Lords of Camelot
Chapter 597: Wedding is a Happy Event
Days passed one by one, and today was finally the wedding day. Everyone who could come had already arrived. Davian was wearing a formal suit at the moment, and for a moment he was so nervous that he was speechless.
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid~ This is not a simple matter for you, you have to believe in yourself, this is a big event in your life." Lancelot was also wearing formal clothes, and he was even willing to help Davidian tidy up his clothes and appearance.
Lancelot came here immediately after he finished the trade with France and handed over everything to Lord Caesar. He rode alone for several days and finally arrived in Canterbury. After all, this was a big event for Davian and he couldn't miss it anyway.
"I've been through it, don't worry, just don't say the wrong thing later. I wish you happiness in the future, just like Isolde and I." Tristan was there, of course, and he smiled and patted Davian on the shoulder. After all, he was an experienced person, and for him, these things were just like the past.
Bedivere also looked at Davian with encouragement. With his encouragement, Davian felt calmer.
"Go, my friend." Arthur also pushed him gently from behind. Davian looked back at him and took a firm step forward.
He went to where he should be standing, and the Archbishop of Canterbury was standing in front of him. At this moment, Davian had regained a kind of calmness and inner peace.
Then the band began to play, and this solemn wedding music made everyone feel solemn. This was a joyous and solemn thing, and although everyone was happy, they also had to remain serious.
Then, Merlin walked slowly towards Davian from the outside of the gate, accompanied by the nun beside her. Her footsteps gradually approached, and Davian's heartbeat became faster and faster.
Finally, Merlin came to his side, and Davian couldn't help but turn his head to look at her. At that moment, Merlin in her wedding dress was so beautiful that Davian couldn't help but sigh that he was lucky enough to hold such a beauty in his arms, which was something he had never dared to think about before.
Then came the old declarations and vows, which Davian and Merlin recited one by one following the archbishop. When the time was right, the archbishop said, "Marriage token, come."
The servant next to him immediately came over solemnly holding a tray. On the tray was a cushion made of red velvet and in the middle was a pair of white rings.
Merlin raised his eyebrows and subconsciously wanted to laugh. Davian really knew her very well. Gold was too tacky, and gemstones were too boring. So he made the ring out of platinum? And looking at that mark...did he polish it himself?
Even with her eyesight, she could already see the names engraved on the inside of the ring. It was her name and Davian's. It was hard to imagine when Davian had learned this strange craft.
"Please ask the newlyweds to put rings on each other." The servant walked between the two, and following the archbishop's declaration, Merlin and Davian turned around to face each other.
Davian could see the smile in Merlin's expression at this moment, and then Davian reached out and put the ring on the ring finger of Merlin's right hand, and Merlin also put the ring on the ring finger of Davian's left hand.
As the ring was put on, the archbishop spoke again: "Davian Slerik, please follow me word by word. This is my wedding token to you. I will marry you, love you, and protect you. Whether you are rich or poor, in good or bad circumstances, in sickness and health, I will be your faithful husband."
Davian stared at Merlin in front of him, and responded to the archbishop's words, reciting the marriage vows one by one.
"Great magician Merlin, please repeat after me word for word. This is my wedding token to you. I will marry you, love you, and protect you. For richer or poorer, for better or worse, in sickness or health, I will be your faithful wife."
Merlin said these weighty words in a gentle voice, and everyone had to admit that in terms of appearance alone, Merlin at this moment could definitely overwhelm the entire Britain and even France. Who could beat her? She was simply invincible.
“Then, follow me together. Wherever you go, I will go; and where you lodge, there I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.”
The wedding ceremony presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury was now coming to an end, and this was the final vow.
Davian took Merlin's hand and turned to face the Archbishop. Although neither of them believed in God, they still said these words. Their God was themselves, and the other half with whom they were now engaged.
"Then, by the authority vested in me in the sacred Scriptures, I pronounce you husband and wife. What God has joined together, let no man put asunder."
After this final blessing, Davian turned to face Merlin, and the two kissed each other in front of everyone.
Everyone applauded the couple, and the band's music reached its climax. The flower girl next to them threw rose petals on their heads, and a cheerful atmosphere filled the entire church.
They walked slowly toward the outside of the church. Davian turned the page of the book and the blue lion jumped out. At this moment, even the lion was happy about the marriage of his companion. Davian rode on the lion and Merlin sat sideways behind him. As the lion stood up, the parade team started to spread the joy of the couple's marriage throughout the city.
The people around them shouted to them happily, and Davian and Merlin greeted them. Everyone thought they were a perfect match. Needless to say, they were very happy at this moment. This was the beginning of a new era for Britain.
"Are you happy? You finally held me in your arms and made me your wife." Merlin whispered behind Davian, and Davian responded with a smile, saying that he was really happy, so happy that he couldn't even control himself.
This day was a day of celebration, and everyone, whether inside or outside the city, was immersed in the festive atmosphere. Although there were a few people who wanted to complain that this marriage was like a mouse marrying a cat, it didn't matter since the parties were so happy.
However, this was also the day when Davian drank the most. Lancelot, Tristan, and Bedivere took turns to toast him. How could he refuse? He could only accept them one by one. On such a joyous day, he couldn't do anything to spoil the fun.
The others certainly wouldn't really get him drunk, and they knew when to stop and not make Davian feel uncomfortable.
When night fell and the banquet ended, Davian and Merlin said goodbye to the guests one by one. Now they were the only two living in the church. Arthur and his men temporarily lived in the military camp outside the city to avoid any riots caused by the army entering the city.
"Ah~! I'm so tired! It's been a really exhausting day, more tiring than fighting a whole day in a battle." Davidian stretched lazily. Today's fatigue had overwhelmed his brain. He just wanted to go back, take a shower and have a good rest.
