Reborn in another world, the boss loves me to the core
Chapter 392 Eldest Sister
The house looks very new, with two floors and a row of side rooms. He Hua is the eldest sister in the family and has five younger brothers and sisters. The youngest brother is only five years old. Together with their elderly grandparents, a total of ten people live here.
The meal had been prepared in the main room. He Hua took Su Xian's hand and walked in. They saw a woman in a bright red striped smock carrying a plate of food and placing it on the table.
"Mom." He Hua shouted.
The woman responded, turned around, and saw Su Xian was stunned.
Although this was a newly built house, with snow-white walls and furniture polished to a shine, the girl seemed out of place here.
It was as if she was not born to be in such a place, because her appearance made the woman feel that the main room that could originally accommodate ten people for dining and activities suddenly became dilapidated, embarrassing and crowded.
It wasn't just the living room that was shabby, but also her shabby clothes and hands covered with cracks and calluses.
The woman didn't know why she felt this way. She thought it was probably because the girl opposite her looked somewhat familiar, or perhaps she looked familiar, reminding her of the long-gone past.
He Hua introduced Su Xian enthusiastically: "Mom, this is my idol Su Xian, sister Su Xian, this is my mother."
"Hello, Auntie. Sorry to bother you." Su Xian didn't notice anything unusual. He smiled politely and extended his hand.
She was surprised at the woman's youth. Although her face was full of traces of years of hard work and poor maintenance, she still had a pretty face. She must have been a great beauty when she was young, and now she looked no more than thirty years old.
Standing together with He Hua’s father, they look more like father and daughter than husband and wife.
But He Hua's mother didn't react at all, as if she didn't hear what Su Xian said, nor did she see the hand Su Xian stretched out. She seemed to have had an acupuncture point pressed. She supported the table with one hand, and her eyes were fixed on Su Xian without blinking. There was inquiry, expectation, and a little sadness in her eyes. It was difficult to tell the emotion for a moment.
He Hua looked at her mother in confusion, pulled her sleeve awkwardly, and whispered, "Mom!"
He Hua's mother suddenly woke up, but her expression was still a little unnatural. She said softly: "I'm sorry, seeing you reminded me of something."
Then he quickly covered up his emotion, wiped his hands with his smock, shook Su Xian's outstretched hand, and said, "Hello, welcome to our home, but we don't have much to offer at home, just some simple meals. I hope you don't mind."
"How could I dislike it? The dishes Auntie cooked are so delicious and I can't help but want to try them right away."
After running all the way, she was already hungry. The town of Zag was too small and there wasn't even a decent restaurant. The only one closed early and the remaining ones mostly sold noodles for breakfast.
Besides, He Hua’s family was very welcoming along the way, so it wasn’t a good idea to eat at a restaurant.
She didn't expect to stay overnight at someone else's house, and she didn't prepare any gifts, so she asked Xiao Yao to give the money to He Hua's father, who refused several times before finally accepting it.
"When you smile, you look like an old friend of mine." He Hua's mother sighed softly. If that old friend's child had not been abandoned and was still alive, he would be this age now.
"Mom, do you have any old friends?" He Hua asked curiously.
"Children, don't ask about adults' affairs." He Hua's mother said unhappily.
He Hua's eyes rolled around. "I heard that I had an older sister, but she was lost when she was very young. Is that true?"
He Hua's mother's face changed and she asked sternly, "Who told you that?"
It was the first time He Hua saw her mother lose her temper like this. She shuddered and said softly, "I heard my grandmother say this once when she was drunk."
My grandmother is fond of drinking and likes to tell stories when she is drunk.
He Hua's mother was silent for a moment, then said, "Your grandma is drunk, how can you believe what she said? Don't say such things again in the future, and don't tell others, understand?"
"I know." He Hua responded and muttered, "I wish I had an older sister like Sister Su, who is beautiful and gentle. I don't want to be an older sister. I always give in to my younger brothers and sisters when there is something delicious or fun at home."
"What do you have to compare with others?" Tan Hua's mother suddenly asked sarcastically, "Your lazy father? Or your sarcastic grandmother and grandfather who favors boys over girls?"
It was the first time He Hua saw her mother so angry, and she was so scared that her face turned pale.
He Hua's father stood at the door with an unpleasant look on his face, his eyes filled with silent ferocity. He Hua's mother's face was obviously filled with fear, and she added timidly, "I mean, I'm not lucky enough to have a daughter like Miss Su. I'll go to the kitchen to get some food, and you go call grandpa and grandma to eat, and call your brothers and sisters to the kitchen, because this table can't accommodate everyone."
He Hua's father limped in with a gloomy face and asked Su Xian to sit anywhere. Su Xian looked a little embarrassed, but Xiao Yao looked calm and not affected at all.
After a while, He Hua's grandparents came in. Grandma He Hua was still cursing. She scolded He Hua for wasting money to apply to an art school and said she was not allowed to go there even if she got in. Then she scolded He Hua's mother for being a slut and not worthy of her lame son. Then she scolded He Hua's grandfather for being an old man who only knew how to drink and beat people when he was drunk.
The smell of cheap alcohol wafted throughout the room.
There was a table full of dishes, and several pairs of chopsticks were stirring the food back and forth. Su Xian only took two mouthfuls of rice, picked up a piece of vegetable closest to him with chopsticks, and said he was full.
The room arranged for her by the He family was where He Hua and her sisters lived. There was only an old-fashioned bunk bed and a desk in the room. Tan Hua's mother had replaced the quilt and sheets with new ones early on, and they felt quite soft.
After washing up, Su Xian sat on the bed with his legs bent and sent a message to Huo Li. He heard a knock on the door, and when he looked up, he saw Tan Hua's mother walking in with a large porcelain bowl.
"Miss Su, I saw that you didn't eat much at night, so I made some noodles to fill your stomach."
Su Xian quickly put down his phone and said no.
Mother Tan Hua placed a porcelain bowl on the desk. Steam was coming out of the bowl, and a pair of bamboo chopsticks were placed on the bowl.
"Eat a little. A little girl can't stand being hungry." Her tone was gentle, even with a hint of inexplicable caution.
Su Xian tilted his head to look at her. There were bruises on the corners of He Hua's mother's mouth, and a few strands of her hair, which had been neatly combed just now, were now scattered. She was very familiar with this kind of injury, having seen it on her own mother countless times.
There was an incandescent bulb hanging from the ceiling. The light was yellowish and not very bright. He Hua's mother's originally rough face seemed to be filtered, making her even more beautiful and stunning.
In fact, none of her children look much like her. Apart from her eyes, He Hua is more like her father. She has a slightly wider jaw, which puts her at a disadvantage when appearing on camera compared to people who are born with small faces.
Seeing that she didn't move, He Hua's mother thought she thought it was dirty, and hurriedly explained: "I have scalded the bowls and chopsticks with boiling water, and the chopsticks are new. There is nothing delicious in the farmhouse, so don't be disgusted. It's cold in spring, and you can't sleep well at night if you are hungry. Eat something, or it will get cold if you don't eat now."
Su Xian no longer refused, or rather, she didn't really want to refuse in her heart.
The only good memory she had of her mother in her life was a bowl of noodle soup.
"Thank you, Auntie." Su Xian picked up the chopsticks. In the white porcelain bowl, the golden fried egg was nestled on the noodles, and the emerald green chopped green onions had an attractive color.
She picked up a handful of noodles and took a bite of the fried egg. "It's delicious."
