America 1881: Legend of the West
Chapter 339: How about I try to clap my hands? (page 12)
After getting off the train at Dodge City with about a dozen of his men, Ackerman bought horses and marched along the railroad toward New Mexico.
They had thought that they might encounter some difficulties along the way, but they never imagined that the difficulties would be so great.
They first entered the high mountains of Colorado and watched various wild animals baring their teeth at them; then they lost track of the railway in the uninhabited land of eastern New Mexico and almost got lost.
During this period they encountered at least three waves of gunmen of unknown origin.
But fortunately, the two parties just met each other, and they both knew that the other party was not a good person. After careful consideration, they did not get angry.
Along the way, they also experienced water and food shortages.
Jennings sighed along the way.
If the explosives in the package were edible, he would have eaten them.
This gang of people robbed two groups of unlucky pedestrians along the way before they reached the town where they could see people.
By the time they were about to arrive in Santa Fe, the dozen or so arrogant Eastern thugs in suits and leather shoes had completely lost their energy and could not even speak with energy.
Their only gain along the way was that they found that they didn't need to find a specific ambush location.
New Mexico is so desolate that even outside the city of Santa Fe, no one would know about it, let alone killing a dozen people.
So they decided on an abandoned farm in the northern suburbs of Santa Fe.
From the outside, the farm buildings look basically intact. But when they walked into these buildings, they found that only the warehouse could barely be entered.
They even cleaned up the inside and outside of the farm, especially the warehouse, to make it look less desolate.
"What's the date today?"
Ackerman stood at the gate with his hands behind his back and asked Jennings who was cleaning the table.
"I don't know." Zhan Nings shook off the dry cloth on his hand, and the dust on the cloth flew all over the room. "Boss, we haven't had the concept of dates for a long time."
"Is it already past the agreed meeting date?" Ackerman scratched his hair and said to himself.
His hair was in clumps, looking like straw wrapped in dry mud.
"I don't know." Jennings asked and didn't know. He looked at his listless brothers, and then said to Ackerman:
"Boss, why don't we go look for water first? If this continues, we will die of thirst before Boss Chen gets on the plane."
"Shut up, I didn't ask you." Ackerman rubbed some dirt from his hair.
"In this way, you follow me into the city, and the others will look for water if they need to, and make preparations if they need to make preparations."
He gave orders to Jennings and the other thugs who were working.
"We will stay in the city for two days, and we will come back to tell you any news."
Ackerman and Jennings mounted their horses and headed toward Santa Fe.
The capital city of New Mexico is not what they imagined.
The streets are narrow, the buildings are weird, and there are all kinds of people on the street, but they all seem to be Mexicans.
The most terrible thing is that these Mexicans all speak Spanish.
These two people knew nothing about Spanish.
After dancing and gesticulating for a long time, no one understood what they were talking about.
They stopped in front of a grocery store.
There were several yellow-skinned people at the door.
These people look different from others.
Ackerman thought it was an Indian at first, but upon closer inspection, it didn't look like it.
"Sir, may I help you?" One of them noticed them and asked.
Although the accent is strange, what he speaks is indeed English.
"Um, where is the nearest hotel, and why don't people here speak English?" Jennings tried to look more friendly.
"This is the Mexican area in Santa Fe. For white people, it's in the west of the city." The man pointed to the west.
It dawned on Ackerman and Jennings.
No wonder the architectural style here doesn't look American.
But they had another doubt.
"So where did you come from?" Ackerman asked.
He asked a bit rudely, and those people showed a hint of displeasure, but they still answered his question:
"We are Chinese, from Roswell. What about you?"
"Delaware," Jennings replied absently.
The Chinese's answer surprised the two of them.
On the streets of eastern cities, it is extremely difficult to meet Chinese people who can speak English.
What's more, it was after the bill was announced.
Not only can these people speak English, they don't have braids on the back of their heads, and they speak very confidently.
"Roswell?"
Ackerman and Jennings looked at each other, lowered their heads and fell into thought.
When they looked up, they found that the Chinese had disappeared.
The two of them suddenly felt that things were not that simple.
But they discussed it for a long time, but still couldn't come up with a reason.
In the end, Ackerman decided to find a place to stay first and wait until tomorrow.
After walking around the city, they finally found a place to live in the west of the city.
It is said to be very close to the Chamber of Commerce.
The two finally had the opportunity to figure out the specific date.
Fortunately, the meeting time originally agreed in the letter happened to be noon tomorrow.
The next day, west of Santa Fe, near the Chamber of Commerce.
Two strange customers came to Mr. Hunter's clothing store early in the morning.
They said they were in an emergency and needed ready-made clothes because they didn't have time to order them.
Since the last time Astor and Chen Jianqiu visited the clothing store, Mr. Hunter has been preparing a lot of clothes in one size fits all sizes in the store.
The two people on the second floor can't afford it, but there are still high-end products on the first floor.
"Jennings, do you think I look like a business person in this outfit?" Ackerman asked his subordinates while sticking his butt out and looking in the mirror.
Jennings was also arranging his clothes, and he looked into the mirror.
Mr. Hunter's clothes still couldn't hide the ferocity of the two men, they were still two thugs.
"Boss, let's forget it. I think their Western outfits are pretty good." Jennings pointed to a pair of denim jackets on the clothes rack and a hat next to it.
"Shut up, let's go to the Chamber of Commerce now!" Ackerman straightened up.
"No need."
A voice came from behind them.
In the mirror, a third person suddenly appeared.
A young man with yellow skin.
Behind him were three men, all wearing bright revolvers on their waists.
"I heard you two are from Delaware?"'
The young man asked while looking at the clothes on the shelves on the first floor.
"How do you know?" Ackerman turned around suddenly.
