1880, spring.

This year, King Wilhelm II of the German Empire chose Berlin to host a World Expo and invited countries around the world to participate.

The origin of the World Expo was a regular market held by European merchants in the Middle Ages. The market initially only involved economic trade.

By the 19th century, the status of the business community in Europe had improved, the size of the market gradually expanded, the types of commodity transactions and the number of participants increased, and the scope of influence became wider and wider, ranging from economy to the art of life to the ideal philosophy of life.

By the 19s, this large-scale market had become an exposition.

In ancient farming societies, people often carried out trading activities during harvest celebrations, religious ceremonies, and festive festivals. Later, they gradually developed into regular, fixed-site, large-scale trade and display gatherings for the purpose of exchanging goods.

This was the earliest form of the World Expo. In the 5th century AD, Persia held the first exhibition that went beyond the function of a market.

In the 18th century, with the continuous emergence of new technologies and products, people gradually thought of holding exhibitions that were similar to fairs, but only for display and not for sale, with the purpose of promoting and displaying new products and achievements.

The Czech Republic held its first such exhibition in Prague in 1791. With the advancement of science and technology and the development of social productivity, the scale of exhibitions has gradually expanded. The geographical scope of exhibitions has expanded from one place to the whole country, from domestic to foreign countries, until it has developed into a world exposition participated by many countries.

In order to carry out this exposition, the Kaiser even built a huge factory in Berlin.

There is nothing here, but the space is large enough to accommodate most of the country stalls that come here as well as some private stalls.

Huge pillars support the factory building, with huge glass windows as grand as a cathedral on both sides. I heard that this place will be converted into a factory in the future, so such a large area of ​​land will not be wasted.
