Hollow Knight: Hallownest

Chapter 3 Woou Trading Company

Mo Rong glanced at Gio on the ground, and then looked around. Seeing that no one was paying attention to him, he quickly put Gio into the bag.

"Mosquito legs are still meat no matter how small they are." Murong muttered.

The top priority is to find a job, otherwise I will sleep on the street and may not even have food to eat.

After turning out of the alley, Mo Rong tried to find if there was any bulletin board nearby. There should be some recruitment information on it that could help him.

After walking for a while, Mo Rong saw a group of insects surrounding something in front of him, so he also moved over to take a look.

As luck would have it, those swarms of insects were surrounding a bulletin board, with a lot of miscellaneous messages posted on it, the few of which were similar to "Mine collapse, casualties...", "Ore production reduced, ore prices rising. ...", "Someone was poisoned by accidental consumption of fungi, please do not..." and other accident reports, while others were some job recruitment information.

Murong took a closer look, and the most eye-catching thing was the news about the recruitment of urban sentinels. Their main tasks were to maintain urban security and check people and goods entering and leaving the city.

The ones that seemed more reliable were those for the Chamber of Commerce's accounting office, waiters, and the firm's recruitment for escorts and cargo movers. The last two positions had some small words written on them. Mo Rong took a closer look. They were introductions to the job tasks. It's almost like an escort agency.

The rest are just those who recruit slaves. Recalling the bugs carrying the sedan chair on the bridge just now, the work is probably like theirs.

Murong looked up and down. Among them, the merchant's escort had the highest remuneration, five hundred euros, followed by the city sentinel, three hundred euros, but he couldn't do either of them. The recruitment of sentinels needed to check their origins. This alone was not enough for Mo Rong. The law passed because even he himself did not know how he came to be. And the commercial bank needs to bring its own weapons for escort, so naturally it will not be able to pass.

The other positions are fixed-term and do not allow much time to go out, but the position of slave...

This is not what he traveled here to do.

There was no other way. There was only one porter position left with a salary of 260 euros, so Mo Rong had no choice but to go and see if the company would accept him.

I took a closer look at the name of the trading company, Woou Trading Company.

Then Mo Rong patted a bug next to him and asked softly:

"Brother, do you know how to get to Woou Trading Company?"

The insect looked at him strangely after hearing this.

"You don't even know about Woou Trading Company? It's from outside."

"Brother has such good eyesight!"

Mo Rong followed his words and praised him.

"That's it." After hearing this, Chongzi hummed twice, raised his hand and pointed to the other end.

"Now, go straight on that road, then turn two lefts, and you can see Woou Trading Company."

"Okay, thank you bro."

The insect didn't reply to him, but turned around and continued looking at the bulletin board.

Murong walked along the path Chongzi mentioned and saw a sign standing beside the road, with the four characters "Woou Trading Company" hanging on it. After a while, Mo Rong arrived at his destination. When he looked up, he saw that this business was three or four times larger than an ordinary shop. There were people coming and going inside.

Mo Rong raised his feet and walked inside. The decoration inside was not as magnificent as what he had seen in the Watcher's Spire before, but it was still very gorgeous. There were many products in the cabinets around it, mostly ores, and many others. The few fungi and medicinal materials are available, and the prices are staggering.

After walking two steps, a guy came up to me.

"Dear guest, what do you want to buy?"

The waiter greeted him with a smile, bowed and guided Mo Rong inside.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm here to find a job. Are we still looking for a moving guy?" Morong asked the guy.

"Are you here to find a job?" The smile on the waiter's face faded a bit, and he looked at Mo Rong suspiciously.

"Yes, I saw the board on the street saying we are hiring."

The guy looked at Fan Morong up and down again, saw how serious he looked, turned around and walked inside.

"follow me."

Murong followed the guy deep into the Chamber of Commerce, passed through several thresholds, and came to a small courtyard.

There are a lot of bugs in the yard, and they are all chattering and I don’t know what they are talking about.

"You stand over first, and I'll ask the housekeeper." After that, the guy walked into the house.

Mo Rong was bored waiting here, so he started chatting with a bug next to him.

"Brother, are you here to be a mover?"

"Yes."

"Chosen?"

"Choose whatever you want, as long as you come, there will be nothing they don't want."

Mo Rong was stunned when he said this. What did the guy from earlier go inside to ask?

"Why is this? Isn't the master afraid that too many people will come and it will be useless?"

"You look like you're new here. This business doesn't move around the city, most of them go outside. Do you know how many people can come back to get paid each time?"

Mo Rong shook his head.

