A Wizard's Survival Guide to the 20th Century
Chapter 82 Daily Life of Group 27004
After sending Charlie home, Levi went to another place.
It's a Phoenix-style restaurant on the corner of Lombard Street, where the 004 team will have dinner tonight to welcome their two new members.
It was already six o'clock in the afternoon when Levi found this store. The light was gradually dimming, and the color of the sky was like a Mona painting.
Pushing open the walnut door inlaid with glass, Levi found that the decoration of this store was very tasteful.
The owner of the store does not use the complicated decorativeism that is popular nowadays, but simple and bright pure wood color. The store is not big, but there are many sofas and large tables arranged in a circle. It seems that their store is specially used for dinner parties.
The other members of Group 004 have been waiting for him here for a long time, including Captain Cruise, Field, Reese and Martha.
But there was nothing on the table yet, so everyone was obviously waiting for him.
"Sorry, I'm late."
After Levi sat down, Field handed him a menu.
"Snacks and pizza have been ordered. You can order whatever you want. Today is the team leader's treat."
"Let me see..." Levi opened the menu. There were many and miscellaneous foods on it, including dishes from anywhere.
"I recommend the rosemary-fried lamb chops. This restaurant's specialty is especially delicious with mint sauce." Team leader Cruise recommended, "I ate it once when I came here three years ago, and it's still unforgettable."
"The tomahawk steak is also good, medium rare with black pepper." Reese added.
Levi thought for a moment and adopted the team leader's suggestion, plus a very Phoenix double cheese beef burger.
Drinks were sparkling water and non-alcoholic cocktails, which Cruise regretted.
"Prohibition was the worst decision Phoenix made in the twentieth century," he said.
"There are people who want to profit from using the actions of a small group of idiots to enslave us civilized people, but they have no idea how great of a thing alcohol really is."
"I bet that sooner or later someone will become a wizard because they can't buy wine. I've thought about the characteristics. It must be a professional type, just called 'Winemaker' or 'Sommelier'."
"This is not good," Field joked. "We should join with several other groups to ask the attorney general to sue Congress, saying that their Prohibition laws will cause an epidemic of wizards."
"To be honest, someone has already done this." Cruise said.
"Who?" Field asked curiously.
"That's me. I mentioned this on the first day after Prohibition was implemented." Cruise shook his head regretfully. "It's a pity that they didn't accept it."
The few remaining people couldn't help but laugh. At this moment, Levi suddenly remembered the pile of whiskey piled in his space.
"Maybe we can make an exception?"
Levi held his right hand, and a bottle of brown wine appeared out of thin air.
Several people were stunned for a moment, and then they remembered that Levi had a storage space, a weapon that was illegal and criminal.
"No." Cruise shook his head seriously.
"We are the BOI, the FBI, the defenders of order. How can we blatantly violate federal law?"
Levi was surprised. He didn't expect that Cruise was a person who valued rules so much.
But then he heard the latter continue to speak.
"However, Prohibition only stipulates that you cannot drink with friends and family, and you cannot hold banquets. However, it is legal for a person to drink alcohol alone."
"Fortunately, everyone knows that tonight we are not friends or family, but simply colleagues or comrades-in-arms. This is not a banquet, it is just a group of people eating at the same table by coincidence."
"So, isn't this totally legal?"
Cruise smiled and said: "Let's toast!"
Several people cheered, asked for ice cubes, and then clinked their glasses together, taking a rare sip of strong liquor.
Except for Martha, who can't accept this exciting drink yet.
"I think ginger beer tastes better..." She took a sip of whiskey and bit her lip.
Ginger beer is a non-alcoholic drink that tastes like ginger-flavored pineapple beer.
"After all, this is entertainment for sad grown-ups captured by alcohol," Field said.
The food was brought out quickly, and the clerks smelled the alcohol keenly, but they all kept it quiet. They ordered fried butterfly shrimp and potato chips, crinkle-cut fries sprinkled with cheese, pizza topped with crispy sausage slices, and Siris fruity chicken.
"It's like sour sweet and sour pork." Levi gave a negative review, "It's not authentic at all. One day I'll have the opportunity to let you taste the real oriental taste."
But the pizza is still delicious. Unlike Pizza's, the pizza here is soft and thin, like melted marshmallows. The edges are crispy, like fried dough sticks fresh out of the pan, plus the perfectly crispy sausage and the tomato sauce and cheese on top... I can only say you can't stop.
After all, it was a party, and everyone was chatting while eating.
"What did the captain and the others teach you today? The history of witchcraft?" Levi asked Martha.
"No...I've been writing about something like anatomy and biology for a whole day." Martha replied as if she had a headache.
Levi looked at Cruise in surprise, do you want to train her to be...a forensic scientist?
Mr. Cruise shrugged and said: "You have to know, Li, what traits and qualities provide us is only talent and strength."
"I know this, Field told me." Levi said.
"Yes, but we cannot rely solely on instinct to use this power. We are human beings, the primates of all things, and we must use our brains."
Cruise tapped his temples.
"Even geniuses need to learn. Let's take the example of an enemy you have faced. For example, a tuner. If he doesn't understand 'resonance', he will just think that he is a louder speaker. "
"Marda's ability requires her to be familiar with her own body structure and the body structure of other creatures."
"This seems to be an old saying in Siris?" Reis interjected at this time.
"If jade is not polished, it cannot be used?" Li Wei suddenly thought of this sentence.
He then asked Martha: "Do you think it's effective?"
The latter nodded.
"The talent that my traits have given me also includes sensitivity to this knowledge. I feel like I can already draw a diagram of the human blood vessels."
"Eh..." Levi was speechless, and most medical students cried when they saw you.
