Lords of Camelot

Chapter 604 Kingship has no eternity

After a day's work, Davian returned home. Well, it was actually just a two-story house. It was similar to Tristan's previous home. Davian liked this environment very much. It gave him a relaxing and wonderful feeling.

He took off his cloak and hung it on the hanger, then put on an apron and began to prepare dinner. It was really good to have magic, many things were as convenient as in later generations, and this was one of the small conveniences that Merlin brought him.

Merlin sat in the living room reading a book, occasionally looking up at Davian in the distance. When she had finished reading, she put the book down and picked up the cup on the table to take a sip of beer.

Until Davian came to her with a plate. He fried two dishes, fried two steaks, and added some white bread. This was their dinner for tonight.

Davian was the only person in Britain who could eat bread as steamed buns. When he was happy, he would just dip the bread into vegetable soup or steak sauce. Anyway, compared with Merlin's elegance, he was still far behind.

"It's completely different from eating in the palace. It seems that you are happier at home, aren't you?" Merlin, who was full, supported her head with her hands and looked at Davian in front of her. Her eyes were full of desire, but Davian said it was too early.

After all, he still had to work, wash dishes and clean the house, Merlin didn't have to do any housework at all, and Davian didn't want her to do it.

Sometimes Merlin felt that she had become a beautiful vase, a canary in a cage raised by Davian. But then she changed her mind and realized that she was enjoying the current peaceful life with Davian.

"Won't I gain weight if I eat delicious food every day?" Merlin moved her hands and pinched her waist, and Davian couldn't help but turn his head and look over when he heard her nonsense.

Will she gain weight? I don't think so at all. Besides, she is a petite and cute girl who is also very sexy and well-endowed, right? David has always felt this way.

When Davian finished his work, he lay down on the soft sofa and began to relax from his fatigue today. Lancelot had just finished a cross-strait trade and was now out on an adventure. Gawain was assigned by him to go to the north to take charge of the task of preventing the Saxons from landing for a period of time. Foreigners have always been a trouble.

Tristan went out to travel and adventure as a legendary knight, and Davian asked Gaheris to accompany him. After all, the outskirts of Camelot were the First Legion, and who dared to cause trouble here in front of the First Legion?

The only thing he cared about now was when King Arthur and Guinevere would return to get married. He had probably been in Kemreed for three months, and their relationship should have been fully developed.

Merlin, who was standing by, saw Davian's expression and naturally knew that he was still thinking about those British things.

So she got into Davian's arms, after all, she was wearing casual clothes. Davian was interrupted by her close behavior, but he didn't say anything, just stretched out his hands to help Merlin adjust her posture so that she could lean more comfortably.

"You always worry too much like this, but your hair will fall out~" Merlin teased him with a smile, but Davian just tilted his head and thought about the possibility, and then he suddenly became excited.

"Then I can just shave my head?! I've wanted to do that for a long time!"

This nonsensical remark made Merlin burst into laughter. She used her soft little fist to gently hit Davian's chest twice to tell him not to make such a ridiculous joke. She couldn't imagine Davian walking around Camelot with a big bald head. Couldn't he use his bald head to reflect the light?

"But what you said is true. I am really worried... We are walking on a dangerous road like a tightrope. Our kingdom is not walking on a smooth road. All that is left for us is darkness. But we still have to work hard to pursue hundreds of years, thousands of years, and ten thousand years for this kingdom that we have worked so hard to build."

As Davian said these words, his eyes were empty and his mind was at rest. But the next moment, Merlin said the words that were deep in his heart.

"But, my Davian, the kingship is not eternal."

This sentence pierced Davian's heart like a sharp knife. Lies never hurt people, but the truth is the sharpest knife. And such a truth is that Davian didn't know what to say, because this was the biggest fact.

Even though Arthur now had the holy sword and the scabbard, and even though Davian had heard from Merlin how powerful these two treasures were, the sense of crisis in his heart still did not subside at all. He could still feel that light had not yet descended on this Britain, and the dark future still surrounded them.

"Forget it, forget it. Don't think about it. Each generation has its own affairs. I am just a human being, so I can only do what I can do now."

After saying that, Davian reached out and hugged Merlin then carried him on his shoulders. Her body was apparently normal, and even her chest was quite curvy, but she was surprisingly light when he was carried. It could only be described as a nightmare. It's amazing, right?

"Let's go take a bath together! It's still early, and we can't keep using magic to clean our bodies!"

"Hahahahaha~ Actually, you just got lustful and wanted to see my body. Davian-chan is really dishonest~"

In the midst of their laughter, all the complicated thoughts were washed away. In fact, Davian knew that Merlin had let go, and she no longer interfered with the fate of the British Isles and the fate of Arthur's Kingdom.

She would prepare weapons for Arthur, but this was not a sudden impulse, but a premeditated one. Even if the loss of the Sword of the Chosen King was not within her expectations, it was definitely within her consideration.

It's funny to say that Arthur had told him before that the Sword of the Kingchooser could not fully withstand his power. Merlin must have already planned to change weapons.

Almost two years had passed since the Battle of Vortigern, and Davian still could not forget the dying words of Anagumas and Vortigern.

Even he had understood that Merlin had foreseen the end of this island and this kingdom in advance.

He should have spoken up for Arthur and the people, to get Merlin out of her relaxed state and let her try harder to see if she could turn things around.

But no matter what, the words came to his lips but he couldn't say them. Those pleading, tentative words came to his lips but he couldn't say them. He couldn't force Merlin, he couldn't do it.

Because he knew that Merlin also didn't like darkness and sadness, and she didn't do anything because she had her reasons. In this case, Davian could only rely on their own strength to work hard, and they had to move on.

But don't think about it now, he wants Merlin to cry and beg him not to stop.