"Only 60%!"

"The casualty rate is so high?" Mo Rong was a little shocked. He thought he was just moving some goods with the convoy.

"And out of the 60%, 80% to 90% of the casualties were caused by us moving the goods."

"I see that the board says there are still escorts?" Murong asked.

"It's okay to encounter some simple monsters. If we encounter some that even they can't deal with, do you think they should protect us or the cargo first?"

Mo Rong was silent for a moment and said:

"No wonder the rewards are almost catching up with the sentry. Thank you for the tip, brother."

"Where is it."

"Hey, I don't think you are short of money. Why are you doing this?" The insect waved his hand and then asked.

"Um, what do you mean, bro?"

"Aren't you a noble?" Chongzi pointed at the clothes on Murong's body.

"If I were a noble, would I still do this?"

Murong thought to himself, looked down at the red robe on his body, and looked at Chongzi with some doubts. Chongzi also reacted when he saw Mo Rong's appearance.

"Are you really not a noble?"

Mo Rong nodded.

"Then where did your clothes come from?"

"Um..." Morong didn't really want to expose the fact that he met Lu Ruien, for fear that it would cause unnecessary trouble.

"I picked it up."

"Brother, you are awesome. I really can't tell whether you are really stupid or fake." The bug gave a thumbs up and took two steps back.

"Red clothes can only be worn by the nobles here. We commoners can only wear gray clothes. If other nobles find you, a commoner, wearing noble clothes..."

Before he finished speaking, he saw the guy who had just entered the house walking out of the house, followed by two beetles holding bone nails.

"Butler, please come in." The waiter said to Mo Rong.

Although the insect who just talked to Morong hadn't finished speaking yet, he had already roughly guessed that the second half of what he said was nothing more than the punishment that would be imposed on some civilians who offended the nobles.

Morong looked at the man in front of him and the guards behind him, and couldn't help but secretly thought that the person coming was evil. Now he had no power to resist at all, so he could only take one step at a time.

Morong walked towards the house, and the man followed him closely to prevent him from escaping.

After entering the house, Mo Rong saw a slightly wealthy beetle dressed in blue and gray sitting on a chair, staring at him firmly.

"Where did your clothes come from?"

"I picked this up." Mo Rong still said.

"Picked it up? Do you know what happens to a commoner who offends a noble?"

"Just wearing something is not offensive."

"How dare you talk back? Do you know that offending a noble will result in beheading?"

Murong's eyes widened when he heard this. He thought of many punishments, but he never thought of them as serious.

"Holy shit, the aristocracy is so damned, don't I just wear clothes?"

The butler glanced at the guard who followed behind.

However, the panic did not last long, and Mo Rong immediately thought:

"If you die in the game, your body will return to the previous save point. So if I die here, will it..."

Hearing the sound of footsteps slowly approaching, Mo Rong looked back and was almost scared out of his wits. He saw that the guard had already raised the bone nail above his head and was already trying to chop downwards.

Mo Rong didn't dare to bet on whether he would be resurrected after being chopped off. He wanted to experience it well. Wouldn't it be a loss of blood if he died here?

In desperation, Mo Rong had to tell the truth.

"Wait a minute! To be honest, this clothes was given to me by Lord Watcher."

After hearing what Murong said, the housekeeper quickly raised his arm to signal and walked towards Murong. The guard behind him saw this and put down the bone nails.

These words frightened the housekeeper so much that he hurriedly walked up to Mo Rong and asked.

"Are you sure you are Lord Watcher?"

"Exactly."

"Do you know that the consequences of telling this gentleman's lie are no less serious than beheading?" The housekeeper obviously didn't believe what Mo Rong said and stared at him, as if he wanted to see Mo Rong's flaw.

"Butler, if you don't believe it, you can ask someone to verify it. Lord Watcher's butler personally sent me down." However, Mo Rong was not afraid at all, and also looked at the butler.

Seeing that Mo Rong didn't look afraid at all, the housekeeper also retreated in his heart.

He could still tell the difference between ordinary nobles and watchers.

After thinking for a moment, he decided not to go into this muddy water. Anyway, if he was discovered by other nobles, he would not be blamed. So he breathed a sigh of relief and said to Mo Rong:

"I'm sorry, little brother. It's your duty. Please forgive me for any offence."

"It's okay, that's understandable, but can I work as a mover with you?"

Mo Rong also breathed a sigh of relief and took the opportunity to ask.

"Of course, little brother, go to the yard and wait for a while. I will explain it later."

"Okay, let me thank the butler in advance."

After saying that, Mo Rong walked back to the yard.
