HP: Embrace the Darkness

Chapter 854 Prelude to the War

Draco looked up, bewildered.

After entering the study, his sight fell on Ases' face for the first time. Against the light, his vision was all white. He could not see Ases' face clearly, but he vaguely felt that something was wrong. Ases' hands were too cold.

"Brother? What's wrong with you?"

Although the unbearable pain just now faded, the fatigue from the depths of his soul was still there, which affected Athis's control over his body. His consciousness was in a trance for a moment before he heard what Draco said. He withdrew his hand belatedly and turned around as if nothing had happened.

"What could possibly happen to me? Don't let your imagination run wild, Nina. Send them over first. I'll go over with the doctor later."

Nina didn't want to leave, so she took small steps and moved to Draco's side reluctantly, but her eyes never left Athis, hoping that Athis would change his mind and let her stay.

In the end, she couldn't hesitate any longer, so she reluctantly withdrew her gaze and said listlessly, "Young Master Malfoy, Nina will take you back to your room."

Draco looked at the elf's worried gaze that kept drifting to the side, and his doubts grew even stronger. He managed to stay calm and told Nina, "Send my parents over first, I'll go with my brother."

He checked. Lucius and Narcissa were just unconscious. Lucius' wounds were no longer bleeding. The external injuries looked serious, but in fact they were not as serious as their coma.

Compared to Lucius and the other man whose injuries were already known, he was more worried about Ases whose condition was unknown.

Nina's eyes lit up. Fearing that Athis would object, she hurriedly grabbed Lucius and Narcissa's hands, snapped her fingers, and disappeared in the study in an instant.

Without Nina, whose presence was so strong, the study suddenly became quiet.

Draco pinched himself and wiped the blood off his hands silently. He used all his life's control to adjust the expression on his face, smiled, turned around and walked in front of Aces.

As if he was a little tired, Ases was leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed. When he heard footsteps, he slightly raised his eyelids, saw who it was, and then closed them again.

This time it was not backlit, and Draco could clearly see Aces's almost sickly pale face and his pupils filled with red bloodshot.

Even though he was mentally prepared, Draco was still a little panicked. Since he met Athis, he had never seen Athis look weak.

All along, Athis has given everyone the impression of being powerful and invincible, as if even if the sky falls, Athis can repair it and reinforce it, just like the time when Voldemort was resurrected.

But he and they all seemed to have forgotten that Ases was not omnipotent. He would get hurt, get tired, and lick his wounds where no one could see.

Draco's mind was in a mess, and he almost wanted to take his brain out so that he could think quietly about what he should do.

After hesitating for a long time, he finally figured out what he should do now in his messy thoughts and raised his wand carefully.

Aces closed his eyes just to save energy, not to fall asleep completely. Besides, his body would not allow him to fall asleep now, so he noticed as soon as Draco raised his wand, and opened his eyes helplessly and lazily.

"You shouldn't stay. Lucius and Narcissa need you now."

"What about you?" Draco asked, hesitating again and again before putting down the wand in his hand, muttering softly, "If you stay here by yourself, in case anything happens..."

Seeing him like this, Ases knew that he couldn't rest any longer, so he simply moved his arms that were pressed on the armrests, and with the support of the armrests, he slowly sat up straight.

His every move was casual but not rude. If you looked at his movements and not his expression, you could tell no signs of injury.

"I remember I said, I'm fine, don't think too much."

"Am I just imagining things? It's obviously you who didn't tell me anything! Do I have any other choice but to imagine things?"

Realizing that his tone was complaining, Draco shut up in annoyance and tried to make amends for himself.

"That's not what I meant. I just, just..."

"I know you are worried about me."

Athis smiled at Draco soothingly, and the pale color of his lips was particularly glaring in Draco's eyes.

"But Draco, I know my body better than anyone else, and I won't do anything stupid like showing off. I'm really fine, just a little tired. You can rest assured."

Draco still didn't believe it, mainly because Aces didn't look like he was okay.

