit of Terenas Menethil appeared before everyone. He silently watched his dying son, his heart filled with endless sorrow. His lips moved slightly, repeating over and over again the words Yogg-Saron had just said: "He will understand... no king can rule forever; only death is eternal!"