Ases frowned in distress, not knowing how to explain that he was indeed fine - his soul had been cut out a long time ago, and the explosion would not affect his survival, it would just be a little painful at the beginning, and he would be a little weak afterwards.

After thinking it over again and again, he realized that if he didn't tell the truth, no matter how he explained it, it would be a bit pale and powerless. So Ases simply stopped explaining, picked up the letter on the table, opened it, and started to drive the person away.

"According to the time, Grandpa Joel will be back with the doctor soon. If you have nothing to do, go and take the doctor to your room. I have something to do here, so I can't accompany you."

"……it is good."

Draco responded sullenly, and like Nina, he hesitated for a long time, and walked out of the study reluctantly without waiting for Assas to persuade him to stay.

But when he turned around, he saw Nina standing in the corridor looking at him with disappointment. That look made him feel guilty and embarrassed.

Taking the young man's self-esteem into consideration, the house-elf asked politely, "Did the master kick you out too, little Master Malfoy?"

Draco didn't say anything. The elf understood immediately and comforted him instead, "It's okay, Master, you know your limits. Nina believes in you."

Draco had just had a one-sided argument with Aces and was in no mood. When he heard Nina's comfort, he just nodded and said nothing.

Nina looked up at him and found that his beautiful hair had drooped down, completely losing its former vitality, like a homeless golden retriever.

There was no other way. This was his master's younger brother. Even though the elf, who had a limited vocabulary and was not good at comforting others, he had to continue racking his brains to squeeze out some comforting words to comfort him.

Draco knew how important Nina was to Aces, so he didn't refuse her kindness. He answered her incoherently while walking out.

The two of them walked away as they spoke.

Behind them, the door of the study opened silently, and Aces walked out quietly. Seeing Nina beside Draco with a sad face but still trying hard to force a smile to cheer the young master up, he felt a little relieved. After they walked away, he turned and walked to the other side of the corridor.

Gavin has been very busy recently, running back and forth between the two manors, with no fixed residence. Occasionally he would eat and drink here, and occasionally go to the other side to carry out missions. So when Ases walked to the door of his room, he found that he was not there.

Recalling the places that appeared most frequently in the reports submitted by Gavin, Ases turned decisively and left Cavendish Manor.

The UK is in the rainy season recently. It can rain three or four times a day. Dark clouds occupy the sky all day long. At this time, the sky outside has darkened at some point, and the sky is covered with dark clouds. The wet wind is howling, and a heavy rain is brewing rapidly in the high-altitude clouds.

Ases was fast and arrived at Malfoy Manor before the heavy rain... In the manor next door, Gavin was indeed inside, and he was very interested in fighting one against three people in hand-to-hand combat.

Following other gazes, Gavin saw Athis, and the murderous look in his eyes instantly disappeared. He shook off the sweat on his body and turned into the big man sniffing the roses again. He touched the back of his head in a naive manner, and was about to raise a warm smile when he was stunned by Athis' words.

"Go get ready, the next door is about to take action."

As if in response to Ases' words, a loud thunder struck, mixed with a terrifying wolf howl. The wolf howl came from far away and was louder than ever before.

Gavin shuddered with excitement, a bloodthirsty arc appeared on the corner of his mouth. He didn't bother to flatter Athis. After greeting Athis, he turned around and called for people to fight the wolves.

Athis squinted his eyes and looked at the menacing werewolf, and twirled his fingers in restraint.

No, you can't do that.

At least, not now.

After taking a deep look at Gavin, who was jumping up and down cursing the werewolf and urging everyone to grab their weapons, Athis turned around and left silently, just like when he came, without anyone noticing.

Gavin came back with a group of people. Seeing that Ases was not there, he did not say anything. He assigned tasks to everyone one by one. He walked to the front, carrying a big thing on his shoulder and holding a magic wand in his hand, and roared: "Kill them for me!"

In an instant, colorful spells and bullets mixed together and shot towards the werewolf.
